I just bought the C Class even after driving the 2012 BMW 3 series. One thing BMW cannot duplicate is the "bank vault" feeling of a Benz; there is nothing like it!

Assuming you're getting an auto (and you don't even have a choice with the C250), the ZF 8-speed is reason enough to get the BMW. That thing is incredible.
I love this new 328i, there isn't anything that can beat it, if another car is quicker, its more expensive or is less economic. If another car is more economic, its slower and not as much fun. This new 328i has a perfect blend of performance, economy, and price. BMW, you guys once again hit the nail right on the head, you're gonna sell a TON of these for sure!
No wayy! This is the best looking 3 series yet, it has a very aggressive, short stance, nice fender flares, that front end, wowww. I will also say that it looks even better in person than in pictures or videos.

Well the 328i x drive is the same price as the C300... while the 328i is about 2k more then a C250. Yes i understand it's kinda unfair to be throwing 4 cyls out against 6 cyls. But then you can compare the C350 vs the 335i, because honestly the C250 is nowhere near the 328i performance and driving wise. So i'm just saying price wise the 328i and C300 are more suited together too, along with performance stats.

Power & displacement isn't the full story for 0-60 though. Weight plays a major role and so does gearing, not to mention torque distribution and even the redline.
Halogen lights on a Merc?
For a bmw, you use it for couple years, the interior turns to sh... t whereas in a Merc is still like new. BMW might have the edge on performance, Merc beats it in reliability, build quality and class.
please stop spreading lies...1st of all, I've driven a 335i for 5 years, and when I sold it the interior was pretty much perfect. 2nd, "might"? are you joking? compare ANY competing BMW and merc, and the BMW will ALWAYS drive and handle better. 3rd, mercs are well known for being expensive to maintain...the C class in particular scored near dead last out of over 100 cars in a top gear UK viewer survey on reliability

Jonathan Haddad eh, I think reliability is more of an issue the more complicated a car is...so I personally would opt for BMW's that don't have needless things like blind spot warnings and radar cruise control...the less things that can break, the better, right? I think BMW's are generally cheaper to own than a mercedes or audi...but they aren't anywhere near as bulletproof as a lexus for example

It depends. I like the aesthetics of the 5er and 6er better but the C-Class looks cooler comparing to the 3-Series.

Then you're lucky, man. This rattling sound fromt the back parcel shelf is killing me. I've searched online and found out that lot of people have the same problem. Dealer was no help, we're not able to locate the sound, as always. Btw, are you usingRFTs?
I've been hearing some reviewers that when in eco pro mode some have been achieving better than 40mpg. That is just amazing, can't wait to have a four cylinder diesel here in the U.S. Then it will probably kick the prius butt in mpg.

not trying to hate i own a 2013 C250 Sport and there is no way it does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. i can't get anything under 7 seconds. 8 seconds average

I've got a bimmer 3 series 2010. I love the engine, sound of the engine, power and pick up, precise steering and stiff ride, BUT! I hate the quality of interior assembly and all the rattling sounds, esp when you drive not on an ideally surfaced highway. It shouldn't be the case with the car that costs >50k, it's just so annoying..

Many european cars have this feature, on bmw they have adaptive transmission, while driving in a traffic, you need some heavy foot to gas pedal to make it fast
C350 4matic no question. That is in the class of 335xi. The ride and of the Mercedes is not matched by many other cars. I was in the market for the C30 4matic. Downgraded power from a G37xS but still love the car.
well I would say like you said, everyones taste is different. Some people(like you) won't love the new look, other people(myself) do. Thats actually a very good metaphor that you used, this looks like a shark, a short, aggressive bull shark, with the angry and dangerous front end, and stubby tail, with that shark fin on the back. I am really into this new 3 series, and I do say give it a shot, and look at it in person, you might like it more then, its definitely worth a try:).
Matter of taste, but I think that C-Class looks just great in this color. Not sure about the US-Market, but in Germany there´s a C-Class Sport coming out this days that got the 7-Speed Auto with faster gear changes, a sports exhaust, a diffrent/sportier suspension, and some special rims only for this Edition. The Car in the Vid is just a Standard Car with AMG-package and Sports Suspension, the real "Sport" will be closer to the BMW I think than this car in terms of Gear-Changes and Dynamics.

Yeah that is true, back then we needed bigger engines to produce more power. Nowadays a turbo i-4 can make more power than a v6 and get better fuel economy. So while Audi may have created this segment, BMW has definitely perfected it with the 328. As far as interiors, I have always thought that Audi's stuff is not quite up there with BMW and Mercedes, you can see too much VW in them. I think if they really want to stand out, they need to become individual like the other two german companies.
I have a 2009 328i and I love it. It is reliable and comfortable, the interior is a nice place to be an a great engine. I love my bimmer.

The C63 AMG black series is also about $100,000 and comes stock without a backseat, it's not in the same class as a 3-series its more of a supercar so really while you're right in saying its faster its not comparable at all, and im sure when the m4 comes out it will render all c63's obsolete anyways

Cornering G does not determine the complete picture of "handling" so thats a ignorant assumption that you made. Tire grip alone could constitute for the same G loads. And most porches dont actually produce a dramatic amount more in terms of G load so they may be "cruisers" but they handle amazingly for there sectors.
I like how they just made up the 0-60 and 1/4 of a mile times. 5.4 seconds and 13.9 in a 328i? lol I've seen 335i not be able to do that. The C250 runs a 16.1 1/4 of a mile and not a 14.9 either.
Stick a new 328i in Comfort or Normal mode and you'll have a hard time telling the difference between it and a new C-Class. A 328i is, quite simply, the best car you can buy with money.

I just find it kinda hard to believe that these cars ran high 14's and high 13's...Nice cars though. Not an import type of guy, but the BMW 3 series is definitely the best car out there at the moment.
Problem is benz's product cycle is 2-3 years behind so by the time they catch up bmw is about to put out another one, both are good cars, choose what you like, bmw will probably always win this segment since they invented it.

The C63 AMG Black Edition should never be put in the same sentence as a 3 series . What were you thinking comparing a 6.2 liter V8 rocket to a 2 liter 4 cylinder family sedan ? And if you had ever driven a C63 AMG BE you'd know it's NOT more comfortable and definitely not more practical than an everyday 3 series .
Its hard to take you seriously when you say the Benz 7 speed automatic is a failure. Seems like silly comment to me.
c300= v6 3 litre engine, how does that make a fair comparison? c250 and 328i share similar idea (4cyl turbocharged engine) which makes it more fair. you don't compare car just based on horse power
Shouldn't the 328i be compared with the C300? And then the 335i compared with the C350? Idk as much as i love these two cars, it's pretty obvious that the BMW wins in most major categories. the C300 has 228 hp, which STILL isn't as much as the Bmw but you could actually do a fair comparison then.
i dont think the C250 can do 0-60 in 6.4s. the audi A4 with a bigger engine, more hp/tq does it in around the same time
these are considered small sport sedans thats why performance matters
haha yeah I don't see it. The price might be one thing, the new dodge dart get slightly better milage and you can get one for as little as under $18,000, which is a bargain. But you don't get that beautiful look, performance, and branding.

So, which is better?
Depends on what your preferences are.
I love direct steering feel and a four door sports car, so I'll stick with BMW and have been for the last 12 years.
While the BMW may be the more responsible choice , I'd rather have the C class . This is just ANOTHER 3 series . Everybody has a 3 series .
On paper BMW wins, in real life, it really just depends on person and their needs, but theirs no questioning that BMWs engine and drive train is better

But these cars arent priced the same... the BMW starts at 35k but launches up near 50k when you want to equip it adequately. the NEXT step up on the c-class (an AWD 228 hp C300) is what is about the same price when nearly fully loaded.
Regardless, the BMW still wins...
The 3-series is more fresh than the Merc because its a new gen .. where is the C is a face lifted updated version like what he said. so its normal to find the Bavarian car more attractive BUT wait for end of next year to see what the brand new C-class is going to be. i love Mercedes but i think the 3-series wins again specially now.

C 63 AMG Black Edition is better than any 3-series Beemer. It's faster (track & drag), more fun, more comfortable, more powerful and more practical. It does not matter who invented what - and after all, Benz invented the concept of A CAR. That's why they always win. Well they don't, but I'm just trying to follow your logic.

The '28' in 328i doesn't even correspond to anything these days.
Comfort in a German car? You mean the hard as rocks seats? The cheap plastic on the dashboard? The A/C that is standard on 99.9% of all American cars? Most buyers have children who are already too old to ride with the parents. Ride comfort? You mean the hard as rocks springs?
German cars are 4 hour trip cars at best.
Mercedes are supposed to shift smoothly. that's why they don't shift as fast as BMW. I just do not think Mercedes and BMW compete. They are both Champions, just in two different leagues.
