    Great context and very informative. I have been watching your videos since finding your channel.
    My father passed not to long ago and left me his 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe sport .
    I have been watching trying to learn as much as possible. I recently have been trying to figure out a burning oil smell with no leaks I can find.
    The fluid levels have been consistent.
    All information I have came across says spilled oil burning off. A neighbor was kind enough to pop off the plastic cover to the engine and inspect all the areas you would find oil if it leaked but nothing. He said the same thing but it's been a over a month with the smell. I don't drive it much and it only has 84,000 miles. It starts and runs fine. I have a appointment with the dealership since not much luck with local garages not adding an extra. I was just trying to get more information before the appointment so they don't surprise me with anything.
    Thank you for the great content as always
    Have a great day

I replaced the tires, changed the oil, did tune ups and nothing else. She drove that car to Burning Man 4 times, from California to North Dakota 4 times, and all over the Sierra Nevada mountains. I had a moderate power steering leak in my Nissan Maxima 2002 to point fluid could not flow properly in system and the power steering system was whining/acting like it didn't have fluid. Lucas Stop Leak would not stop it. I put some AT 205 in the stop leak and my power steering stopped leaking in one application the power steering no longer leaks. That was hundreds of miles/ months ago. Cleaned out all the gunk old steering fluid under car and I drive it like nothing is wrong. AT 205 is powerful stuff.

    The rear main seal in my 1999 miata has a slight leak. I would have to drop the transmission to replace the seal. I purchased the AT 205 reseal on your recommendation so come summer I will give it a try. I does not leak when the car is sitting, only a few drops after a drive or after the engine has run.

  • @Bay0Wulf

    I’ve successfully used the AT-205 for transmission and oil leaks.

    That is a low mileage Matrix. My 2005 Vibe is at 298,000 miles and is dry as a bone underneath. Odometer will quit at 299,999 miles, I have another cluster ready to pop into it. Going for 400,000 miles.
    The TPMS light being on may not be a tire sensor, on my AWD the TPMS is part of the ABS system, monitors wheel diameter. If a tire is low the ABS system alerts the TPMS system. Temp changes drive the system crazy.

    It's "zippier" because it's a 2zz with a lot more power than the 1zz. That's also why the intake is metal, not the year. I'm surprised that Scotty doesn't know this already.

  • @CopperheadGamingChannel
    @CopperheadGamingChannel 11 месяцев назад +1

    Scotty the reason its zippier is that the xrs has the 2zz-ge engine, higher reving, and substantially more power than the 1zz-fe in your matrix, i had the 2004 matrix with the same engine as yours, the difference between the engines is the 2zz-ge is a performance oriented engine, the 1zz-fe is a lean burn, fuel economy engine, look into the engines before your say the transmission is the reason, i guarantee if that 2zz-ge was running fully right that youd notice a bigger difference, ie running a fuel injector cleaner and clean the MAF and they wake right up

    A bad catalytic converter equals loss of HP, much noise, and an expensive repair. I like the idea of using a dye to find the oil leak. Thanks, Scotty for another entertaining video.

  • @JAVIERFSG3
    @JAVIERFSG3 11 месяцев назад +2

    This is a 2zz engine. They are notorious for developing timing cover gasket leaks when high in mileage, also the 6 speed c60 transmission is not very long lasting if you like giving it constant abuse. First signs of the trans being worn is gear notch or grind when going into third, and occasional second gear lock out. There are other few achilles heels on this powertrain but other than that the XRS matrix and corolla even the celica gts are rare now and very well underestimated since they never got the spot light like Honda B and K series did.

    Secondary air injection pump pumps air into the cat for the first min upon starting to hurry up the heating of the cat to get it to do its emissions thing faster. When the pump goes it usually is because it sucks up water and pumps water into the cat.....i.e. the rattle in the cat. They rot out the comb inside it and the inexpensive expensive pump turns into a very expensive exhaust job. You dont really want to ignore that. The pump is whats killing the converter

      One of my bosses from about 10 years ago had an early 2000s blazer that she was stopped in traffic idling and got rear ended…the airbags didn’t go off with the rear end impact but she’s a shorter woman…about 5’ tall….it was when her blazer rolled forward and slightly bumped the car in front of her that made the airbags go off…she was fine before they went off…afterwards she had a broken nose, both eyes bruised and swollen shut and whiplash….from the airbags…if they hadn’t gone off, it would have been minor damage easily fixed but since she lived in a liberal state at the time and had to have the airbags replaced etc…it cost her a damned fortune just to have those stupid airbags replaced ….so yeah…airbags are a damned joke ….they go off when they shouldn’t and don’t when they should from my experience…every accident I’ve been in they’ve never gone off which is fine by me…I’d rather have them removed altogether because I’m a 5’ tall petite female that probably wouldn’t have much luck with them not causing more damage then the accident itself caused like my boss did …

      @@w8what575 Newer vehicles have weight sensors in the seats to reduce the airbag force for lighter individuals. It is likely your bosses car didn't have that feature. Airbags should not go off from a rear impact. Likely the whiplash was from the rear impact, but it could made worse from the airbag. Airbags sensors are calibrated to not deploy below certain G force, comparable to about a 20 to 25 mph collision with a fixed object. I've seen lots of collisions where the front of the car was destroyed and the airbag likely saved the persons life.

    It has a metal intake manifold because it's the 2zz engine rather than the 1zz in Scotty's matrix. The 2zz revs a lot higher than the 1zz and can produce up to 190hp naturally aspirated.

      scotty really hated the 2zz in the last gen celica but for some reson he loves it in the matrix/corolla xrs models. Still the same engine lol, but I guess it gets more abused in the celica and breaks more often. Also the same engine that lotus used in the Elise and in the Exige with a supercharger

      @@DeepRacer-zr4ypWe used to have a Corolla Runx Z. It is a Japanese import. In New Zealand, It's very common to get a Japanese import. We bought it without knowing it had the 2zz. It was a great car while we had it and regret selling it.

      @DeepRacer-zr4yp Scotty says in previous videos that the 2zz has issues due to the high revs. People buy a Celia because of it's sporty look and they will generally drive them harder. People with Corollas are more conservative drivers so the engine is kept at lower RPMs so they are pretty reliable for the average driver.

Toyota had and has kept buried a pretty heavily complained bearing issue with the manual 5 speed transmissions in the matrix (and I believe its the same tranny in the corollas and Vibe those years). The 03, 04, and 05 were the worst and they slowly improved things over the four or five years. It seems less common by 07

    Years ago my cat convert went out on my car, so I cut it out , turned it sideways, beat it with a hammer to get all of the crap out of it and put the housing back into the exhaust system and drove it without the cat for 13 years with the check engine light on.
    My car got better fuel mileage without it and it didn’t hurt the engine.
    When I sold the car, I told the new owner that it had no cat and dropped the price by $300 for the price of a universal cat.
    I had a 79 Ford F150 and as soon as the warranty expired I ripped out all the smog crap, took a broomstick handle to the gas tank filler tube, to make it bigger so that I could run leaded regular gasoline in the truck.
    Before I took all of the smog cap off, I was getting 13mpg and after taking all of it off, I got 17mpg. The F150 had a 302 (5.0L) V8 and a 3spd automatic transmission.
    It was a great pickup.
    It belonged to my grandpa and I needed a 4WD, so I sold it in 82 and bought a new F150 4WD with the 4.9L (inline 6cyl) and the 3spd automatic transmission. I got 21mpg on that F150.
