I am so sad that Judith Durham passed away at the age of seventy-nine this weekend. I have watched many tributes to this great lady. She has always brought a smile to my face when I listen to her voice. May she rest in peace. She truly is an angel.

These B&W British films from the mid 1960's are completely unique in feel - they really evoke a time and place like few other films do.

I was familiar with this song for a long time and I always thought it sounded like a 1960s movie theme, so I knew it was a movie for a while too. But I surprised to find out it was a black and white film. I guess I always thought the song sounded colorful for lack of a better word.

Lynn Redgrave, was a wonderful actress and will always be our Georgy Girl... We lost her way too soon. It was a tough year for this family losing two other members.. My heart goes out to them.. We will never see the likes of the 60s again, I was born in 1960, remember the late 60s.. besides the war times were so much better in the 60s and 70s... What has happened to us...? Our first car with a stereo radio was a 69 Pontiac Bonneville, recall this song playing going to Texas on vacation RIP Lynn

Judith got flak for leaving the group and not until years later did she realize what she had done and she felt guilty and made up it when they reunited.

Triple fantastic especially in the middle live version. She's so infectiously bouncy while hardly even moving much. And the quality of the voice obviously goes without saying. Go Judith.

Judith strongly self-identified with the Georgy character. She had a near-fatal brain hemorrhage in 2013. Fortunately she survived. I sent her this song that composed itself in my head, to a very recognizable tune, after I met an Australian girl at an open mike night. I e-mailed it to Judith, and an aide replied that she was thrilled with it.

    Hey there, Judith Durham
Leading up The Seekers through the years
You and all your mates gave us lots of fun
And memories too - then suddenly
    Hey there, Judith Durham
You had quite the nasty scare that May
But your mates stood by you all the way
    And you pulled right through
You ne’er were scared of changing and rearranging yourself
Nor scared of jumping down from the shelf
    More than a little bit
    Hey there, Judith Durham
You had quite the rocky road ahead
But you brought out all the strength you hid
And, oh, what a change there's been
The world has seen a new Judith Durham

I love the song "Georgy Girl" since I was a little boy, but I don't recall ever seeing the movie. I'm hearing lyrics by the Seekers on a song that I have loved all my life. It's weird, fascinating and cool all at the same time. Notice, at 2:29, The Seekers are singing their farewell concert, and they're singing GG very fast. They finished it in 2 minutes. Thanks for posting this great video! I'm always window shopping but never stopping to buy. I can relate to Georgy Girl. I'd be Georgy Boy lol

This is why I check first to see if someone else has posted what I plan on posting, which was merely the end of the film. I always loved the tune as a young'un in the 60's and just cracked up when it came on when I finally watched the film years later.
Love the joy in the live performance.
You have done a far finer job than I was going to, so thanks!

That's interesting, I'd never heard the original lyrics which are slightly different than the recorded version.
(Hey there/Georgy Girl/Give yourself a treat like most girls do/Get another hairstyle too/And oh what a change there'd be..)
When I think about the lyrics I'm not sure I like the sentiment though, its all about changing your appearance and I never thought I say that, I really like The Seekers.
