What if Roo is actually Eve? Since it is speculated that Roo is short for “Root of All Evil”, it would be a fitting sinner name for Eve. By eating the forbidden fruit, she can be blamed for ultimately being the one to bring evil into the world.
I don’t know, The thing is, the Intro implies Evil existed before Eve ate the Apple. It just didn’t exist on earth. I think Roo, simply gained a Host when Eve Ate the Apple and was able to reach earth.

Could Roo actually be the tree of knowledge? I think it would very interesting if Roo is not a person but a plant. The roots spread everywhere and can eventually break even the strongest of stones overtime.
I actually respect the fact Vivezipop didnt add a "God" figure as it would probably cause a tonn of drama with certain religion beliefs and might be seen as mockery towards religions. I dont think theres a god in Hazbin because in EP1's story tale, shouldnt it say that Heaven was rules by "God" not Angels. It also said "Heaven cast out Lucifer and his love..." instead of "God cast out Lucifer and his love.." Im a religious guy. And ive liked this show since the pilot 👍😎 Edit: now with the full season out i think there will always be a presence of god but we wont actually see god, nor will he interfere with the events of Season 2. Honestly, I kind of like this theory more than the Lilith one. I still think Lilith is connected to Alastor in some way, I just would prefer Roo to be his handler instead. Like she's behind both of their disappearances. But that's mostly because the obvious theories are predictable and boring.
Roo aka the Root of Evil is such a mystery. Viv releazed two artworks of her. One where she as a more humanoid form, and than a demon form. But in the storybook, you can see this dark shadow figure with an evil smile, which is dispicted as the embodiment of all evil. So is this Roo's true form? Also, along with the evil shadow, where was a light spirit shown in the storybook, so maybe this is the origin of all the good in the universe. Are both this individuals together the tree of good and evil?
A theory of mine is that Roo might be the one who has Alastor on a leash and not Lillith. I believe Roo is Alastor's benefactor and why he is especially powerful compared to all of the other Overlords. Not to mention, both of them give Eldritch vibes. That being said, Alastor still likely has some connection to Lillith. They did disappear at the same time, after all. My guess is that Alastor met his match with the Queen of Hell. So maybe Alastor is actually on two leashes? Oh man, that would be wild.
If this theory is true, I think the connection between Alastor and Lilith becomes more interesting If Alastor is really helping Charlie with the hotel because Lilith asked him to, I think it's may be because Lilith might have promised Alastor a way to break his deal with Roo or whoever has his soul This is just in case Lilith isn't the one Alastor made a deal with.
@@hewwersyeah I think being on two leashes would be a stretch, BUT I wonder if Alastor sold his soul when he was alive so that he came to hell all powerful and regretted it when he realized what that meant for him in the afterlife, and approached Lilith for some way to combat that. I'd imagine since they were the first two women, their powers probably match each other's in some ways and she might be the only one who could possibly help him, and him the only link that Lilith can use to get to Roo. I think Roo was the one that Alastor had originally made a deal with when he appeared in hell and kill the overlords. But after his battle with Vox and during his seven years dissapearance, Lilith maybe trap or forced Alastor to have his soul(s) bound to her and sent him to help his daughter. Alastor though view this opportunity to get close to Charlie so that he can work out his release of Lilith and get back to serving Roo. Maybe that's way he's bothered by Lucifer because he see the Morningstars as an obstacle or because he hates him by proxy of what Lilith did to him
Honestly, I'm hoping that Sera somehow gets punished for her actions. I mean sure she doesn't like the extermination but has to do it for certain reasons. But since she's the one calling all of the shots she should still get some sort of comuppance.
Meh, the one that for CERTAIN should be punished is Adam, and I think that he just convinced Sera that hell was uprising because he wanted to kill demons.
She is also the one who banished Lucifer, I don't think she will be punished as she is heaven born, the same way demons are hell born. She is spared from judgement as she was built from Goodness (rather than Evil). She made a mistake sure, but it was not from malice but rather from the perspective of protecting heaven from evil (that she sees in sinners).

I think Root could be the hell itself that gives influence on sinners and hellborns , and maybe Sera , Adam and Lute wanted to prevent her development but they did it in the wrong way and got corrupted , maybe Adam was already the first one corrupted by the root of evil and was used as a weapon against it
I think roo's power gets stronger the more sinners appear in hell. This would explain the yearly extermination and why Sera thinks it would protect heaven and prevent an "uprising"

@@Galaxy-jy9wl i suspect that roo feeds off death in general (death was not part of the natural order of the world before eve ate the fruit, it came of a consequence) so roo's powers might be influenced/ strengthrened by death in general on top of any evil actions taken. the root of all evil is & will by nature grow stronger continuously overtime. even the king & queen of hell would crumble before the overwhelming power & cunning of all the worlds evil.
I like the “Sleeping God” take on how God’s role in the Hellaverse will be and that the angels are just doing the best they can.😊 I think Eve most likely is Roo or at least once she ate from the Tree of Knowledge and died, became the new vessel for this evil figure.🤔 Also, since Viv said that when a Sinner is killed, their energy flows into the surrounding area, which is still Hell, so it’d be crazy and interesting if the whole planet is alive (like Unicron) and it’s feeding off that energy from the Extermination and getting stronger.😳😥

I just had a crazy idea. What if the higher being that naturally sorts out the souls actually meant for redemption from hell to heaven and vice versa. Lucifers intended job was to find the sinners that try to redeem themselves and take them to heaven when they have. The heaven seraphim's job was to find winner souls that have devolved into sin when they got in, to kick them out. Because the being doesn't speak to them and doesn't move souls around after initial sorting, they started to think the afterlife's were meant to be eternal.
I wonder if it'll turn out that Sera and Lucifer are related in some way. Siblings perhaps? They both come from the same order of angels, and both of them are associated with younger members of their family who seem eerily similar to one another in terms of personality, Emily and Charlie respectively 🤔
I think that Archangel Michael is Emily's father. Michael is often depicted as Lucifer's brother, which would make Charlie and Emily cousins explaining their similarities. It would also explain how Lucifer still is able to pull some strings in heaven to allow Charlie to go up

With people saying Roo is the "root of all evil", I have an interesting hypothesis. What if, when Lucifer gave Eve the fruit and "let evil into the world", that created not only hell but also Roo? (Whether Roo is Eve or some other manifestation, I'll get to in the next paragraph.) Roo was immediately so powerful that she took control and started commanding Sera and the angels. Even though we see Sera casting Lucifer and Lilith into hell, maybe she was somehow forced to by Roo, who also then -- from that moment on forever -- decided which humans go to heaven and which go to hell. She watches over Sera, and maybe also Emily, through the eyes that appear on their bodies, so they're always under her thumb. Sera said she wanted to protect Emily from anguish by not telling her about the extermination; maybe part of that was not letting her know they're under the thumb of the most evil entity in existence. And if Roo *is* a transformed Eve... that makes sense that she'd let her husband, Adam, into heaven, even though he's a massive dickhole, while casting Lucifer and Lilith -- the people who unintentionally turned her into this creature -- into hell. Juuusssstttt some thoughts.
If that does happen to Emily, I'd like to think that even she gets sent to Hell it won't be all bad. Because at least Emily wouldn't be alone down there, I mean I'm sure Charlie would let her stay at the hotel. And even though Sera would miss Emily, I'll bet deep down she would be both thankful and or grateful that Charlie would be looking after Emily.
It might actually be a matter of time. Sera may have been trying to keep Emily safe and from being fallen, but her actions, and/or inactions, could cause her to leave Heaven to see the condition the Pride Ring is in and try to help.
Its actually really possible. From "you didnt know" we know that Emily is a rebel. We saw sir pentious being reborn in Heaven, so that means Emily could be cast to Hell as the opposite
I’m wondering if Roo is the one who is holding Alastor's soul, not Lillith like others have been theorizing. By having Alastor at the hotel, Roo has eyes on the Princess of Hell. If Roo is Eve (being corrupted after eating the apple of knowledge), she may blame Lucifer for what has happened to her and wants to corrupt something he loves, Charlie. Having an inside man to push and manipulate Charlie into a corner where, perhaps, she makes a deal with Alastor, which in turn would give Roo hold over Charlie. That may be the power boost Roo needs to enter and corrupt Heaven even further, which is what Sera is truly afraid of. That’s just my theory, but I’m excited to see where the story goes in the long run😊

In the opening story of ep 1, a black figure with red eyes(that many people assume is roo) and a white figure are shown, could it be the (root of all) Good? Or even God? And what about the hand in the final of ep 6? Was it another ancient angel? Or God? Either God doesn't exist in Hazbin's universe, or his revelation is going to be incredible
If Root of All Evil will exist in this story I would also think the Tree of Life will also exist. The tree of life is basically the tree that exists in God’s room. Also I just think the root of all evil is just the tree of knowledge between good and evil. Not a being that existed before God or with God but created by God to house all the evil and sins created from her birth that happened when Adam and Eve ate the apple. Also I think God does exist but Viv has said she doesn’t plan to show Him in the show. Reasons for why God exists is because there’s a lot of references to him, the background image for an episode in Helluvaboss has a saying that is quoted to come from God. Blitzo says “Christ on a stick” alluding to Jesus, the Cherubs explicitly state not to use the Lord’s name in vain and if you noticed around Heaven and Heaven’s embassy as well as some of the angel’s clothing the symbol of the cross is shown. The cross only exists as a religious symbol because of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. But the strongest piece of evidence is St. Peter. Just the concept and word Saint was created by the Catholic Church and Peter was a follower of Christ who so devoutly followed his teachings to the point he refused to be crucified upwards and instead requested it to be downwards since he didn’t feel worthy enough to have the same death as Jesus. The fact he exists can only mean that the Catholic Church exists, that Jesus exists, and God exists.
Lute does mention that "dad, gave you, and your hellborn kind a pardon from an exorcist blade". But like in Imajica by Clive Barker, Hapexamendios or God resides in the First Dominion as an entity of the plane itself. So God and Roo could be similar

the concept of Roo could work as out as her being Hell itself, as hell was seemingly created when the apple was first eaten, and Roo could be the physical manifestation of hell itself, potentially corrupting Eve into Roo when she ate the fruit of knowledge. maybe the actual reason for the extermination could not just be to prevent overpopulation as well as the prevention of rebellion, but also to feed Roo the souls of the damned slain by holy arms. maybe the weapons themselves don't actually kill demons or sinners souls them, a whole dark soul from the dark souls situation where such beings can technically never die, but instead being slain by a holy weapon instead brings you to roo to be devoured, to saciate her hunger and remain content.
I have a theory about Roo, perhaps roo is really the “Root of all evil” which made its way to earth after eve accepted the apple of forbidden knowledge from Lucifer. And the annual extermination may be caused by the fact that Roo is consuming the souls of hell every new year and basically hibernates for the rest, as she needs power to grow and the exterminations kill the souls or turn demons hiding away every new year, which leaves Roo with not enough souls to consume. As sera said in the song “You didn’t know” to Charlie: “But there’s a part that you don’t know” in response to her idea of redeeming souls in heaven and cancelling the annual extermination. And perhaps Sera is afraid that when Roo has consumed enough souls will rise to consume the inhabitants of heaven. But one question poses then why send sinners down to hell. It could also be that she feeds Roo that way so she does not go starving and doesn’t arise up to heaven.
We have the Von Eldritch family. And Stolas mentions 'Astrogoths tears' for the meteor shower. So there is some Lovecraftian elements. So Roo could be this being of primordial chaos. Since God as an entity may no exist maybe there's something more ancient and impossible. I could see Heaven and Hell uniting to take on Lovecraftian Horrors in the End Times. Maybe even the Sins being involved.
I have a weird theory what the Goetic demons are the Watchers or at least in some way tied to heaven because of the imagery in heaven that looks like them. It would also make sense that they have a way to reach the mortal world and have such a heavy emphasis on knowledge, prophecy and the stars. I just can’t get over how much their designs align with the angels and that one door in heaven looks so much like Stella. 1:08

Its actually not a suspiction. According to their mythology, the goetia demons were angels that were casted to Hell. Theyre just like Lucifer, but not as powerful. If anything, theyre his followers
Roo could be either the cosmic darkness that was there before the angels started creating or Eve the first sinners and the strongest as she has had a near infinite amount of time to gain power.
Perhaps the primordial chaos is actually the result of a previous universe finally reaching a heat death and restarting all of creation all over again through the big bang. Literally, an infinite cycle.
I have a theory that if it is true and that souls need to be sacrificed to a primordial being that Sera is using the extermination as a cover for said sacrifice and the angel weapons are tools of sacrifice to feed the primordial. I mean think about it how in the bloody hell can the exterminators keep leaving so many supposed soul killing weapons behind every extermination? how could heaven even PRODUCE all of those weapons that they leave behind every year and have anyone in heaven not know about it?

I'm happy the series is sorta going back to the mystery that the old comics where laying down years ago, back when Vaggie and Angle where dating, that there where people who did way worst acts and some how go to heaven and the main cast got sent to hell and they didn't understand why. A lot of this lore just wants me to reread Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice because he talks about the same issue and how he doesn't want to hurt either side good or bad, he is only try to benefit himself or others. While i see Lucifer as Memnoch and also hurt that he was cast out and forced to suck up his own pride. He also mentions to Lestat (vampire) the similar creation story that Charlie told only from a different perspective
Kinda off topic, but I really want to know, what you think about Lwa (voodoo spirits) in Hellaverse. One thing I still can't get behind is original source of Alastor's power. He is using voodoo magic, which implies that he has some sort of pact with Lwa (voodoo spirits) of Petwo family (they are considered to be the "bad" ones of Lwa families), with whom he could make contact while still being alive, leading to him having a lot of power when he just got in Hell. If you need proof, there are always veve's (sigils, each one representing it's own Lwa spirit) around him when he uses a lot of magic. These sigils are very simplified in this season (either because it's just easier to draw or because of that Twitter drama 3 or so weeks ago), but still recognizable. You can see those better in the pilot, when he speakes with Charlie at 24:11.For example, the one that looks like cross is the veve of Papa Legba, lwa responsible for the connection between mortals and lwa; cross in the circle is a veve of Met Calfu, he is the one who channels magic to mortals from other Lwa's; the one you can see when Alastor summons Husk behind Husk's head is veve of Ayizan, she controls market and deals. I could continue, but I think that this is enough. Pilot is still canon to the show, so Alastor is still using voodoo. Lwa are pretty interesting because everything of Alastor's character points out on them existing in the Hellaverse, but noone ever mentioned them, and we don't even know their power level, could be weaker than Goetia or Sins, could be on the same level but limited by Alastor being just a sinner. My theory is that Roo is the route of all evil, that Sera wants to stop by killing sinners (this would paint the Extermination as a good thing from their perspective) but as we know a sinner is absorbed into hell once they die. I think this is in fact feeding Roo so the way the exterminations end is by Sera and the elders working with Hell to kill this entity. Thus stopping the Extermination and possibly having a sinner be redeemed thus allowing Charlies goal to succeed
In the story that Charlie was telling, she said that angels worshiped good, who is the opposite of evil, which could be Roo if she's the Root of Evil, the same one Martha mentions in Helluva Boss before trying to sacrifice Blitzo and Millie, I have the theory that the angels were created by that Good
I want to know if it's just coincidence that the angels look like the goetia. The art on the wall in the court room (@9:18) looks a lot like Stella, Stolas's wife in Helluva; and there are other blink and miss it sort of similarities shown.
The way it sounds, the promised pitch of a hotel that reforms sinners was merely the prologue to a much grander story to possibly decide the fate of all realms? Neat.
After me and my brother watch an episode we talk about what we think of it. My brother's theory was that they already accepted someone who got "redeemed" and something bad happened. So now they aren't allowed to accept souls from hell anymore, I'm guessing that can explain why they have a list sistem. But if that did happen Emily would be aware of it. But thats just theory, a film theory!
Listen to you lay it out, the thing I kept getting reminded of was Elden Ring, specifically how the various endings all involve trying to impose one form of order or another on the world, all except for the generally accepted "true" ending in which they forego all of this and embrace the unknown. Sera literally does not know the answers, and she's terrified of what they might possibly be. As for the whole "born of chaos" / "absorbed into chaos" thing... Well, that could just as easily be a metaphor for The Big Bang and The Big Crunch. It probably is a thing, but not one that will occur in any conceivable time that any of them could comprehend. Though there probably are a lot of demons who fantasize about being as you described. I'm not looking at Roo though. I'm looking at Alastor.
Ok my theory is that roo is actually the leftover evil being reborn over and over they may be an elderich being born after the big bang just floating around, after the planets and galaxies where created they slithered to all these planets and galaxies planting their seed until the end of all life happens again growing stronger by each doomsday happens. Including another big bang the planets explode or just drift away like many galaxies she gains her powers back growing more stronger that not even the sleeping gods can defeat them unless they are awake.
Roo is almost 100% Eve, Since Eve was the first to eat the fruit of good and evil. She is quite literally the root of why sinners go to hell. She is probably also the one that keeps Alastor on a leash. When there was a flashback when Charlie was a kid. “Lilith’s” face is blurred out. Why would her face be blurred out? Especially when there’s a picture of her face in the background. (Lucifer also said during the fight with Adam that he slept with both Lilith AND Eve. Perhaps Charlie is revealed to be Eve’s daughter instead?) Also, instead of Lilith sending Alastor to help Charlie out. Maybe Eve sent him to sabotage Charlie’s plan out of envy of how Eve ended up in hell because of Lucifer and Lilith. Maybe she tricked Lucifer to sleep with her in spite of Lilith?
If Roo is a big bad then the extermination might be a way to keep the character asleep. It would explain why Sera was willing to allow it and her line about there being much Charlie doesn't know. All life did come out of the dark and there's no guarantee that the current universe and its inhabitants are the original. If thats the case Roo could be a entity from before, one that lives and thrives in the dark and evil. But hey its just a fun little thought.
Thechinally Lucfier didn't give free will to humans, but knowledge as even Charlie said it was the apple of knowledge, humans already had free will, but had no knowledge which is why they can eat the apple if they didn't have free will they couldn't have sin to begin with
The fact that we never see Liliths face except for the sinister smile makes me think she's set up for the obvious villain. Roo likely hitchhiked a ride, possessing Lilith. As for the souls that go to heaven and hell. Roo likely has some unknown influence/effect on souls, and those that are "marked" by Roo are destined for hell even if they might have been good people, while others like Adam who are clearly not fit for heaven, but untainted by Roo, can enter heaven. (maybe, rough theory)

Here's my theory that Alastor is actually chained by Roo, who could possibly be Lilith and she send him to spy on Charlie, Charlie believes she's helping hell but Roo must be using Alastor and using Charlie for something, she might have also have Carmila in her graps and was threatening her with her children that why she killed the angel which would soon cause the war
i feel like the extermination is just fueling Roo by releasing a lot of evil energy every year, and Sera is just playing into what they want- she just doesnt know it and assumes this is actually weakening Roo, or something like that. maybe a theory on what the releasing of evil energy actually does based on the fact that the accumulation of evil energy causes inanimate objects to develop things like eyes and mouths?
With all the eyes on Roo, I wouldn't say its eve, but def a Seraphim from somewhere down the line. so Sera herself becoming it would still be on the table. But I feel more like it is Sera's "Sister" a Seraphim that came to being at the same time as her. That fell into evil. Then Lucifer showed signs of going down the same path so they exiled him before it could happen to him too. So now Sera is absolutely terrified and traumatized by those events, which makes her Very hard to reason with.

I think Roo may be connected to Eve and the apple she bit from, maybe because of Eve biting the Apple Roo appeared as the Root of all Evil, that’s the vibe I get. Hope Roo and Eve are connected in some way maybe have them be a character that plays both sides of Heaven and Hell, both an angel and demon. Just a thought
I made a character a long time ago that i named El Diablo. My premise was that he was the brother of God and was cast out because he sided with Lucifer in the rebellion. Now he wants nothing more than to constantly devour souls to eventually kill God. I made it that he would have a Soul Bind with Alastor so he could get Charlies soul to bargain with Lucifer to get his soul. My character sound alot like Roo and i have never heard of her before.
My headcanon is that Lucifer and Sera were equally ranked before his downfall and Serenity was created to cover his role after Lucifer fell from grace, which is why she appears younger than Sera. This is also why she's over protective of her and warns her not to step out of line; because she already lost a comrade before and thinks it's her duty to prevent it from happening again.

I'm not just showing up for the Hazbin Holtel videos. I'm showing up for the free education in religion. Great video and I have a theory the exterminations might not just be about keeping the sinners down but also making sure Roo doesn't have an enough souls to feed off of.
My though was that the way viz has been developing the story is that unlike adam's claims things aren't just black and white. there must also be a GRAY and then grey is what i believe Roo (who people believe to be the literal embodiment of the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil") is. but the problem is that this balance isn't being kept, that has happened Roo (whether she is now corrupted or being held hostage im not sure). the thing is that before eve ate the fruit the very existence of the concepts of "good and evil" didn't exist yet just "order" (the word im using to describe when the angels had control over adam and eve). but with humans now having free will "order" no longer exists. the angels must give up the sense of control they have over humans but they are too prideful to do so. i think the ending of the show might very well be the world itself falling apart because the angels continue to grip harder as they lose more and more control. eventually what they grasp will be crushed under their hands.
There is a bigger question now. God is missing and There should be another 3 angels: Azrael(angel of death), Gabriel and Michael. ESPECIALLY MICHAEL. WHERE ARE THESE FELLAS?
Well, in the story that Charlie read involving her parents, when she talks about angels that worshipped good and protected against evil, we saw two silhouettes when they said good snd evil suggesting they might be Roo and God

@@alexsolomon8127 She didn't prove redemption was possible, just that sinners could improve. In HH, they equate "redemption" as sinners LITERALLY climb to Heaven after healing. Angel Dust is still in Hell despite his growth. Now we know that neither side truly understands what or how to achieve this transfer from damnation to salvation. Adam may be subordinate to Sera, but his words clearly carry weight; it was Adam who convinced her the exterminations were necessary. It was Adam who lead the exterminations since its establishment.
I enjoyed the mythology that is going into this show. From the first episode where it was hinted that Lucifers punishment was more to do with seeing the evil he created more than falling. It is a creative punishment, to do something against heavens, not Gods, will and never see the good only the bad of that choice. Lucifer seems to still have a lot of his angelic power and referred to them as such. I am also one of the ones who things heaven either has or is threatening lilith. she used her control over alister to get him to protect charlie. Lucifer probably "separated" from lilith and charlie in order to protect them. Which makes me thing that something Lucifer did is what heaven is counting as rebelling. And in his song in episode 5 song, he sang that he tried Charlie's type of plan before. So I think he tried to get his people out of hell and was punished again. The people of hell don't seem aware of any uprising cause they think the extermination it is about population control. but with the current myth I wonder what if any plans are for the war in heaven.
The drawing of Roo in Hell looks similar to another entity.. That being Ayin, a primordial god who is God's sister and the creator of Hell. Would be fitting for the Root of All Evil, because she quite literally the creator of Hell.

Roo aka the Root of Evil is such a mystery. Viv releazed two artworks of her. One where she as a more humanoid form, and than a demon form. But in the storybook, you can see this dark shadow figure with an evil smile, which is dispicted as the embodiment of all evil. So is this Roo's true form? Also, along with the evil shadow, where was a light spirit shown in the storybook, so maybe this is the origin of all the good in the universe. Are both this individuals together the tree of good and evil?

A theory of mine is that Roo might be the one who has Alastor on a leash and not Lillith. I believe Roo is Alastor's benefactor and why he is especially powerful compared to all of the other Overlords. Not to mention, both of them give Eldritch vibes.
That being said, Alastor still likely has some connection to Lillith. They did disappear at the same time, after all. My guess is that Alastor met his match with the Queen of Hell. So maybe Alastor is actually on two leashes? Oh man, that would be wild.

@@hewwersyeah I think being on two leashes would be a stretch, BUT I wonder if Alastor sold his soul when he was alive so that he came to hell all powerful and regretted it when he realized what that meant for him in the afterlife, and approached Lilith for some way to combat that. I'd imagine since they were the first two women, their powers probably match each other's in some ways and she might be the only one who could possibly help him, and him the only link that Lilith can use to get to Roo.

I think Roo was the one that Alastor had originally made a deal with when he appeared in hell and kill the overlords. But after his battle with Vox and during his seven years dissapearance, Lilith maybe trap or forced Alastor to have his soul(s) bound to her and sent him to help his daughter. Alastor though view this opportunity to get close to Charlie so that he can work out his release of Lilith and get back to serving Roo. Maybe that's way he's bothered by Lucifer because he see the Morningstars as an obstacle or because he hates him by proxy of what Lilith did to him
Honestly, I'm hoping that Sera somehow gets punished for her actions. I mean sure she doesn't like the extermination but has to do it for certain reasons. But since she's the one calling all of the shots she should still get some sort of comuppance.

She is also the one who banished Lucifer, I don't think she will be punished as she is heaven born, the same way demons are hell born. She is spared from judgement as she was built from Goodness (rather than Evil). She made a mistake sure, but it was not from malice but rather from the perspective of protecting heaven from evil (that she sees in sinners).

I think Root could be the hell itself that gives influence on sinners and hellborns , and maybe Sera , Adam and Lute wanted to prevent her development but they did it in the wrong way and got corrupted , maybe Adam was already the first one corrupted by the root of evil and was used as a weapon against it
I think roo's power gets stronger the more sinners appear in hell. This would explain the yearly extermination and why Sera thinks it would protect heaven and prevent an "uprising"

I just had a crazy idea. What if the higher being that naturally sorts out the souls actually meant for redemption from hell to heaven and vice versa. Lucifers intended job was to find the sinners that try to redeem themselves and take them to heaven when they have. The heaven seraphim's job was to find winner souls that have devolved into sin when they got in, to kick them out. Because the being doesn't speak to them and doesn't move souls around after initial sorting, they started to think the afterlife's were meant to be eternal.
I wonder if it'll turn out that Sera and Lucifer are related in some way. Siblings perhaps? They both come from the same order of angels, and both of them are associated with younger members of their family who seem eerily similar to one another in terms of personality, Emily and Charlie respectively 🤔

I think that Archangel Michael is Emily's father. Michael is often depicted as Lucifer's brother, which would make Charlie and Emily cousins explaining their similarities. It would also explain how Lucifer still is able to pull some strings in heaven to allow Charlie to go up

With people saying Roo is the "root of all evil", I have an interesting hypothesis. What if, when Lucifer gave Eve the fruit and "let evil into the world", that created not only hell but also Roo? (Whether Roo is Eve or some other manifestation, I'll get to in the next paragraph.) Roo was immediately so powerful that she took control and started commanding Sera and the angels. Even though we see Sera casting Lucifer and Lilith into hell, maybe she was somehow forced to by Roo, who also then -- from that moment on forever -- decided which humans go to heaven and which go to hell. She watches over Sera, and maybe also Emily, through the eyes that appear on their bodies, so they're always under her thumb. Sera said she wanted to protect Emily from anguish by not telling her about the extermination; maybe part of that was not letting her know they're under the thumb of the most evil entity in existence.
And if Roo *is* a transformed Eve... that makes sense that she'd let her husband, Adam, into heaven, even though he's a massive dickhole, while casting Lucifer and Lilith -- the people who unintentionally turned her into this creature -- into hell.

I’m wondering if Roo is the one who is holding Alastor's soul, not Lillith like others have been theorizing. By having Alastor at the hotel, Roo has eyes on the Princess of Hell. If Roo is Eve (being corrupted after eating the apple of knowledge), she may blame Lucifer for what has happened to her and wants to corrupt something he loves, Charlie. Having an inside man to push and manipulate Charlie into a corner where, perhaps, she makes a deal with Alastor, which in turn would give Roo hold over Charlie. That may be the power boost Roo needs to enter and corrupt Heaven even further, which is what Sera is truly afraid of.
That’s just my theory, but I’m excited to see where the story goes in the long run😊

The thought of Roo’s ever hunger and its need for souls to feed reminds me of the precursors and idea of the universe being its own entity.
In the opening story of ep 1, a black figure with red eyes(that many people assume is roo) and a white figure are shown, could it be the (root of all) Good? Or even God?
And what about the hand in the final of ep 6? Was it another ancient angel? Or God? Either God doesn't exist in Hazbin's universe, or his revelation is going to be incredible

If Root of All Evil will exist in this story I would also think the Tree of Life will also exist. The tree of life is basically the tree that exists in God’s room. Also I just think the root of all evil is just the tree of knowledge between good and evil. Not a being that existed before God or with God but created by God to house all the evil and sins created from her birth that happened when Adam and Eve ate the apple.
Also I think God does exist but Viv has said she doesn’t plan to show Him in the show. Reasons for why God exists is because there’s a lot of references to him, the background image for an episode in Helluvaboss has a saying that is quoted to come from God. Blitzo says “Christ on a stick” alluding to Jesus, the Cherubs explicitly state not to use the Lord’s name in vain and if you noticed around Heaven and Heaven’s embassy as well as some of the angel’s clothing the symbol of the cross is shown. The cross only exists as a religious symbol because of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. But the strongest piece of evidence is St. Peter.
Just the concept and word Saint was created by the Catholic Church and Peter was a follower of Christ who so devoutly followed his teachings to the point he refused to be crucified upwards and instead requested it to be downwards since he didn’t feel worthy enough to have the same death as Jesus. The fact he exists can only mean that the Catholic Church exists, that Jesus exists, and God exists.
Lute does mention that "dad, gave you, and your hellborn kind a pardon from an exorcist blade".
But like in Imajica by Clive Barker, Hapexamendios or God resides in the First Dominion as an entity of the plane itself. So God and Roo could be similar

I have a theory about Roo, perhaps roo is really the “Root of all evil” which made its way to earth after eve accepted the apple of forbidden knowledge from Lucifer. And the annual extermination may be caused by the fact that Roo is consuming the souls of hell every new year and basically hibernates for the rest, as she needs power to grow and the exterminations kill the souls or turn demons hiding away every new year, which leaves Roo with not enough souls to consume. As sera said in the song “You didn’t know” to Charlie: “But there’s a part that you don’t know” in response to her idea of redeeming souls in heaven and cancelling the annual extermination. And perhaps Sera is afraid that when Roo has consumed enough souls will rise to consume the inhabitants of heaven. But one question poses then why send sinners down to hell. It could also be that she feeds Roo that way so she does not go starving and doesn’t arise up to heaven.

We have the Von Eldritch family. And Stolas mentions 'Astrogoths tears' for the meteor shower. So there is some Lovecraftian elements. So Roo could be this being of primordial chaos. Since God as an entity may no exist maybe there's something more ancient and impossible. I could see Heaven and Hell uniting to take on Lovecraftian Horrors in the End Times. Maybe even the Sins being involved.
I have a weird theory what the Goetic demons are the Watchers or at least in some way tied to heaven because of the imagery in heaven that looks like them. It would also make sense that they have a way to reach the mortal world and have such a heavy emphasis on knowledge, prophecy and the stars. I just can’t get over how much their designs align with the angels and that one door in heaven looks so much like Stella. 1:08

Roo could be either the cosmic darkness that was there before the angels started creating or Eve the first sinners and the strongest as she has had a near infinite amount of time to gain power.
Perhaps the primordial chaos is actually the result of a previous universe finally reaching a heat death and restarting all of creation all over again through the big bang. Literally, an infinite cycle.
I have a theory that if it is true and that souls need to be sacrificed to a primordial being that Sera is using the extermination as a cover for said sacrifice and the angel weapons are tools of sacrifice to feed the primordial. I mean think about it how in the bloody hell can the exterminators keep leaving so many supposed soul killing weapons behind every extermination? how could heaven even PRODUCE all of those weapons that they leave behind every year and have anyone in heaven not know about it?

I'm happy the series is sorta going back to the mystery that the old comics where laying down years ago, back when Vaggie and Angle where dating, that there where people who did way worst acts and some how go to heaven and the main cast got sent to hell and they didn't understand why. A lot of this lore just wants me to reread Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice because he talks about the same issue and how he doesn't want to hurt either side good or bad, he is only try to benefit himself or others. While i see Lucifer as Memnoch and also hurt that he was cast out and forced to suck up his own pride. He also mentions to Lestat (vampire) the similar creation story that Charlie told only from a different perspective
Kinda off topic, but I really want to know, what you think about Lwa (voodoo spirits) in Hellaverse.
One thing I still can't get behind is original source of Alastor's power. He is using voodoo magic, which implies that he has some sort of pact with Lwa (voodoo spirits) of Petwo family (they are considered to be the "bad" ones of Lwa families), with whom he could make contact while still being alive, leading to him having a lot of power when he just got in Hell. If you need proof, there are always veve's (sigils, each one representing it's own Lwa spirit) around him when he uses a lot of magic. These sigils are very simplified in this season (either because it's just easier to draw or because of that Twitter drama 3 or so weeks ago), but still recognizable. You can see those better in the pilot, when he speakes with Charlie at 24:11.For example, the one that looks like cross is the veve of Papa Legba, lwa responsible for the connection between mortals and lwa; cross in the circle is a veve of Met Calfu, he is the one who channels magic to mortals from other Lwa's; the one you can see when Alastor summons Husk behind Husk's head is veve of Ayizan, she controls market and deals. I could continue, but I think that this is enough. Pilot is still canon to the show, so Alastor is still using voodoo. Lwa are pretty interesting because everything of Alastor's character points out on them existing in the Hellaverse, but noone ever mentioned them, and we don't even know their power level, could be weaker than Goetia or Sins, could be on the same level but limited by Alastor being just a sinner.

My theory is that Roo is the route of all evil, that Sera wants to stop by killing sinners (this would paint the Extermination as a good thing from their perspective) but as we know a sinner is absorbed into hell once they die. I think this is in fact feeding Roo so the way the exterminations end is by Sera and the elders working with Hell to kill this entity. Thus stopping the Extermination and possibly having a sinner be redeemed thus allowing Charlies goal to succeed

In the story that Charlie was telling, she said that angels worshiped good, who is the opposite of evil, which could be Roo if she's the Root of Evil, the same one Martha mentions in Helluva Boss before trying to sacrifice Blitzo and Millie, I have the theory that the angels were created by that Good
I want to know if it's just coincidence that the angels look like the goetia. The art on the wall in the court room (@9:18) looks a lot like Stella, Stolas's wife in Helluva; and there are other blink and miss it sort of similarities shown.

Listen to you lay it out, the thing I kept getting reminded of was Elden Ring, specifically how the various endings all involve trying to impose one form of order or another on the world, all except for the generally accepted "true" ending in which they forego all of this and embrace the unknown.

As for the whole "born of chaos" / "absorbed into chaos" thing... Well, that could just as easily be a metaphor for The Big Bang and The Big Crunch. It probably is a thing, but not one that will occur in any conceivable time that any of them could comprehend. Though there probably are a lot of demons who fantasize about being as you described.

Ok my theory is that roo is actually the leftover evil being reborn over and over they may be an elderich being born after the big bang just floating around, after the planets and galaxies where created they slithered to all these planets and galaxies planting their seed until the end of all life happens again growing stronger by each doomsday happens. Including another big bang the planets explode or just drift away like many galaxies she gains her powers back growing more stronger that not even the sleeping gods can defeat them unless they are awake.

Roo is almost 100% Eve, Since Eve was the first to eat the fruit of good and evil. She is quite literally the root of why sinners go to hell. She is probably also the one that keeps Alastor on a leash. When there was a flashback when Charlie was a kid. “Lilith’s” face is blurred out. Why would her face be blurred out? Especially when there’s a picture of her face in the background. (Lucifer also said during the fight with Adam that he slept with both Lilith AND Eve. Perhaps Charlie is revealed to be Eve’s daughter instead?) Also, instead of Lilith sending Alastor to help Charlie out. Maybe Eve sent him to sabotage Charlie’s plan out of envy of how Eve ended up in hell because of Lucifer and Lilith. Maybe she tricked Lucifer to sleep with her in spite of Lilith?

If Roo is a big bad then the extermination might be a way to keep the character asleep. It would explain why Sera was willing to allow it and her line about there being much Charlie doesn't know. All life did come out of the dark and there's no guarantee that the current universe and its inhabitants are the original. If thats the case Roo could be a entity from before, one that lives and thrives in the dark and evil. But hey its just a fun little thought.

Thechinally Lucfier didn't give free will to humans, but knowledge as even Charlie said it was the apple of knowledge, humans already had free will, but had no knowledge which is why they can eat the apple if they didn't have free will they couldn't have sin to begin with
The fact that we never see Liliths face except for the sinister smile makes me think she's set up for the obvious villain.
Roo likely hitchhiked a ride, possessing Lilith.
As for the souls that go to heaven and hell.
Roo likely has some unknown influence/effect on souls, and those that are "marked" by Roo are destined for hell even if they might have been good people, while others like Adam who are clearly not fit for heaven, but untainted by Roo, can enter heaven. (maybe, rough theory)
I'm so happy Angel Dust's sister Molly is in this episode!!! 🥰🥰🥰 I absolutely love this character, and I would love to see her and her brother reunite, because they seem to be very close, and miss each other very much considering they're on opposite sides of the afterlife.

Here's my theory that Alastor is actually chained by Roo, who could possibly be Lilith and she send him to spy on Charlie, Charlie believes she's helping hell but Roo must be using Alastor and using Charlie for something, she might have also have Carmila in her graps and was threatening her with her children that why she killed the angel which would soon cause the war

i feel like the extermination is just fueling Roo by releasing a lot of evil energy every year, and Sera is just playing into what they want- she just doesnt know it and assumes this is actually weakening Roo, or something like that. maybe a theory on what the releasing of evil energy actually does based on the fact that the accumulation of evil energy causes inanimate objects to develop things like eyes and mouths?
With all the eyes on Roo, I wouldn't say its eve, but def a Seraphim from somewhere down the line. so Sera herself becoming it would still be on the table. But I feel more like it is Sera's "Sister" a Seraphim that came to being at the same time as her. That fell into evil. Then Lucifer showed signs of going down the same path so they exiled him before it could happen to him too. So now Sera is absolutely terrified and traumatized by those events, which makes her Very hard to reason with.

I think Roo may be connected to Eve and the apple she bit from, maybe because of Eve biting the Apple Roo appeared as the Root of all Evil, that’s the vibe I get.
Hope Roo and Eve are connected in some way maybe have them be a character that plays both sides of Heaven and Hell, both an angel and demon.

I made a character a long time ago that i named El Diablo. My premise was that he was the brother of God and was cast out because he sided with Lucifer in the rebellion. Now he wants nothing more than to constantly devour souls to eventually kill God. I made it that he would have a Soul Bind with Alastor so he could get Charlies soul to bargain with Lucifer to get his soul. My character sound alot like Roo and i have never heard of her before.
My headcanon is that Lucifer and Sera were equally ranked before his downfall and Serenity was created to cover his role after Lucifer fell from grace, which is why she appears younger than Sera. This is also why she's over protective of her and warns her not to step out of line; because she already lost a comrade before and thinks it's her duty to prevent it from happening again.
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT HER, THANK YOU CU! Also wait if Roo is the root of all evil, then wouldnt that mean theres an opposite to her? Like a root of all good or something like that? I mean in the flashback we do see another entity next to her directly(Im assuming the shadow with the big evil smile was her in some way)

I'm not just showing up for the Hazbin Holtel videos. I'm showing up for the free education in religion. Great video and I have a theory the exterminations might not just be about keeping the sinners down but also making sure Roo doesn't have an enough souls to feed off of.
My though was that the way viz has been developing the story is that unlike adam's claims things aren't just black and white. there must also be a GRAY and then grey is what i believe Roo (who people believe to be the literal embodiment of the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil") is. but the problem is that this balance isn't being kept, that has happened Roo (whether she is now corrupted or being held hostage im not sure).
the thing is that before eve ate the fruit the very existence of the concepts of "good and evil" didn't exist yet just "order" (the word im using to describe when the angels had control over adam and eve). but with humans now having free will "order" no longer exists. the angels must give up the sense of control they have over humans but they are too prideful to do so.
i think the ending of the show might very well be the world itself falling apart because the angels continue to grip harder as they lose more and more control. eventually what they grasp will be crushed under their hands.
There is a bigger question now.

Adam is a flunky. the problem is that even though Charlie DID prove redemption is possible....there is still an exponentially growing number of souls that are still quite evil, happy to be so, and threatening to overrun all of creation. this bit about Roo is interesting, but largely theoretical. at this point there's more fan art/theroy's of hazbin Hotel's cosmology than actual evidence...we havne't seen the other Seraphim that feature in a LOT of popular fan work after all.

@@alexsolomon8127 She didn't prove redemption was possible, just that sinners could improve. In HH, they equate "redemption" as sinners LITERALLY climb to Heaven after healing. Angel Dust is still in Hell despite his growth. Now we know that neither side truly understands what or how to achieve this transfer from damnation to salvation. Adam may be subordinate to Sera, but his words clearly carry weight; it was Adam who convinced her the exterminations were necessary. It was Adam who lead the exterminations since its establishment.
I enjoyed the mythology that is going into this show. From the first episode where it was hinted that Lucifers punishment was more to do with seeing the evil he created more than falling. It is a creative punishment, to do something against heavens, not Gods, will and never see the good only the bad of that choice. Lucifer seems to still have a lot of his angelic power and referred to them as such.
I am also one of the ones who things heaven either has or is threatening lilith. she used her control over alister to get him to protect charlie. Lucifer probably "separated" from lilith and charlie in order to protect them. Which makes me thing that something Lucifer did is what heaven is counting as rebelling. And in his song in episode 5 song, he sang that he tried Charlie's type of plan before. So I think he tried to get his people out of hell and was punished again. The people of hell don't seem aware of any uprising cause they think the extermination it is about population control.
but with the current myth I wonder what if any plans are for the war in heaven.
What I'm wondering is where the rest of Lucifer's siblings are. There's no way the entirety of heaven's hierarchy is just Sera and Emily
The drawing of Roo in Hell looks similar to another entity.. That being Ayin, a primordial god who is God's sister and the creator of Hell. Would be fitting for the Root of All Evil, because she quite literally the creator of Hell.
