R.I.P. Alexander Ivashkin. This is one of the very best recordings of Schostakovich No.1. There are a lot, but this recording stands out. In many ways it is the best recording, Ivashkin was able to create something interesting new besides all the Rostro, Ma, etc.recordings. Please, listen to him, it is a great man and musician playing here. Of course he was a virtuoso, but this alone is too simple. He was a great artist.
