The way Crowley's still dancing around the word "couple" by saying they're a "group of two" and how he cuts himself off in the middle of "and I'd like to spend-" both make me so sad. He had a whole speech prepared and it all went out the window when he realized he was about to lose Aziraphale.

seriously it broke my heart like haven't you learned anything?!
The moment they praise him is like he forgot everything and is on Heaven side again. Never actually been on Crowley side. Just when was convenient for him. He helped Crowley last time to stop Armageddon because he liked the life on Earth, his sushi, Albert Hall concerts, bookshop as Crowley says what he would lose to win. He would be taken back to heaven as a principality which is low status but now...well Supreme Archangel that's worth more than running a bookshop and coffee.
And yes noticed that too "You are the bad guys" ouch. He may love Crowley, but he still sees him as the bad guy....even after many years when Crowley saved his ass many times and his beloved books from the Natzi...he still sees him as the bad guy. I would add "We can be together as Angels"...again showing that being with Crowley as a demon is shameful.
When he says "nothing lasts forever" that tips Crowley, like Crowley takes it the way that yes nothing lasts forever, not even their "friendship/love"
He's definitely a bit misguided; having romanticized the concept of 'good' and directly associating that with Heaven for so long means that, despite everything, Crowley being a Demon creates a cognitive dissonance in his mind which can only be fixed by bringing back to the side of righteousness, even when Crowley has time and time again repeated that he is not one for either 'side'

The was good quote Crowley saying "Do you know what I want" Azi responds "I know the Angel you were once" exactly. But azi doesn't really know the demon Crowley is. It's not like Azi didn't see heaven doing bad things, the flood, Job, Golgota etc but Azi doesn't question, doesn't think unlike Crowley always asking questions. Azi has some growing to do. And needs to do it alone now. Crowley shown him as much as he could do through the years but now he needs to see the bad side of heaven by his own and maybe learn the hard way.
Aziraphale briefly embracing Crowley during the kiss makes this scene SO much more painful
For the past... Few(?) Days, every since I finished watching the season, I rewatched this scene over and over and over again, trying to analisy it. I'm like... 60% sure that Aziraphael wanted to hug/embrace Crowley in that moment. Why didn't he do it? That's up for debate, I let everyone have their own ideas and head-canons about it

@@kyraszucs6124I also have the headcanon that neither of them has really delved into their own sexuality (in the series...can't remember if the book brings it up). So kissing was like a couple of teens doing it for the first time. Awkward, confusing...they've observed for millennia but never participated. Let's be honest, that was a very inexperienced kiss. So on top of questioning what is acceptable for angels and demons, the act of romance is completely foreign to them making being instantly smitten from a closed mouth kiss very unlikely.
It breaks my heart to see that Crowley had his glasses on, he uses them like a shield, he didn't have much hope it'll work, it was a goodbye kiss...
One chance is better than no chance at all. . . especially when heartbreak is unavoidable.
I think this was his hail Mary attempt to show his love. He probably saw that this is what humans do when they're in love but if it doesn't work than it's over.
Right before he puts them on, when he tilts his head up you can see he's starting to tear up 😭😭😭

I think Crowley kissed him to try to convince him to stay. He stared at him wondering if it worked. It broke his heart when Aziraphale rejected him.
He couldn’t find the words for “I love you.” His feelings are too enormous for that, So he did the most human thing of all, the thing he knew Aziraphale would understand immediately. A kiss is such a human expression of love, but for an angel and demon on the planet for 6000 years, they both know what it means. No ambiguity, and no nightingales…

Aziraphale isn’t sharing the whole Metatron conversation. There’s a gun at his back i think, has to get Crowley out of harms way. Sheen performs an entire Greek Tragedy on his face; the hand on the back, the eyes bliss mixed with fear, and the step back. “I.. LL…” After Crowley leaves all the honest shit he does before Metatron steps in. yeah no, this wasn’t a rejection.
Notice how Crowley's voice breaks when he's about to say "I'd like to spend the rest of eternity with you"
They're both great actors, but these little details make me madly in love with David.

Aye David's a GREAT actor...He makes me proud to be a fellow Scotsman😊. He's by far one of the BEST Doctors to have ever played Doctor Who. Im so glad he's coming back for the anniversary episode. Doctor who's just not been the same without him. He's tge reason why i even gave this show a chance. If wasnt for him I would have ever known about this show. Am glad I did.
@@BIGDaddioJohnBhe’s not a great actor, he’s a phenomenal actor and HIGHLY underrated. I’ve loved him since Doctor Who. I actually got meet him a few years ago and got a picture with him. He is the nicest person ❤ All of my sci-fi nerd friends have no idea who he is.
@ariannarossi2212 I read a great analysis that said he wasn't actually going to say "spend eternity with you" His assumption going into this scene is that they'll be together like they have for all of history so far - the speech he was planning in his had while Aziraphale was talking to The Metatron is falling apart because he didn't get to say what he was going to say without interruption. He probably was going to say (fan theory) I'd like to spend it not pretending anymore. Maybe he was trying to actually talk about his feelings and say, let's just be open. Let's be a couple. Let's be US and what does that mean. - But in the middle of saying it, he realizes Aziraphale wants to leave and he knows he's not going back to heaven and he's suddenly panicking and going back to his default Let's run away together idea - It's so sad. Neither of them came into the room thinking they were going to break up or wanting to - and that's what ended up happening.
The fear and emotion of saying out loud his deepest want is wow. This dude is so talented.
Imagine season three aziraphale breaks down in an apology to crowley and he just replies with, "...do the 'I was wrong dance.'"

Yep, and when Azi said "nothing lasts forever" that was it for Crowley, he decided then that even their "frienship/love" is not going to last forever and this is it. End. He was chasing and chasing but how long he can be chasing. At some point he got tired. How much he can sacrifice for Azi. He put his safety on the line doing stuff for him saving him when Azi admitted that probably quite often he put himself in danger just for Crowley to save him because "he enjoys saving him". Everybody has some limit and the "nothing can last forever" was the limit for Crowley.

Azi needs to learn the hard way how cruel heaven is. Crowley was showing him but perhaps he needs to experience it so he finally leaves and be on Crowley's side. Crowley grew, Azi still is the silly Angel who gave his sword away. He wants to do good but his version of good is somewhat romanticised and not what Heaven perceives as good. He is just so naive after so many years.

All those popular shows you’ve watched over the past 1/2 decades with two men having dubious romantic chemistry that is never confirmed on-screen but keeps you hooked and hoping and dreaming for representation, right? This just feels... surreal. Like, Az and Crowley kissed on screen. People can’t say you’re crazy. The proof is in the canon. It’s a WILD time to be alive 😅

I watched this epsiode in French too... And in the French dub, Crowley doesn't simply calls Aziraphel as "Angel". He calls him "Mon Ange" aka "My angel". Sweet detail, makes the french dialog flow more fluidly... And break my heart even more

When Crowley says "I would like to spend...mmmmm" and looks away, that breaks me. The acting in this scene by both is fantastic. They got me real good. 💔
Yes. Crowley determined to say his piece but struggling to get it out without breaking down - that's some incredible acting. And Azira's hands hovering over his back during the kiss, not quite able to bring himself to commit to the embrace.

@@Sekhmet7712 I don't know that he is "tired" of chasing Azi. More like eventually you see the futility of banging your head against a wall. Azi has different priorities than Crowley and that is what separates them in the end.
What hurt me even more was when he changed the song in the car. No more "Nightingale," only somber music playing. All he was missing was rain.

Same we paused three times in the middle of the night, the first pause was when Crowley moved towards Az so fast it made us speechless (fake spoilers told us they we'rent going to kiss, WE DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO KISS). We paused and screamed again when they did kiss and cried after the kiss. The rollercoaster we went through, I need to take a ten minute break after each pause 😭

Aziraphale didn’t reject crowley, nor did Crowley reject aziraphale.
They both assumed the other rejected them.
Exactly! So many people seem to be hating on Aziraphale. But being wrong doesn't make him a bad person. They both genuinely want the best for each other and for them as a "group of two", Aziraphale just doesn't get what would actually be the best. And Crowley doesn't have it all figured out either.

It kills me that the reason they aren't together is because both want what is better for the other. Aziraphale wasn't trying to make Crowley better again, he wanted him to be happy again, and the happiest he'd seen him was when he was an angel

Can we just take a moment to fully appreciate David & Michael's acting here? It's absolutely wild how well they sell this whole scene. It's all I've been able to think about for days --- I'm so emotionally scarred & that's only possible because they transform into these characters so well. Bravo!! ♥️

It's heartbreaking, but fitting, because if it wasn't so well written and didn't match the characters there would be anger. As it is, I'm sad, I'm annoyed because they should've discussed it sooner, but I'm not angry at the writing because it's believable for the characters arc

Aziraphale doesn’t want to “make Crowley good” - he knows (and has said multiple times) that Crowley *is* good. He wants to make Heaven good, like it’s supposed to be, and to him, this is the only way to do that. He thinks it was a mistake that Crowley fell because he’s better/nicer/more moral than all the angels. He wants to rectify this mistake and turn Heaven into the beacon of goodness that he so desperately wants it to be.

Yep this. Dude is too kind...he's better than the apparatus and can't give up trying to make it better. I think Crowley saw this as Aziraphale rejecting him, but Az knows Crowley deserves better...he just struggles to acknowledge that both sides are equally shitty.
Exactly! And Crowley and the other hand knows that God has the last word eventually and that he himself was cast out for trying the exact same thing before... Azi never believed in Crowleys perspective on that important incident in Crowleys life.

2:31 - In the Portuguese version, instead of just saying "Oh, Crowley... Nothing lasts forever", Aziraphale says "Oh, Crowley, _darling_ ... Nothing lasts forever", and I love this change with my whole heart.
Crowley's expression when Azi is trying to convince him to accept the offer goes right back to "how can anyone be so clever and so stupid" from season 1.

Haven't felt like this since Doctor saying goodbye to Rose. Neil knew what he was doing when he was writing this part for Crowley. David just makes this special face after which you know he's gonna deliver break up scene like no one else does. Heartbroken. Amazing performance from both.
My thoughts *exactly*! I'm torn between praising and cursing this scene - it's just so damn well written and acted, but it also hurts so much. And the pain I felt from it immediately reminded me of "Doomsday" 😅

Actually, same though. That was the first time I had ever cried at a tv show. This scene in Good Omens is one of the other times I have now.

As much as it hurst I think this choice IS in character and I hope its not just magic coffee or some bs. Sure the Metatron obviously convinced him. But i like it more as a psychological thign.
As much as Aziraphale loves Crowley and has broken rules,he is still very much seeking the praise from heaven , its like with toxic family members. You are blinded somewhat to their faults bc they ARE your family,especially after time apart or a big change you then feel like you can change sth,maybe now you can have that love, maybe you were WRONG abt them.
And then you go back and in many cases you realise that no, no they ARE toxic! This is why you left the first time around, or started distancing yourself at least bc Aziraphale never really LEFT.

I agree. I hope Crowley goes off and starts spending his life doing what makes him happy, what makes him comfortable. Aziraphale will need to come back, apologize, fight for their relationship, and be a benefit to Crowley's life for Crowley to take him back (imo). My headcanon is that Crowley is the one who buys the cottage in the South Downs. Aziraphale tracks him down there to get him back and realizes quickly that he will need to fight for and join Crowley this time, because (I hope) Crowley will be perfectly happy in that cottage on his own. He can have a garden and a pond with some ducks and maybe some pet pygmy goats 😆
Aziraphale’s giddy little giggle after “only even nicer” makes me so sad 😢 He’s so excited and his love for Crowley is bursting out of him at that moment, visualizing the idea of them together in heaven, but he’s too naive to see what he just suggested to Crowley is a slap to his face
Their acting here is PHENOMENAL. The little micro expressions on Aziraphales face when he realises Crowley is about to make a big confession. The small cracks in Crowleys voice as he is trying to squeeze the words out.

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HOW Aziraphale's expeession shift after Crowley says "no nightingales"??? LIKE I MEAN ITS A REFERENCE TO THE ANGELS DINING AT THE RITZ SONG OR SMTH which is about angels falling in love. So when crowley says that, thats when Aziraphale realizes this has been a love confession basically??? Idk i am going crazy???
Season 1 ended with them dining at the Ritz while a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.
This might be a weird take - this hurts me very much to see, as an ex-catholic. You can see Aziraphale, the faithful christian, struggling with the conflict of what he was taught to believe (outsiders are bad, christians shouldn’t be with outsiders) while Crowley, the apostate, who left for deeply personal reasons, will never cross that line…not even for the one he loves most.
I see it too. Aziraphale always knew Crowley was good deep inside but when Crowley rejected the offer of Angel-hood it might look like proof that he's also a demonic snake that might be tempting him away from good. More than once he's asked Crowley "Are you trying to tempt me?" Crowley was the serpent that tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden after all.
And poor Crowley. He knows both sides are the same side, the side that wants to ruin the world they love and have lived together on. It had to be agony for someone as untrusting as Crowley to confess his true feelings. I wonder if this rejection hit him harder than his fall from Heaven.
this was my same thought. also as an ex-catholic, this was such a raw articulation of how christianity makes you believe that they’re the ultimate good even when they’ve fucked you over. so glad i got out of that years ago
In the last 2 years, I’ve come to realize that Christianity is the one self-denial cult that survived and became successful. I’m lapsed Catholic whose now Norse Pagan, and I’ve found more personal growth and community as a heathen than I ever did as a Catholic.
Wow, you folks have added another layer to it for me - it seems so obvious, but as someone who wasnʻt raised in religion I didnʻt see that angle yet. I got the connection between "Heaven" and institutions, but not the more personal allegory of that for the two of them. Much appreciated.
This is a good take. You add (or might be uncover?) so many layers in it. I would like to know if Neil Gaiman thought of it too.
the moment crowley puts on his glasses again and the walls are up again and he is hiding all his hurt so hard, next time they kiss aziraphale better get rid of those glasses so they can stare into each other's eyes

The way Azi giggles is like a schoolboy who was finally praised by his teacher and given some very rare treat that he badly badly wanted for a long time. Metatron didn't need a miracle he just knew exactly how to play him, what to offer him. He knew also about their arrangement and possibly their love so offered just that knowing very well Crowley will refuse so they split.
Can't wait to see more of Metatron. Super evil.

I understand fans being upset when the arc of a story doesn't immediately go the way you want, but this is obviously part 1 of a longer story. Hopefully, they will get to continue it. I think it will be worth the ride.
Second, I find the kiss to be an expression of the broader relationship between them. I've seen complaints about Crowley non-consensually kissing Aziraphael. What do you expect from a demon? He's not going to ask permission.
Watch Aziraphale's hands during the kiss itself - it's fast but he's shocked, then he wraps his arms around Crowley, embracing him, then realizes he is being kissed by the snake from the Garden of Eden - the ultimate temptation - and throws himself back. Of course he says "I forgive you". He's an angel. Michael packs a lot into those few seconds. I keep watching it, just for the moment he embraces Crowley, even if he recoils because of who they both are.
I no more expect Aziraphale to give up being who he is than I expect Crowley to. Relationships are bloody complex and often painful. I don't expect Gaiman et al to "do it for the fans". He's working with a relationship he created with Terry Pratchett and must be true to the characters and the realities of love. It's amazing how much depth they have packed into two fictional characters.
Finally someone who mentioned Aziraphale’s hands on Crowley’s back! It’s like he wanted to give in then suddenly remembered why he couldn’t 😭. It’s the smallest details that add to the bigger story

Fallen and alone, and lost my only friend(s) in life. But I understand that Aziraphale must be true to himself, just as my lost loves had to be. Of course we can caress and then recoil. These two angels (fallen or otherwise) have become so human over the past 6000 years. Our hearts are breaking for ourselves as much as them.
It's amazing how much time I have spent, over the past week, dissecting every little bit of body language in the scene :D Another thing to consider, it's very likely the very first expression of actual human passion either has ever experienced--Aziraphale seems to be almost lost after, just touching his lips in wonderment....I wildly hope they get to kiss again, when they've had time to think about it!
About the non consesual kiss scene I believe that Crowley was too desperate, they've been together for so many years he doesn't wanted to lose angel. I don't believe Crowley would do anything to hurt Azi on purpose, let's wait and see what Neil will bring us, but to be honest I don't expect a lot of romance between then in the next season. :(
@@anacibelly5088 You may very well be right. If nothing else, the anger some are expressing towards Gaiman for thwarting THEIR desire for romance could lead him away from anything so explicit. And throwing the Second Coming into the plot means there are more important things to deal with than individual romances.
"Crowley was too desperate" - oh, dear how I have felt that myself in my own life. I wish I could have pivoted to acceptance as quickly as he did. I could have saved myself years of anguish and quite a bit of therapy.
The second "Tell me you said no" shattered my poor heart in a thousand pieces...
Aside from my heart having shattered into millions of pieces, 😭 this scene is fascinating purely from an acting perspective. Two characters, trying to persuade the other to essentially do the same thing - joining up together. But Aziraphale is operating on the false premise that Crowley will follow him up to Heaven, despite all the evidence they've gathered for 6,000 years that Heaven is a cold and cruel place that does not have their best interests at heart. Crowley sees the reality of the situation, but Aziraphale does not. A spectacular push and pull happens as each tries to regain control over the situation. It culminates in the kiss, Crowley's last-ditch effort to knock some sense into Aziraphale. But when Aziraphale takes it as a betrayal, Crowley knows he's lost. You feel all the air leave the room as he leaves the bookshop. I don't think this scene would have worked as well if it weren't for David and Michael, two very accomplished Shakespearean actors, who could really lean into this ebb-and-flow power dynamic. Absolutely brilliant.

Crowley doesn't see that nothing is going to persuade Aziraphale to run away from his responsibilities. The running away together is just not going to work and he should have known that. He never even says he loves Az, it's all about you're an idiot, run away with me. Aziraphale does a little bit better with 'I need you' but neither has really proclaimed love for the other
How Aziraphale just almost clings onto Crowley in that kiss but doesn’t fully give in to his feeling… gosh that hurts. He didn’t pull away, he didn’t push Crowley away. Because he wants this so much. But he doesn’t allow himself to give in because he considers it ‘wrong’. He literally isn’t allowed by the system that he still believes in while it’s betraying him. And Crowleys desperate last attempt to make Aziraphale see how he feels, hoping it would change his mind.. End my suffering please

I’m completely floored by Michael’s performance here! How does he do it? You can see Aziraphale’s thoughts process and complex emotions fully displayed here, it’s those if you blink you will miss it tiny moments he does it so well and it’s so clearly the actor puts a lot of thoughts and details into it. In every sentence you can see exactly what Aziraphale is truly feeling, then how he concealed it, then a front that he puts up whether is to protect his ego or tactical . No words need to be spoken, you can tell so clearly how Aziraphale how conflicted is despite the act of the rejection itself seems pretty clear cut.
100% Michael Sheen is now officially my favorite actor because of this role.

I love the reaction of Aziraphale after Crowley says, "No nightingales." He looks stunned. Like his heart stopped. Those two absolutely knew what they were saying to each other by dining at the Ritz. Also, Sheen's deliver of, "I n- I need you!" Top shelf. Love it. They both agree on wanting to be together but don't agree on how.
Ugh. The religious trauma is so strong with Aziraphale. He still thinks he can change a system that is absolutist and stacked against them. This scene breaks my heart cause you can see how much he longs to be with Crowley but his obligations and ideas that have been hardwired into him about what “good” is are holding him back. He’s at war with what he wants and what he believes is the moral thing to do.
The fact that Crowley still waited for Azi after that in case he changes his mind is the most heartbreaking 💔💔💔

I’ve rewatched this multiple times and yesterday I realized that you can exactly pinpoint Crowley’s expressions going from sad to desperate to angry right before he kisses Aziraphael. And even after it you can just see how he goes completely neutral as to not show how heartbroken he actually is about this.. and then in the car It seems as if he was about to start crying? How fucking good do you have to be to pull this whole act off? David is brilliant! (Also Michael but that’s a whole another comment.)

Crowley moved on, he sees that neither heaven is particularly good nor hell particularly bad, all greys. Azi well stays the same, "like the old times" as he says and Crowley doesn't want the old times.
This is one of the few kiss scenes that have actually made me feel butterflies. The emotion the put into it, the desperation to make each other listen, it's a work of art.

Ok let’s trust Aziraphale. He’s intelligent, maybe he came up with a sneaky wily plan to turn Second Coming into something harmless for humanity. He must’ve learned quiet a lot of tricks from Crowley over those centuries. So LETS WAIT AND SEE.
Face the facts, Not only was Crowley right he was proven right almost immediately. Even if aziraphale comes up with a bumbling idea to try to prevent the end of humanity which is exactly what the second coming is about, he won't have his partner there to save them like he always did with his past plans. Aziraphale really messed up this time.
I see as he is naive and gullible. As the Metatron said it was Crowley asking too many damed questions. Azi was doing as he was told not thinking. Even after the Armageddon that didn't happen the moment they praise him, he sees heaven as the good guys....He may think in his nativity that he will make a difference. but look how the Metatron looks at Crowley twice with hatred. It is plan to separate them because 1. they thwarted the first Armageddon, 2 they discovered when they do miracles together they have a much better effect.
I actually agree. I think Arizaphele is planning to sabotage the second coming from within. No better way to impede its success than being at the helm. After the Metatron referred to the second coming, he twigged to the truth even more. You could actually see him pause in fear and uncertainty before entering the elevator when he made his decision to sacrifice himself. And the look on his face as he rode that elevator. Like he knew he was heading into certain death but doing it for the ones he loved most, humankind and Crowley.
He’s also not opposed to doing something that appears wrong on the surface (fighting against heaven’s second coming) in order to benefit/protect the greater good. They gave a big hint to that with the whole body parts for learning part of season 2.
Just my two cents.
He may have a plan but he is naive, still naive. It was Crowley who always asked questions as the Metatron said. And the question here should be why a double traitor who consorted with the enemy for a very long time (the Metatron is aware of their Arrangement) should be put in charge of the second Armageddon. They may want to use his knowledge of Earth and humans, but he will not be in charge as he naively believes, to make a difference.

Crowley confessing was especially devastating for me because it was like reliving the night I confessed my feelings to my close friend (which he didn’t reciprocate). The breaking voice, eyes focusing on anything except him, and the obvious effort to contain his feelings were all too familiar. I was in tears the whole weekend after that finale.

The fact that their miracle was so powerful the angels thought it had to have been the Archangel Gabriel is the reason Metatron offered that job to Azi. Please he knew Crowley would never agree to that, he also knew that he could still manipulate Azi. He forced them apart because together they were too powerful and could be a danger to heaven and all their plans.
Honestly I’m so glad I didn’t stumble upon any spoilers for this season because the impact of this scene was something else. I usually don’t care for romance in fiction at all but these two changed that, their relationship is just so incredibly well written and acted. My heart … 💔

The performances here are astounding. The sad anger slipping out of Aziraphale in his commands to Crowley. Crowley's nervousness so palpable. The growl as he's about to cry. It's such a wonderful break down of their characters and motivations. I'm so excited for where s3 will take us.

I think Aziraphale doesn’t believe the kiss is real. That’s why he says I forgive you. He doesn’t believe Crowley really meant it. He thinks Crowley kisses him to manipulate him into saying no to Heaven.
You can see his face have a slight moment of anger before he says I forgive you.
They still have not said to each other what they really feel.
I think they both need to say I love you. Not just say we rely on each other or we can be us or I need you.
It’s a story of being brave enough to say it what they really feel.
In the scene prior to this (the metatron's offer) on a second rewatch I noticed that Aziraphale initially rejected it completely, saying he doesn't want to go back to heaven. It was only at the mention of Crowley, and the possibility of them both being angels working together that he starts to reconsider 😭😭😭

It's really sad when you think about it because even though Crowley fell harder, that kiss was a last resort to get Aziraphale to reconsider. A gesture like that meant the world because of how long Az has been in love with him so Crowley knew very well he wouldn't have been able to resist. But when he does with great strength, you can see the feeling of total defeat in that sigh Crowley gives - like he's truly lost him
Of course this entire scene is heart-rending. But what really guts me every time is Crowley’s face between “nothing lasts forever” and him putting his glasses back on. 😰

Man, can we just agree that Neil is an awesome screenwriter? I didn't notice these things when I first watched the scene (I was distraught, obviously) but there are SO many little details that just bring pain and heartache and life into this scene. Like the fact that Crowley's voice breaks so much so you can feel how truly nervous, scared even, he is. Or the fact that he rushes in for the kiss the moment Zira turns away as to not look at him, because he knows he's losing him and wants to convince him to stay no matter what. Or the brief moment Zira's hand embraces Crowley, then pulls away. Or Angel's scared, pained gasping for air afterwards. Him shakind and trembling, trying to compose himself, blurting out this stupid "I forgive you", then shaking and trembling still as Crowley leaves. I've never before seen such an emotional scene between two characters.
When I started watching the show, I had the big kiss moment spoiled to me, so I knew it was coming. But, honestly, after all the lovey-dovey scenes with the other characters, and the way these two interracted with each other the entire season, I was hoping for a sweet, heartwarming scene. Them seeing Gabriel and Beelzeebub and realizing that they, too, can be together, finally. Not this. But honestly, even though it's sad, this is the most in-character outcome for these two. I just hope that they are able to reconcile early into s3, because I can't bear the thought of them being separated for an extended period, my heart can't take it 😭
Also... is it just me, or does Zira feel extra stern and kind of authoritarian here? It doesn't feel right to me, like he's different. Maybe there's something to that coffee.

Man, this sense of void after that desperate kiss will haunt me forever. Crowley waited a long time. Before that scene, he was thinking that everything would be fine, that he would talk calmly with Aziraphale. But in two hella seconds he was facing his biggest nightmare. To lose his angel. He acted like there wouldn’t be any “tomorrow”. Deep inside, it feels more like he knew it. That “tomorrow” wouldn’t be happening in a lot of time.
This is literally the best, most intense, most captivating kiss i have ever seen

@@falconeshield I have to agree. I know that my disproportionate response to this series is personal traumas resurfacing. At the end of episode 6, I was sobbing like I haven't sobbed in years. Since then, all sorts of personal experiences that resonate with what happens between Azi and Crowley keep popping into my head. The wall that I have so carefully constructed to keep myself sane had a big hole knocked in it.
Anyone who is losing their mind because of what they saw on a TV show needs to take a careful look at their own life. Disproportionate responses are often signs of trauma resurfacing. Don't hold Gaiman responsible for your life.

It's horrible to see Aziraphale unable to take any pleasure from something he has probably wanted to experience for a long time. And not only can he not take any pleasure from it but he feels overwhelmed, guilty, confused, and sonehow betrayed by it
There’s no “if” there’s a season three, it’s “when” because I’m pretty sure the fandom will do whatever it takes to get more of this.
The only thing that is gonna snap aziraphale out of his "heaven is good" "hell is bad" is if something genuinely bad happens to crowley because of heaven and he's gonna be so conflicted about it by that point it'd be too late. Damage done. I'm hoping it doesn't have to go that far but that's what it feels like.

I decided to novelize this scene for practice with emotion and such if anyone would like to read it :) any advice is wanted
"He said *what*?" Crowley divulged, cautiously stepped closer, his eyebrows furrowed.
"He said I could appoint you." Aziraphale confirmed sharply, trying to hide the excitement in his voice.
"To be an angel." He continued, "To come back... To Heaven, to... And.. Everything. Like the old times." Aziraphale stammered as he tried to catch his breath, a smile beginning to creep up on his face. "It'll be even nicer!" He grinned as he explained. Crowley stood there, mouth slightly agape at the reveal of this rude awakening.
"Right. And you told him where he can stick it, then?" Crowley retorted with a slight cock of the brow. Aziraphale's grin faltered for a moment.
"Not at all!" Aziraphale replied. A beat of silence.
"No. We're better than that, *you're* better than that, *angel*," Crowley raised his voice slightly, Aziraphale's grin finally falling as he continued. "You don't need them, I *certainly* don't need them!" Crowley scoffed, beginning to pace around the room as he spoke. "Look, they asked me back to Hell, I said, "No, I'm not rejoining their team!" Neither should you!" Crowley continued, Keeping his eyes glued on Aziraphale.
"Well, obviously you said no to Hell, you're the bad guys." Aziraphale stated matter-of-factly with a chuckle, Crowley sighed as he said that, feeling a pang in his chest. "But Heaven, it's the side of truth, of... Light. Good."
"When Heaven ends all life on Earth, it will be just as dead as if Hell did it." Crowley spoke bitterly. Aziraphale hesitated to respond.
"Tell me you said no." Crowley practically pleaded, the bitter look still on his face. Aziraphale searched for the words to tell him, some words to make this right. His mouth opened to speak but no words came out. Aziraphale's eyes danced around the room.
"Tell me you said no." Crowley repeated, stepping closer. His tone was different it was more so... desperate than before.
"If I'm in charge... I can make a difference." Aziraphale finally said. Crowley blinked, then grunted in frustration as he turned around. He walked around the room, muttering quietly before he finally faced Aziraphale again.
"I didn't get a chance to say what I was gonna say, I better say it now." Crowley began. "So." He exhaled deeply, hesitating greatly at what he was about to say. He looked down, his arms swung anxiously as he spoke.
"We've known each other a long time." He glanced back up. "We've been on this planet, a long time. I mean, you and me." Crowley's voice fell slightly wobbly as he voiced the feelings he had experienced for... *thousands* of years.
"I could always rely on you. You could always rely on me. We're a team. A group... Of the two of us." He seemed to want to use another word, but instead danced around it in uncertainty.
"And we've spent our existence like we aren't." Crowley's voice broke ever so slightly. Aziraphale listened quietly, his face riddled with pensiveness. He was afraid of what he was going to say. Crowley recollected his thoughts, taking deep breaths as he glanced around the room.
"And I would like to spend..-" He cut himself off with a grumble, stalling to express his own feelings as he broke eye contact with Aziraphale. He let out a sigh, looking at him again.
"I mean if... Gabriel and Beelzebub... Could do it, go off together... Then we can." He explained. "Just the two of us." He continued in a hushed tone.
"We don't need Heaven, we don't need Hell, they're *toxic*. We need to get away from them." Aziraphale shifted his weight as he began to shake his head.
"Just be... an *us*." The word he would prefer to use would be "couple", but Crowley was overall shilly-shallying on this topic. "What do you say?" Crowley asked. Aziraphale shook his head, stepping closer.
"Come with me." He pleaded, "Come to Heaven, I'll run it, you can be second in command." Crowley's furrowed eyebrows began to soften to a more solemn utterance."You *can't* leave this bookshop." Crowley entreated.
"Oh, Crowley. Nothing lasts forever." Aziraphale said softly, the corners of his mouth slowly curling into a fond smile. It was faint, but it was visible. Crowley's gaze stared back at him with a pensive look, his eyes glossy. He slowly nodded.
"Yeah. That's what it is." Crowley glanced away, speaking quietly. He put his glasses back on, his focus shifted to the door.
"Good luck." He said daintly, beginning to walk towards the door. Aziraphale watched as Crowley walked towards the door.
"*"Good luck"*? Crowley!" Aziraphale chided sharply, making Crowley turn around to look at him again. "Come back. Come back to Heaven." He pleaded. "Work with me! We can... Be together. As... *angels*." Crowley shifted his gaze past him. "Doing *good*. I *need* you." Aziraphale's voice quivered as he spoke. He was so desperate, feeling trapped against his own word. Aziraphale would be in Heaven, but he would lose *his* Heaven. Crowley didn't even look at him.
"I don't think you understand what I'm offering you."
"I understand." Crowley finally shifted his gaze to Aziraphale. "I think I understand a whole lot better than you." Aziraphale let out a soft sigh and gave him a gentle smile.
"Well. Then there's nothing more to say." There's a few beats of silence before Crowley spoke again.
"You hear that?" He asked softly, pointing upwards. Aziraphale scoffed. "I don't hear anything." He exasperated.
"That's the point. No nightingales." Aziraphale's expression softened.
"You idiot. We could've been... *us*." Crowley suddenly stepped forward, gripping Aziraphale's coat as he pulled him in, pressing his lips against his. Aziraphale gasped softly, squeezing his eyes shut. He shakily moved his hands up to Crowley's back. Crowley let go, and Aziraphale let out a few shaky breaths, tears in his eyes.
"I forgive you." He finally said. Crowley let out a soft sigh, making his way towards the door.
"Don't bother." It was the last thing said before Crowley exited the bookshop, making his way to the Bentley. Aziraphale's breath trembled, coming out short. He moved up a shaky hand up to his mouth.
