- This took a whole got damn month to finish and i honestly have no idea why i decided to do this, especially a week after reading the book + watching the show.
ALSO HOT TIP! if you want to do an animatic/animation/a long term project with repeating characters, make sure you know how to draw the characters before hand because goddamn do they look ugly until the 40 second mark.

You know… i kept wondering why everyone here was commenting on the end of season two when it only ended with Gabriel and Bezzlebub going off together. Then I realized I only watched half of the episode…. Just finished watching the rest.
The whole time I was watching this show I was like “This is so gay. This has to be gay.” Googled it and everything. Google was like “it’s not explicitly stated bla bla bla.” I assumed it was just queer bating. This was the way i had to find out? I just wrote a 700 word essay about this animatic so like. i thought i'd put it here too
- The song really does feel like it was made for the show. Like, one of the lyrics at the end is "dining at the Ritz". Guess what happens at the end of the show? THE HUSBANDS DINE AT THE DAMN RITZ. Also the entire song has the exact energy and vibes of the show and I love it. Bonus points for using a song by the same band whose songs are constantly featured in the show itself.
Also, some of the lines are perfectly synced up - like, there's two lines containing the word "love", and the animatic is depicting the iconic "love" scene in the car. and one of the times the word love is actually lipsynced?? like?? FANTASTIC. Also, near the end there's a bell sound in the song, and it's synced with the husbands clinking two glasses of champagne, which is a REALLY nice touch and I adore it. And there's a line about a telephone, and it's synced with Aziraphale calling God, and while that's not on a telephone, it's still really cool.
- Even though this is a six-hour show and the animatic is only three minutes long, it encapsulates everything perfectly. You might not understand who exactly the characters are if you haven't seen the show/read the book, but if you have, you always know exactly what's happening and which scene is meant. The pacing never feels off or too fast, and all in all it's fantastic.
- The transitions are AMAZING. 18/10. Like, near the end, when Aziraphale and Crowley are about to receive their punishments from Heaven and Hell respectively, Archangel Michael pours the Holy Water into the bathtub in Hell and the camera zooms in on the water and follows it down and it turns into the spire of hellfire and zooms out on "Aziraphale" and Gabriel in Heaven.
- The characters are perfectly in-character. The only writing on-screen to show what they're saying is "hi." at one point, and "to the world" at another because that line is iconic and holds so much power and it definitely belongs there. Still, the energy of the characters and scenes is immaculate. The facial expressions are always spot-on, and the style is simplistic but detailed enough to show all the emotions perfectly and I LOVE it.
- Occasionally the art switches to a slightly cartoon-ish style and it's always really funny or fitting for the scene. Like I can't really explain it but it definitely adds character.
- There's a little scene of what happens after the last scene of the show as the song finishes up, and there's a detail of a book appearing in Aziraphale's bookshop titled "Biggles Goes To Mars". Of course, that's not a big deal by itself, but I read the book after watching the animatic, and at the very end of the book, it's mentioned in a minor sentence that books such as "Biggles Goes To Mars" that definitely weren't there before have now appeared in the bookshop. When I read that in the book, I did a double-take, because I knew I recognised the title from somewhere, and then a few days later I was re-watching the animatic and realised where I'd seen that title before! I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff - animatics for TV shows/musicals/other media based off books using tiny details from the books in a way that isn't necessarily noticable - so it makes me love the animatic even more.
Also, while it's not explicitly shown on-screen, the husbands kiss at the end, which. like. I love them so much 20/10 perfection
- The "after-credits" scene in the last few seconds is peak comedy and I love it. The husbands are kissing in the cartoon-ish style mentioned above, and someone walks in on them, and I only just noticed this but there's a split-second caption that says "hey aren't you that guy from doctor who", which is absolutely hilarious. (David Tennant, who plays Crowley in Good Omens, is also an actor in Doctor Who.)
Anyway this turned out as more of an essay than a quick explanation but honestly the animatic deserves it so. yee. everyone go watch it right now

OKAY, so I took a moment to analyze this scene for a moment because I've watched this wonderful animatic countless times, but never understood why Crowley seemed embarrassed. I paused a few frames and realized that Aziraphale had been shuffling through music CDs to find one to play, when he found the "Top 40 Love Songs" one. He smugly shows Crowley, who is instantly flustered. It's a short scene but it's fucking adorable. And, c'mon, we all know why he had those CD's. ;)
