I did my 96 Tacoma 4x4 totally by myself. Took my time, built a cradle to set on my floor Jack. I did 3-4 hours a day and it took 4-5 days. Got it back together with Orem parts , everything exactly the way it was. Pretty easy I thought
The absolute best thing in the world that came from this video was how you shortened the ratchet side of the strap on your HF tranny Jack. Literally did that last night pulling my box and it was a life changer.
Pretty clean and correct job. I have done 40-45 some odd clutch jobs in my 45 years of amateur wrenching. You did everything as I did on mine and all the rest
I gotta say, this was a fucking bad-ass video dude. I was like "OH SHIT!" when I saw the ratchet+zip tie solution to keep the crank in place. I'm half way thru this job on a 'project' taco that's had the tranny out for months (haven't had time to finish it & making excuses that I'll need help getting the trans in). This vid has fucking inspired me to get it done. Great job, man, much respect.
Thanks @changosurfo! the trans takes a little bit of patience but is totally doable , a good transmission jack will make it easier , the one I used is kind of cheap and dosent have an angle adjustment , that would have made it a lot easier, thanks for watching my brother!!!

Any advice on where to find the bolt pattern for the bell housing? Family member inadvertently moved the bolts from where they were sitting in the order they went.
Yes sir, I found your video and I must say nice job, you said if a person had a question about a clutch kit install to ask you so here goes. I'm working on my 2017 toyota tacoma 3.5 6 speed manual. I was putting it all back together and before I put the driveshafts and exaust back on I tried to start it and what a horrible grinding noise can you give me some advise on reinstalling the Trans please it looks like I'm gonna have to tear it back down and start over. This is my 3rd clutch job on different vehicles and by far the most pain in the arse..

Lol , yeah I understand. I like welding a lot more than mechanic work, there's a guy @Meltin Metal Anthony and he said it best "Mechanic work is Hell" always makes me laugh when I'm cussin at an engine
Good Stuff! Not too much bla, bla. Right to the point. one question that I have is, why did you remove the wheel? I was hoping to just be able to drive the truck on to ramps.
I had removed the wheel because you are supposed to take off the sway bar but I was able to just loosen it without completely removing it , you have to work around it but it is doable, its best with the truck on level ground and as close to level as possible for when you have to slide the transmission back to meet the motor , hope this helps ! thanks for watching
Wish you could be my mechanic man !! Great job I think my throw out bearing is going bad I believe it just started making a winding sound in low gears and in Neutral today it kinda has a similar sound to a power stearing going bad
Good video. Wish clutches that easy for me. I used man handling semi clutches. I always change rear main seal even if put on week ago. So I know they got good seal and can't come back on me for anything. And I use high qualities parts.
Yeah I recommended the rear main seal to be changed but the customer bought his own parts , but it was in good condition thanks for the positive feedback
@@happybleeding if a customer buys their own parts I normal try find a way to make up for that in labor. Plus I give them 0 warranty and that I tell them up front. Only warranty they get is where they got the parts at. And if I have to do it again because of a faulty part I charge them.
Yeah thats great advice ! I typically advise them on where to get parts , this customer got OEM parts so I'm not to worried but I do lose money when I dont get the markup.

You wouldn't be disappointed yes they more on expensive side but worth the quality your getting and service you get and they family owned company. Out here to help. And advise.

what setting do you leave the ratchet before you ziptie it?? also how do you replace the rear mean seal? @@happybleeding

Using a 3 foot wobble to take off. The transmission bolts makes it so much easier, especially if you use power.

Been a while since I installed a clutch. Do you have a brand you prefer. I always use borg if I could find them. Don't know if borg warner still exist
Gonna tackle this on my 97 4x4 taco very soon. Do u reccomend the 450 lb jack from harbor freight or should i buy the 800lb jack?

I had removed the wheel because you are supposed to take off the sway bar but I was able to just loosen it without completely removing it , you have to work around it but it is doable, its best with the truck on level ground and as close to level as possible for when you have to slide the transmission back to meet the motor , hope this helps !
