Red Bull Foxhunt returned to Rostrevor in Northern Ireland for the 5th year, but this year was different. History was made as the fox, Gee Atherton, finished in second and gained a place on the podium for the first time. The victorious Colin Ross took first place for the third time, another Foxhunt first! Check out Gee's POV in the video above.

When you ride about 25 km/h its not that fast but much more isnt possible due to physiks and the low grip of the bike. I think in the editing they time lapsed it a little bit and the wide vewing angle makes the driver appear faster. But either way great run
Brandon Dent You seem to be the sad one... And yes it does look fast just because of the blur. In a car people travel at 60+ mph on the freeway and don't even think about it being as fast but you look at this which is like 25mph and think it's fast? Yeah it looks faster then it is. Your understanding of the world is flawed beyond belief.
Sylas the Great the speed is displayed in km/h so it's much slower than 25 mph
Most of the people he passes are not that slow, he's just that mindbogingly fast.

The breathing was remarkably consistent the whole time. I wonder if he could have made it to the front if he hadn't been held up by that one dude, or had to straight up run over the guy near the top.

2) The speed crept up from 6 though to 9, while he was stationary. That's not a moving average.

Near the end someone had a really bright flash and that must’ve disorientated Gee, he was also going like 30Km/h so pretty dangerous

The camera doesn't see what the rider sees. He probably didn't even notice.

Whoever did the graphics for the video need to scale down the gauge and move it closer to the corner.
Maybe whoever did the graphics put the gage exactly where it was meant to be.
jehstr It probably was meant to be there but it doesn't change the fact it covers a large portion of the screen. Just because something is meant to be somewhere doesn't mean it should be.

Trevor Patrick Perhaps some people watch this on a small screen and the numbers wouldn't be so clear if the gauge was smaller. I watch on pc and didn't find the gauge to be in the way. Someone had their reasons i'm sure.

Either the video was accelerated or the displayed speed is wrong. Those 8km/h looked like 20 in some parts!!
GPS signal can put off the wrong speed due to trees etc. It happens when I go under bridges as a road cyclist. The other possibility is the editor messed up aligning the speed with the video.

It appears like if he joined the group in 20th position or something like that at 0:19, so he clearly did not overtake 399 riders...
He starts on the side of the group in the back, he just speeds up alot faster making him already pass hundreds before he connects with the group. You cant speed up faster then the guy in front of you if you are 400 in one group thats why the start was easy for him. All the red ones start before him and at the second Gee starts he is in last place but accelerated faster then majority of the group and takes top 20ish almost immediately

Peter Tollan well there were 400 riders (not including him) and only one of them finished before him so that means he passed 399 of them

Harry Robinson the go pro does not have this ability. they used another device. although Sony action cams with GPS do have this ability. I believe the new Garmin verb does as well.

A huge part of racing is moving away if you can't keep up. At least in the motorsport world.

What?! LOL! In any Motorsport you have to pass other people in a clean way. No one is just going to give up their position because you think you are faster, there wouldnt be any RACING if that was the case... The only reason someone must move over is when they are a lap behind.

Real time, they genuinely do hit those speeds you can also tell its not sped up by the shouting from the spectators and his breathing.
