Heck yeah, I mean not just ANYBODY can help Scooby & the gang solve the mystery of the taffy monsters in her very own taffy factory, all the while wearing a pink moo-moo 😂 man she was so frikkin far-out!
This is the most underrated video on youtube so far. Goddamit, 60 thousand views on a compilation showing one of the most aprecciated music personas of all time.
Janis!!! I bet she and Cass are singing rock and soul songs wherever they are now! Bet they are still creating more happiness for everyone around them !! Love them both. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
No one here has mentioned, so I will. This is the 3-day Monterey Pop Festival held at the fairgrounds..June '67. Can you guys spot the famous performers hanging out during the day? Things were often different in the '60s. If you were there, they could be sitting next to you in the audience although there was a secured area for them near the stage. This is where an unknown from the Texas coast wowed Mama Cass and everyone else...she crushed it...Janis Joplin .. that is her near vid's end. Try to find everyone else.
YES! I KNEW that was The Rose at the end. Was that Mick Jagger she was talking to? I saw Hendrix near the first, and Cass a couple of times. I THINK I saw Art Garfunkel at 1:04, The Dead on stage at 1:26, and I'm pretty sure that is Ravi Shankar at 2:08. Man, what a GLORIOUS time to be young.
Jimi Hendrix, Steve Miller, Art Garfunkel, Roger McGuinn, Barry McGuire, Booker T. Jones, Janis Joplin, Scott McKenzie, Ravi Shankar (hard to miss him with his giant Sitar), Grace Slick, in no particular order. Unbelievable home movie footage; the edit shows some of the people in the video from the song as they sing those lines.
My God...to have been able to attend Monterey Pop. The 3-Day even was a who's who of the greatest Rock n' Roll artists of all time. Jimi, Janis, Otis Redding, The Who, Simon & Garfunkle, Mamas & Pappas, Jefferson Airplane. Ironically, the event got off to a rather slow/dull start. The crowd weren't really into the 1st day's acts and it wasn't planned very well. Then all of a sudden, Otis Redding performed...and the rest was history.
Thanks so much for posting this! My favorite version of this song with the extra horns section added. The way the horns start coming in stronger as the song goes mirrors the story being told of how their careers are coming together and they're getting commercially successful. It all culminates with "California Dreamin' is becoming a reality" with one final blast from the horns. Denny's extra "Becoming a reality" at the vey end is also very nice. None of this appears in the stereo versions that usually get more airplay.
what a fabulous video and the mama's and papa's had a timeless sound with wonderful harmony vovals which only they could do and make it happen. Truly inspiring.
This has always been my favorite M's & P's song and this footage is unbelievable!! Will always miss those awesome days, although too young to really participate at the time unfortunately, just missed being old enough by a few years, darn! Thank you for making my day!
That was just FANTASTIC! Love all that footage! I don't know how you did it. I'm sure you had to do your research. I'm glad you did. Thanks very much! Gonna share this on facebook.
What a wonderful video. I loved every second of it. A few images I have seen before, but at least 90% of it is new to me and I thought I had seen it all. Thank you to whoever put it together.
Monterey Pop Festival June 16,17,18 - 1967 - Monterey, California, planned/Organized by John Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas, and record producer Lou Adler
I just can't believe the amazing talent at Monterey. Damn. I've been to hundreds of festivals, nothing is even close. Cops smiling and having fun? Really? Crowd not trying to be insane? When we created the mosh pit my generation failed us all. sorry bout that.
0:47 Imagine visiting a concert and the casual guy sitting next to you later turns out to be one of the most influential guitarists in music history.
3:29 oh and just to see Janis Joplin just chattin with Jack Cassidy, laughing. That warms my heart
To see all those Rock 'n' roll legends on home movies is incredible..
These are not home movies, it's the actual professional footage from the festival movie 🙌
Monterey Festival
Mama Cass rocks.
Heck yeah, I mean not just ANYBODY can help Scooby & the gang solve the mystery of the taffy monsters in her very own taffy factory, all the while wearing a pink moo-moo 😂 man she was so frikkin far-out!
HOLY COW was this footage amazing! !!
All the footage is from the Monterey Pop Festival 1967.
A lot of big names in this video. I think I even saw Janis Joplin.
That shot of Hendrix was fabulous. What presence he had.
Iconic look.
Biblical. What a cool guy
Brian Jones looked too cool for Christmas, Hendrix always looked dirty.
R.I.P. Cass job done ✔️…
They don't make music like this anymore ☹️☹️☹️
Thank the lord😊
@@shaundybleWhy are you here listening then? Go listen to Taylor Swift!
At all.

I love Mama Cass, Words of Love.
Great song of the journey taken by the Mamas and Papas. Loved the images of other artists like Jimi and Janis.
Report er to Cass: Is ya high on coke? Cass; Hell no! I drink Pepsi
Great footage
This song is timeless along with this footage..
Fantastic 🌟❤️

Just a shame joplin couldn't sing for shit. She just screamed, squawked and shouted.
This makes me wish I was in America in the 60s. Absolutely brilliant footage.

@@zapkvr Are you REALLY this STUPID or are you just PRETENDING to be?
1:49 that was her watching Janis Joplin preform Ball and Chain. She obviously was amazed
I'm a strong advocate for Cass being recognized for how beautiful she was.
That being said... 0:37 makes me think about "high quality H2O." 😂

Genius. The lyrics, the cadence, the voices pure heaven. I've got to get myself one of those Russian hats.
Great behind the scenes footage from the Monterey Concert. Thanks for posting.

Hippy performers and their camps plus hangers-on.
More fun then than the last 42 years since.
The Added Piano and backing ending was left off the Stereo Version.
Yup I think so to Frankie
Where was this filmed? Amazing.

Where did you get the mix from?
It is crazy to think that most of the people in this video are in their late 70s early 80s.
A lot of Momma Cass these days in the USA. 😅
Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but who is that at 2:07?
Ravi Shankar
The scream was also left off.
