Love that head tracking solution, I thought of using the motion gyro in the PS4 controller for head movement, just tilting the controller in my hands as I use it normally, then I realised its very precise. I then tried using the motion gyro for pitch and roll. It's unbelievably good, much better than my old joystick (T.Flight Hotas X). Have been using it for 6 month now, only problem is that yaw still needs a thumb stick (there is a yaw gyro, but it's awful to use, never returns to centre). The other stick is used for head movement, it works pretty well. You should have a little try with the gyro, as a set up that only requires the PS4 controller, and much better than just using the controller's sticks. (If you do try this, set the axis multiplier to about x1.7 as at x1.0, you need to tilt a full 90 degrees for a max input, which will cause a few problems such as tilting beyond 90 degrees will invert the direction.) (Also, you can set the non-linearity near or at 1.0 and it will still be very accurate) Edit: Forgot to say, the spitfires fly extremely well with this. I've mainly been playing the spitfires, I feel like they are actually one of the best flying planes in the game.
Amazing engineering and amusing explanations+look of the setup. I'm in warthunder since a month and the lovely cockpit detail and flight feel in Sim got me ambitious. After playing with the Hotas on a table in front of the TV i know want to create a setup with headtracking and some FPV drone goggles (already have them so why not). VR on PC would be less sketchy but yeah a good setup costs over a thousand currently so this helped me a lot with my PS4 :)
U can easily just get a usb adapter with multiple outlets and use 1 of the front usb and turn it into multiple. I have one on a cord that has 4 usb ports so it gives my hotas an extension and then i can plug multiple things in cause i have a hard drive plugged in at all times too plus controller charger and hotas and my keyboard isn’t Bluetooth lol
@@sam8742 I live in the US and at the time of purchasing, which was a few years ago now, the total was about $120. @trainingdays with the fact they haven't made a decent HOTAS for ps5. And since 2019, you're video and reddit posts are really the only good resource for Info on the subject. Especially from a WT player. (The goat for that) With AoT dropping, I'm rushing around to find a setup build tutorial or something. All this makes me just want a PC 🤦

Hey I was wondering how I should set up the actual inputs for the controls. I play on PC and the default controls are super weird (the pedals control the acceleration even though I have the thrust controller) so I need some help setting them up. Any suggestions tips, tricks?
I hated my thrustmaster, the natural pitch dead zone was awful. Id recommend a logitech 3d pro which is cheaper. It is just a joystick but I find a keyboard is more useful than a thruster. That air mouse head tracking is next level life hack shit.
Hey I don’t know if you’ll see this but if you do any help is appreciated. I got the flight stick but no peddles. I plugged it into by ps5 and it works kinda. I play the ps4 version of war thunder on my ps5. Now the stick works fine but I feel like I’m missing something. When I use my controller every thing in my play works fine. But when I use my stick my plane becomes like under powered. For example I hopped into a test flight with an A-10. I went to take off with the stick and it took the whole run way just to get up to 206m/s which is not fast enough to take off. Then I switched to my controller and it got up to 300m/s + in less than half of the runway. I don’t think my flight stick is broken because the game is telling me that I’m giving it full power but the plane won’t go full speed if that makes sense. Another issue I am running into is that at high speeds I lose rudder control. For example I have been currently flying the p-40F-10 and at any speed past 550-600m/s I lose any control of the plane. Like I’ll pull up and it barely moves. I mean like I didn’t even think it was trying to pull up. And that was in air arcade where there’s a little less realism. So I’m wondering if there’s some setting I’m missing because I really want to use this stick but it’s just not letting me perform the way it should. Please anyone help if you got any tips. I would greatly appreciate it thank you.
Great video. I would like to do this setup. I have PS5 and Hotas joystick, the first problem i have is i cannot aim at all. When i was playing with only the PS5 controller before i bought Hotas, i could press L2 and the whole plane follows the tracking camera and makes it fairly easy to aim. When i switched to use the Hotas joystick the target tracking works just for viewing and the plane goes straight. When trying to aim i feel absolutely stupid because i cant make the crosshair follow the target successfully. Maybe i need to set one setting but im lost is what settings to use. Please help me! i’m frustrated.
Tracking camera/enemy I think it's called. I'm on ps4. It's not gonna work the same when you use the hotas, even if you try and fly on realistic. The only way I've found to have your plane follow in tracking is to use the controller or a keyboard and mouse. I've been using keyboard and mouse for a long time now. Aiming with hotas is really hard but with enough practice you can get better at it (I'm still a looooong way away from being good with hotas lol) but if you were to play on PC the tracking would do the same as the hotas (no aim assist on PC) happy hunting!
I seem to be able to connect only two devices at any time, given i have a different type of usb port. My ps4 will recognise only the 2 of three devideces between the keyboard, the mouse and the headset (plus the controller and the hotas sistem). Is it only a problem of mine? Is it the usb port? I would like to keep the mouse in the setup for bomber tail gunnery.
There might be an issue with a USB port. I have never had that issue and, asking around to other people who fly sim on PlayStation, they have not had that issue either
@@trainingdays i have a Rii mini i7 for the head mouse, but the ps4 recognizes It as a keyboard, maybe that has something to do with It? I have tried to connect the head mouse to the ps4 directly and the mouse and keyboard to the additional ports but It doesnt change anything (maybe its because my USB Port Is not connected to any additional Energy source and hasnt got enough Power for the hotas sistem, the heyboard and the mouse)
$3 air mouse, yyyyyyyeah, no such thing. Although $13 isn't going to break the bank or anything, it's just not even close to $3, even 2 year after this was made
Do you should just buy a gaming chair makes it way easier I have something similar to your set up but I just got a gaming chair and your put your controllers on your right and left side piece of cake hook it up underneath way simpler than what you got bro when you get a left hand keyboard for gaming so I’m on Amazon for $16 and you can mount it on the stand next to your throttle control makes it way easier dude
