I've had this flight stick for almost an year, and I've been really happy with it, and it doesn't get too hard to get used to use the track ball to look around and set it to not center automatically. I only had one flight stick before, so I don't have many others to compare to, but I do recommend it if you would like to play simulators like DCS and of course sim mode on WT, I think this is a great start flight stick you won't regret buying it ; )
Mmm, k, depends on how much arcadishness one is able to suffer and still get entertained. Btw I'm an RB pilot too so I'm not biased towards SB. Just the tank part is...
Hey theOrangeDoom i got a challenge for you,fly out your best planes using the Hotas 4 in RB. How many ground targets and air kills can you get, before you get killed or survive in Rb. Air battles( air kills 3 ace) or ground targets(ground 13 target). rules plane must be a multi-role fighter, light or heavy bomber and lastly a fighter jet. Good luck , happy hunting.
the tank part is? Sim games are maps 3 times the size of a playable map with half the players. Thanks, but no thanks. RB is IMHO the perfect mix of Sim and AB
why not use your mouse to look around and like you already have a reset on the stick then you can look around accurately and keep a hand on the controls
as everything in life, training is the point, I´ve been using the Hotas 4 for months and all my uploaded videos count on tha hat switch to look around. I can track enemies without problem... Just training.
Freddy, sorry this is a long time since your post, your probably married with children and a have a Labrador by now lol,, i,m going nuts trying to get better at War Thunder using a Hotus 4, been using the play station remote beforehand and getting fried by the good players,, do you have a config file that one can import to set it up mate ?i believe you can save your set up, thanks in advance, George.
i have an older version of this stick, and before i had trackir i put the keyboard between the throttelstick and the joystick (for engine controls) and the mouse in front (closer to me) of this, so i used my left hand to look around by pressing the middle mouse button and moving the mouse, took a while to get used but worked very well for me, and for setting up your controls you should watch sheriffs tutorial, its bit old but still good, especially to understand what nonlinearity is, cause its the most important thing with a joystick
V-joy is not that bad in Simulator. It's unique but it is perfectly balanced with a Joystick in terms of mechanics and capabilities. Same with relative mode.
Orange, why dont you make a second channel if youre enjoying Sim again so people like me not only have your Streams and RUclips videos, we can also watch Sim gameplay from you and enjoy it since RB is o.k. but for me a guy playing DCS,IL-2 BOS,WT Sim and Il-2 Sturmovik (1946 etc...) it just gets boring after some time.
I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on EC. I personally love EC and I think it should be implemented as more of the core of the game alongside normal matches. For one thing bombers are a lot more fun to use.
hi as someone who is into flight sims i looked att your joy stick and i saw that yu hav e a hatswitch ontop of it which you can use for looking around if you set it up correctly and it becomes second nature useing it after a while
My solution of view control is using a trackball mouse on your left hand with a reset key binding on your stick. It is quite cheap compared to the head tracking device. Because it is a mouse, you don't need any driver as long as the mouse is set to view control.
I use a MOMO racing wheel mounted 90 d vertically on a chair for throttle, and a Logitech ATTK 3 ambidextrous joystick- for situational awareness I just switch hands and use the mouse with my right hand, and fly with my left! Took some getting used to, but it works like a charm!
dude, I know you didn't pay for the stick so wasn't your choise, but keep in mind that all your opinions are based on a BAD stick. for the same price or less, you can get a T16000. I start with a hotas x, got the warthog, then a T16000, and in the end I got a second T16000 and gave the hotas X for free. to go from hotas x to a warthog/t16000 (they have the exact same sensor) is like going from a 26P camera to a 16MP camera. The plane feels like is reading your mind. My advise is to try and get a t16000.
Mititelu Radu is the T16000 really that good? If so, I'm going to be a happy man! I just ordered the JS/Throttle control online yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying Sim for real-even if I play the AI missions for a while at first :) haha
Its a masterpiece in sim once you learn it. You cant pull as hard as a 109 ofc. One big advantage is using takeoff flaps on the 190. Deploying them makes it very hard to spin the aircraft which is good for beginners. Howevwe the flaps also cut airflow to the elevators which make it turn worse. Use the flaps fpr a while if you dont feel comfortable. Otherwise the principle is the same. BnZ and fokkeh wulf with dat rollrate
Nice, Orange! Btw, I think that using track-IR or the "mushroom" on the top of joystick is a matter of getting used to it. I've been using this "mushroom" of my Logitech 3D pro for couple of years already and feel no inconveniences with that. Track-IR is not obligatory imo.
You can use mouse for looking around. I'm right handed and fly with right hand and look around with mouse on left hand. It takes few games to get used to it
I have this same stick. I had set it up so that I have the stick in my right hand, and my mouse in my left. I use the mouse to look around and track enemy planes
I always wanted to play plane sims and such. Always when i did with mouse and keyboard it was hard and a downer. I ordered this flight stick now. Hope its way better.
well flying with mouse is dependant on which plane, twin or multi engined plane are easier with mouse and joystick than it is with a single engine plane, since a single engine is hard to control the torque of the engine trying to crash you in the ground, i tought my friend to fly with mouse and he got his first kill during a maneuver with mouse and keyboard without head track
For people that never used a joystick i really recomend the thrustmaster t16000m fcs its 130 dollars the hotas setup but its one of the best joysticks you can get it has the same sensor as the warthog and the throtle has a console like joystick whit push action that i use to move the camera and press to re center it it has a wheel on the left i use in wt as zoom and in dcs as radar elevation you can use the stick hat for the trim like irl most planes have the trim in the stick
i love the idea of sim. i have track IR and a simple thrustmaster joystick but my problem lies that I can not fly alone. i play on a laptop flying on medium graphics, making me spotting and ID'ing aircraft a nightmare. If i fly with someone, I fly wingman and they become my eyes when im flying until i can get close enough to ID them myself
Smigol Time! I am currently running a speedlink black widow. Excellent stick for £30 with a separate throttle control and a really nice bon twist rudder. (i hate twist rudders). It has served me extremely well so far and with facetracknoIR headtracking i transformed my sim experience.
I would also reccomend facetracknoIR headtracking if you already have a webcam. Only costs £2 or something (used to be free) and it transforms your situational awareness.
i cant get the pipper or cross air on the target it always wiggles up down or left right combining that the target wont fly straight so its difficult for me with mouse in SB but joystick is a dream still dont have one tho so cant really experience it but watching how u flew the plane with joystick is just so smooth and comforting to watch.
Hey Orange, could you post either your control setup for the HOTAS 4, or at the very least, your sensitivity for each control axis? I have the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X, and judging by your little review, these two flight sticks perform relatively alike, I just haven't been able to pin-point a good sensitivity setting for the axes.
Tsundere_Gaming I can tell you mine. I keep roll sensitivity at 100% since rolling cant spin you and you need all you can get. Elevator i have at 27%, enough to still be able to easily spin but fine wnough to push a plane to the edge. Rudder i left at 50%
Sounds reasonable, I have been wanting to get into the Sim Mode community for a while, but like I said, my sensitivity was always too high or low and I would continuously find it hard to stay on course without flailing like a little child. I'll try your settings out, thanks!
Joystick sensitivity is very touchy. Every plane can benefit greatly with adjustments. For wobbly planes i have: roll 80, pitch 20 + multi 0.9, yaw 0 + multi 0.9. Non lin around 1.7 For each.
The way I figure, its more important to have precision over performance. Lower sensitivity over high. Besides, when flying 350kms and up, you never get to use full movement of control surfaces or you go into a spin.
Thanks! Hybridizing Octane's axis sensitivity and your multiplier and nonlinearity settings have made my flying much more stable, *and* even though it was in custom battles with nothing but AI, I got a couple of kills in differing aircraft.
I binded the x axis to the rocker switch on the throttle. I also binded the move head(Right, Left) to it, I put in a large dead zone. When I near the limit of the axis, I will start leaning. You can then have a better view behind, because your head is against the canopy. The headrest isn't in the way, as much.
I just signed up to be a Thrustmaster Test Pilot. Wish me luck I already have a flight stick. But it is for right handed people. Hopefully Thustmaster has one for lefties.
I'm right handed but half the time when I'm looking around I'm holding the joystick with my left hand. The T.16000m is great for that since you can remove the thumb rest and make the stick ambidexterous.
yes but I find it very awkward so I don't bother. Just buy a custom trackIR setup, I bought one for around $40 USD and it works great! It uses an IR clip with a modified PS eye.
Orange, just use WASD for head movement and the rest of the keyboard for engine controls etc. but use the joystick for the smoother flight and shooting experience, it takes a little getting used to but trust me it's a great way to get into sim only spending $10 for a Logitech pro 3D or something, think Bismarck had a video on the set up :)
Hey orange do you think you can show us your Flight Stick control scheme I bought mine almost a year ago the same exact one and I am still having some problems setting up so my play wont be so sensitive to every movement.
hey someone, i have this joystick because i bought it for ps4 now im in pc and i cant set up the gas stick and its rudder, can someone please tell me how the hell do i set that up? thanx
I been playing War Thunder for a few years now with a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X. Are there any differences with the T.Flight Hotas 4 ?? I would love to be a Tester and compare the two models!!
I wonder is there actually any diffrence between Blue and Red version of Hotas X? I myself have red and seems like springs that are in rudder control on thorttle seem to lose their power over time and what I have heard MWO players seem to like Hotas X.
My issue with RB is the lack of respawning. I understand why it’s there, and I’m not saying to remove it. I would just like an additional realistic battle mode with spawns. Don’t really think it would hurt playerbase that much. Sim mode is cool… but its just not for me with warbirds. I play VR and the resolution limitations make sim pretty unbearable imo.
2 years ago you could increase the size of the stickers so much that 1 sticker could cover the whole plane or tank but they changed it because people abused that by making their tanks look like a dead tank so they have an advantage in sim and RB
I like you and hope you are to see the flight and win or loose and have fun and good luck. carrier landing is very difficult. Capt. Doolittle was the first to make a training in B-25 A-1.
@theorangedoom how can you setup controls for a stick if you want to try out sim, but not mess with your controls for RB keyboard/mouse? I tried a long time ago and I ended up having to reset all my keyboard/mouse controls after playing with a stick
Flying with mouse in sim is harder than flying plane in real life
Die Deutsche Kerl it is der deutsche kerl
+Mr.Ruffy i know
flying with a joystick (well at least my Black Widow) is harder than flying in real life...and I know what I'm talking about :)
I have no problem doing CAS with mouse in tank SB, killing planes is a different story though...
I have 59 kills in sim just from using mouse and keyboard. It's all about the setup.
I love enduring conflict. It's more realistic in terms of what combat was actually like.
Play dcs if you want realism, wt isnt really for that
Or il2
This is why I love DCS world. Their VR support is amazing
That is 4 years ago right now it improved
I've had this flight stick for almost an year, and I've been really happy with it, and it doesn't get too hard to get used to use the track ball to look around and set it to not center automatically. I only had one flight stick before, so I don't have many others to compare to, but I do recommend it if you would like to play simulators like DCS and of course sim mode on WT, I think this is a great start flight stick you won't regret buying it ; )
i used a trackball to look around for elite dangerous, way cheaper option than a trackIR
"Not fan of a tank SIM" - why? Is there a better game mode for combined battles?
yeah, RB lol
Mmm, k, depends on how much arcadishness one is able to suffer and still get entertained.
Btw I'm an RB pilot too so I'm not biased towards SB. Just the tank part is...

@@gw2031 I have a HOTAS 4 as well, I cant find the setting in war thunder to reset my veiw

IRL, the Hat Switch (mushroom looking thing you mentioned) is typically used for Trim Nose up/down, right wing down, left wing down.
V-joy is not that bad in Simulator. It's unique but it is perfectly balanced with a Joystick in terms of mechanics and capabilities. Same with relative mode.

commented to early but if you use it it will become second nature that is what it is for me
That's what I do (tophat switch)
This actually gave me an idea, I'll assign one of the HOTAS view axis to allow mouse view and use my left hand to view with my mouse! Brilliant!
5:28 thats the rudder control xD
My solution of view control is using a trackball mouse on your left hand with a reset key binding on your stick. It is quite cheap compared to the head tracking device. Because it is a mouse, you don't need any driver as long as the mouse is set to view control.

where are the setup link to joystick??
im a simple man. i see sim, i hit like
UKoctane How to use Fokkeh Wulf in sim? I can't even take that thing off so I fly 109 instead.
Freek de Groot use rudder. but on stick. the have really bad torque on take off. its a common issue with guys who try fws in sim.
Warthunder is not a sim
Oo an actual warthunder video with the specific stuff im looking for
Until I bought TrackIR, I didn't use the throttle stick, but instead bound the view to WASD and engines to ctrl/shift and trim to space
It takes few games to get used to it
also as for the little analog stick on the top of the stick for the thumb, is that you can use it for the wasd controled atgms
I'm getting myself a Flight Stick X by Thrustmaster, combined with my Oculus Rift, I'm in for a fun time!
Nice video Doom!
Glad you did this
I have this same stick. I had set it up so that I have the stick in my right hand, and my mouse in my left. I use the mouse to look around and track enemy planes
I have the same control and my movements are very gross.
can you share the configuration of axes, sensitivity, trim, etc ?.
Thank you

What setting allows you to reset your veiw? I can't seem to find it!
set a key to a reset axis value on "view on battle" on x-axis & y-axis
i recomend you turn off the trim when you start a dogfight the speed receive too variations when you turning and this can cause the death spins
Orange, i want to know if you skins are made by yourself or you download them.
Oh hey the same joystick as mine
This graphic is wonderful! And the video is nice, too
i love the idea of sim. i have track IR and a simple thrustmaster joystick but my problem lies that I can not fly alone. i play on a laptop flying on medium graphics, making me spotting and ID'ing aircraft a nightmare. Wow can't wait for more content namsayin dawg
finally a good sim video
I personally recommend getting a delan clip, it's a cheap version of a track IR but I think it's better made (out of metal).
Im looking forward to buying me a good joystick, but i don't want to pay much money and get a pile of shit. Anyone has a really good one to recommend?
Yeah, Flighstick 3 for 50$, isen't perfect but good enough and pretty good axis
X56 rhino is great, but it`l still set you back about 250 :\
Play with my Joystick, you won't get disapointed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Smigol Time! I am currently running a speedlink black widow. Excellent stick for £30 with a separate throttle control and a really nice bon twist rudder. (i hate twist rudders). It has served me extremely well so far and with facetracknoIR headtracking i transformed my sim experience.

First problem noted with head tracking, me looking at buying this stick to play war thunder in VR 😅
This stick looks like a rebrand of the almost decade old T Flight Hotas X.
I think the actual stick is the same but with improved functionality and various updates.
5:27 how do you set up that? im on ps4
good old Hotas (had a Afterburner 2 long ago, died of old resistor's age), now with twist. is it on resistors still?
Was considering buying that joystick, wild hold it off until PSVR works with War Thunder.
Orangedoom wanna try a visor together
thanks for telling me about the auto trim!
I use a trackball to look around in sim, so that i do not have to move my head around.
Hey Orange, could you post either your control setup for the HOTAS 4, or at the very least, your sensitivity for each control axis? without flailing like a little child. I'll try your settings out,
thanks!
Joystick sensitivity is very touchy. Every plane can benefit greatly with adjustments. For wobbly planes i have: roll 80, pitch 20 + multi 0.9, yaw 0 + multi 0.9. Non lin around 1.7 For each.

why is it not possible to combine a joystick with a keyboard, which would give you both, smooth control und easier view controls
Hello, do u need the rudderpedal too? I mean controlling your rudder can be important sometimes in warthunder.
Could you please tell what post-effect setup you use? The color and contrast are looking perfect.
I just found out you can bind your look x axis to the twist axis on stick. Tried it but need more time using it.
I binded the x axis to the rocker switch on the throttle. I also binded the move head(Right, Left) to it, I put in a large dead zone. When I near the limit of the axis, I will start leaning. You can then have a better view behind, because your head is against the canopy. The headrest isn't in the way, as much.
Hi can you put here the link for on your joystick settings please man i dont know how to set everything
what thrust master has to do is sell me a good quality rudder set
I just signed up to be a Thrustmaster Test Pilot. Wish me luck I already have a flight stick. But it is for right handed people. Hopefully Thustmaster has one for lefties.
I'm right handed but half the time when I'm looking around I'm holding the joystick with my left hand. The T.16000m is great for that since you can remove the thumb rest and make the stick ambidexterous.
Have you tried the oculus with war thunder?
....hu i never thought of using webcam have head tracking cause looking around with mouse and keyboard and still trying to fight is bloody well hard.
can you use the mouse to look around while you use the stick? that will be a great solution
yes but I find it very awkward so I don't bother. Just buy a custom trackIR setup, I bought one for around $40 USD and it works great! It uses an IR clip with a modified PS eye.
Haha! He turned too damn hard and almost entered a flatspins! It gets us all! Even I get flatspin....
P.s. Shift + WASD being moving head upwards downwards etc.
I wish they did rb enduring confrontations more
Can you please make a quick show of how did you customize your bindings or maybe some link to help me with binding? :)
Can you show us your control setup for the thrustmaster
I may sound dumb but it's possible to disable the annoying camera sway in cockpit view right?
what mouse was that? was it the g502 or g402? im thinking of upgrading. i currently have the g300s. is it worth upgrading to anything else?
G502, it's fantastic
thanks. I'll probably get it then.
I have the G402 its good I love it
is it worth spending an extra £20 for the g502 tho?
i recommend g502, really good mouse, its worth every cent
Pretty sure only the top youtubers actually got the stick
Basically this stick would be perfect for Flight Simulator X, for a budget stick that is.
@Someone yes
flying with mouse is great! the only problem I have is when trying to look around
Yo I won this contest, I can't wait to use it
Hey orange do you think you can show us your Flight Stick control scheme I bought mine almost a year ago the same exact one and I am still having some problems setting up so my play wont be so sensitive to every movement.
I have that joystick and want to use the same axis for view zoom, but can figure it out. Any tips?
is this playing video PC? or PS4?
Wait that is the Mentalist Intro music LoL.
Just gonna put the idea out having tested it; sim and VR.
Jesus christ, worth every penny. :)
hey someone, i have this joystick because i bought it for ps4 now im in pc and i cant set up the gas stick and its rudder, can someone please tell me how the hell do i set that up? thanx
I been playing War Thunder for a few years now with a Thrustmaster
T.Flight Hotas X. Are there any differences with the T.Flight Hotas 4 ??
I would love to be a Tester and compare the two models!!
I have Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X is it any different than Hotas 4 or is it just the same?
Very similar AFAIK. The HOTAS 4 is an updated version of the HOTAS X as far as I can see. If not they are still very similar sticks.
UKoctane I googled it and there isnt basically any diffence. The Hotas 4 can be used on PS4 and hotas X cant
You got a nice shirt mate
I wonder is there actually any diffrence between Blue and Red version of Hotas X? I myself have red and seems like springs that are in rudder control on thorttle seem to lose their power over time and what I have heard MWO players seem to like Hotas X.
You can slave gt footpedals from ps3 to give u foot rudder.U will need usb port splitter.Mine has 5 points.
and now days the only thing air sim is the crappy enduring conflict
What mouse & keyboard Doom ? Looks sick as f#ck
9:17 Damn, that was way too fast!
I cant use the equipment i alredy have... it just flies and crashes.. ive messed with the controls after the fact but im on xbox so 🤷
how do you get a solid orange wing, when I try I get a black line from the second circle?
2 years ago you could increase the size of the stickers so much that 1 sticker could cover the whole plane or tank
but they changed it because people abused that by making their tanks look like a dead tank so they have an advantage in sim and RB
Daniel Taylor you can do a skin for your plane (which only you will see tho)
Hey Orange, if you like flightsticks and simulator battles you should try DCS World. Its free in steam why not?
i have this stick and it works great for the price
The Logitech xtreme 3D pro is like 30 bucks and it's pretty good
I like you and hope you are to see the flight and win or loose and have fun and good luck. carrier landing is very difficult.
I bought a 3D pro a few months ago to try this, came in broken, the plane would go left and down (not being torque)
Have you tried recalibrating the stick?
The Man They Call Asher Indeed :(

is it better than the keyboard in RB ?
