Other instructors have mentioned this on other sites, but they don't do it as clearly as you. You demonstrate it so simply and basically that I finally got it
I found that the more I focus on shoulder turn, the better my ball striking. This concept will just reinforce that mindset and help with consistency. Great stuff Eric!
I see about 12 people behind you practicing, none of them seem to have very good swings . I would like to see you go to each one , show their swing , and give each ONE SWING CORRECTION TIP , and then show their better swing . Maybe others would like to see this too . Love your teaching . Thanks so much, Wayne
Hey Wayne! Thats a great idea! Fortunately you can see that all day long on Cogornogolf.com in the facebook group! I don't even need to be with them :)
Nice instruction! This clarified a lot in regards to why I am struggling with topping the ball to digging a trenches under it. I was not seeing this at all and conveniently blamed taking my eyes off the ball.
Thank you, the sidebend concept, very helpful. I take a fair amount of video of my six iron, my head used to raise one to 3 inches just a fraction before impact. I would control it by forcing my head to stay down which was very difficult. So just trying a little extra right sidebend as I started the downswing from the top actually shifts the weight more firmly to the front left foot, the club drops right into the speed slot, my head actually now drops a half-inch before impact fantastic swing thought/swing key. Thanks
Hi Eric, this is a common fault of mine (head up on backswing) which I now know is the lack of chest extension and side bend. Many thanks for this instruction delivered as always with true professionalism.
Awesome stuff yet again sir! The topics covered in this video and two of your other videos about maintaining the body angle, keeping the chest down, maintaining the wrist angle through impact, are exactly the things I'm working on with my Golftec coach at the moment. I mentioned every single one of your videos to him and he was super impressed as well, think he said something along the lines of "Oh good I was afraid you're watching too much of RUclips golfers who have no idea what they're talking about, this guy (you Eric) clearly knows what he's talking about". Now if I can just translate these principles and theories into action...
Great stuff again Eric, my plan is to record some swings implementing the left shoulder down right shoulder down, then draw a line in my swing app over my head to see whether i'm maintaining height throughout the swing, it's surely the key to better and more consistent ball striking.
Chest pointing to the sky equals extension of spine at top of backswing, Chest pointing to ground equals flexion of spine at address. We need both as we go from address to backswing (extension of spine ) to downswing at impact (flexion of spine). That is my takeaway from this video. Also gives me a checkpoint of what to accomplish in my mind as i go to backswing and then to downswing at impact,
Thank you for the beautiful explanations just one question is it important to use the dominant eye when looking at the ball in addition to all this good advice tks
I like what David Ledbetter said. He gets in golf posture without a club and puts both arms down by his side and reaches down his left leg with his left hand,it feels more like a spring winding up. That video can be seen in me and my golf lesson with David Ledbetter
I'm fine on the backswing lateral bend but when on downswing feel very much like my weight is too much on my back foot during downswing due to my trying to introduce more right side bend.I seem to struggle to get my shoulder moving down and forwards at the same time.I tend to early extend with straight legs at impact so I definitely know I need to get more rotation and right side bend but it is a struggle.I play off 12 thanks for your videos they are excellent and I have followed many!!
Hey Steve! Yes sounds like you need to add more ROTATION when you're doing the side bend...if you're just doing side bend with no ROTATION or FORWARD bend you'll be hanging back too much
Great video Eric !! What are the muscles involved in this movement? I'm rather skinny, can you suggest me some exercise to improve and speed up chest rotation? Thanks!
Hey Alessandro! Lots of muscles involved. I would find a good athletic trainer to help you with that! If you want drills to help create feels that you can supplement with video feedback then search my name and "chest rotation" and you will see a bunch!
Yet another great reason why our 2d understanding of the golf swing is completely outdated. I've probably heard, "keep your head down" at least 100 times.
Hey Eric - at 8:05 you say to get the butt of the club inside the ball line. This should not be same as getting your should plane inside, correct? It’s just for feel? I looked at Matsuyama, Rors and Cameron Champ and none of them have a should plane pointing inside or even a t the ball line. It’s outside. Thanks again
Hey Joey! Yes, good catch. I didn't mean inside ball line from DTL I meant inside the ball line (to the left of the ball) from the face on view as Im saying it
Yep! 1. Record every swing. 2. Exaggerate the opposite movements until you find middle rinse and repeat for 6-12 months ruclips.net/video/dAq_cokO4TI/видео.html
I love this instructional video. Lifting too soon was a huge problem years ago. This video says it all! It almost feels like a reverse C at the top eh? I say this very seriously. You must know this video or you’ll never grow.
My God how complicated just keep looking at the back of the ball. I'm 9 handicap and been single for over 40 years. Far too much to think about I just think about finnishing the shot
Hey Jerry! Thanks for watching! This video is from a few years back, so that's why the link isn't working. If you're interested in online coaching, please check out www.cogornogolf.com 👊 We'd love to work together!

So simple but yet I’ve overlooked this basic idea. Thank you!!

Excellent breakdown of the postures of the swing. What we have to do and to avoid.
Thanks, Bruno!
Very good explanation coach, I can keep my head still because of your video.
Thank you very much.

that's a good way to look at it. i've been early extending for years and never knew it until you guys on youtube. this will help, thnx.

Left side bend. Eureka moment. Thanks Eric. Next level.
:)
Brilliant description, cheers Eric!

Wow, fantastic! I just love this tip... keep up the great work Eric!

Or, you can just stick with Eric. Leadbetter should be in golf purgatory.
@@bobscottjnr I watch a lot of different people, some explain things differently then others.
Excellent explanation!

How do you keep from the reverse pivot spine angle if you recommend chest/spine extension in the backswing?
1. Having enough turn
2. Not over extending
3. Extension is good....too much is not....OF COURSE you can over do anything
Eric Cogorno Golf thanks for the clarification!

Good stuff Eric
Thanks, Michael!
Great stuff!
Thanks, Tim!
Great lesson Eric. Didn't know Joe Montana was a regular at your course.
:)
Watching the swings of All the amateurs in the background makes me feel that I have a chance 😅
I lov the guy in blue's 6 inch drive at the 2:37 mark 😂
Excellent explanation Eric!
Thanks, Garry!
always enjoy the video.
As someone here said, these videos are extremely good
Thanks, Joey!
@@CogornoGolf I dont know who is setting the cam and focus, but it would be much better clip if the focus is in the right place.

My problem is I lose my left side bend during backswing, shoulders turn flat and pelvis sucks in towards ball losing hip depth. Any suggestions Thanks

Introducing the concept of side bend seems to have a different feel than simply lowering the left shoulder on the backswing.
Yep!
I understand what to do and why I'm topping the ball alot, I just don't understand how to train my body to stay in a fixed plane through the swing.

Well that was bloody complicated.
Lol sorry about that Brian!
Said all he needed to say in the last 30 seconds. Instead it’s 10 minutes of repeating and refining. Too many videos over complicating the golf swing.
Thanks for your feedback, Mike! Will try and be better.

Yes he does :)
You are great at over complicating things! 😂😂😂
