I have Global Entry, which includes TSA Precheck. I have metal in my spine and a knee replacement, so I have to go through the virtual strip search because I can’t pass the magnetometer anymore. It’s still worthwhile because I don’t have to pull out my liquids & electronics and I don’t usually have to take my shoes off unless the scanner operator is a newbie and doesn’t know the rules. Yes, they can get away with whatever they feel like, but most don’t. I will definitely renew when the time comes.
Three years ago, I flew from the mid west to Seattle with my friend. When we put our phones up to the kiosk an automatic TSA PreCheck green arrow appeared along with our boarding passes. We did nothing special as in ordering it or anything other than just booking the flight about two weeks before. Still wondering how that happened----not that I am complaining, just curious for future travels domestically.
Not sure if this will help, but my wife submitted Global Entry application on Aug 24, 2023. We received initial approval three days later. She has her interview on August 29, 2023. Granted, her interview appointment is in Sault Saint Marie and appointments were available within two business days. When I had my interview in Denver, it took many weeks to get an appointment.
Global Entry is great and, in my case, not being a US citizen, the only way to get TSA precheck. The biggest problem, though, is the fairly limited places where you can do the interview, so it can take quite a while for an appointment date to become available.
A new precheck application does not cost $85. It cost me $78. It took 3 days to be approved.

How far in advance do you suggest to renew Pre ✔? Mine expires in April 2024.
It is best to get all your licenses handed in a month or more before expiration. In this way your new credentials will arrive on time.

Times vary. The shortest being 3-5 days, and the longest being about 90 days.

What about the global entry? I am taking a trip to india and everything i read says it takes up to 6 mos to obtain. Anyone have knowledge
For abroad - Global Entry may be the way to go, but the process takes longer because of the interview process.
