Hi Bhavya.. I m passed out in 2010 as a B.Tech-IT graduate. I was searched for a job. After 1 year I joined to data entry work. Then i leave that job and join as final year student project work for 2 years and then again i joined as data entry operator. There i have 2 years 8 months experience. After the family situation i took career break nearly 6 years. I m not interested in software coding. If i want to join in telecom industry (non it) means what kind of things i need to do. Will you please guide me to restart my career in a effective way.

After a 6-year gap, I would suggest you to start by analyzing which skills you still have a grip on. Take up contract roles, entry-level positions or freelance work within your network to identify your core strengths.
Then, enroll in courses for in-demand skills to progress beyond entry-level roles. Just start and you'll soon find your way back into the IT field.

@@poonamthorat7174 for learning data science, skills required: Python, Statistics and analytical thinking and most importantly one has to be good in numbers. Machine learning algorithms need a good amount of practice. And then one can further learn Deep Learning. Data Science is in demand but check the syllabus properly and then decide whether it's suitable for you or not. Whereas Data Analytics require skills like Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, MySQL. So, do some research on Google, check go through their syllabus

Age can be a factor, but in your 40s to initiate as a fresher, you still have plenty of time to start and gain experience. And after about 5 years, you could be in a managerial role (Assistant), which is common for people in their late 30s or 40s. Start learning the skills you need now, and you’ll be on your way to grow in your career.

A career gap may impact your first job search, but it typically becomes less relevant over time. As you gain experience, employers focus more on your skills and accomplishments with experience than on gaps in your early career.
It won’t significantly affect job changes later in life.

A 6-month gap can be explained as a investing upskilling through self-learning and job hunting in a tough job market. It’s best to start internships related to software field, paid or unpaid but that offer certificates to bridge the gap.
Sometimes, internships can lead to full-time roles.

Start with internships at small or mid-sized companies or startups, as they often hire interns later as full-time employees. And brush up on your BE Computer Engineering skills and enhance your Resume by completing free online courses in AI or Machine Learning to improve your chances of getting shortlisted.

Pitch to the company that you're actively seeking full-time roles. If any opportunities arise, you'd be excited to discuss them.
