I quit my software job to write as it has been my passion since I was 7. I am 25 now. I spent the last 17 months in the process with no results. My writing is not going well. Some really depressing things happened over the last year and hindered my writing even more. I went through depression, took therapy, experienced anxiety, and felt out of place almost every day. But I am still pursuing my writing. I have set up a deadline for myself and if my writing isn't over by the deadline, I am planning to apply for software jobs again. Trying to keep it together despite constant self-doubts and fear of failure. I never thought I would be this demotivated to post on a RUclips video for reassurance. Any other writer who could relate to me? Any comment is appreciated.

I have been caregiver for my mother since 2015 after my father’s crossing over into spirit. My mother is close now to crossing over to meet with our father. It will be a celebration of a life lived well despite her pain over the years. She is still with us and we hope she has comfort and family to enjoy her final days weeks etc. I’m planning to return to work professionally as I move through my grief that will come as I miss my mother’s presence here in this mortal coil. I can’t wait to get back to work but I know my healing will take time and right space to restore my grace in the workplace. I’m 56 and I’m a big picture visionary with team player focused blessings for any work environment in multiple professional fields. I’m ready mum … I love you. It’s time. I've personally been on a 3 year hiatus from the workforce. I was dealing with a lot of personal issues that hindered me from doing anything with a clear head. I’ve been in career break for about 7 years (maternity leave). And started to plan the ways I could get what I want. I got TESOL (from ASU), won a scholarship (fully granted) Ph.D in management studies. I still have loads of things/obstacles/hardships cuz I m out of my comfort zone I had. Morally draining,at times frustrating,but believing in myself. It is really hard to manage your family life and research studies (due to high demands)

A change in career path meant a 5 year absence from full time work. Ive earned a second degree in a field far removed from my original education... and while I look forward to a 3 month placement, I'm not looking forward to the corporate wall I hit trying to get back in. Old, traditional, conservative managers and executive are still breathing and choking the life from the new face of the work force. So... I hope more companies see this and learn from it.

career breaks are for the privileged. Career breaks to us lower class people is called unemployment & it means you get less breaks or you're gonna be homeless if you don't keep going. We need a TEDtalk from somebody we can relate to more, not these upper & middle class people. Call it a career break either way by choice or not.. It's still being UNEMPLOYED. Its all about your perspective. Your as low as you feel. Maybe that's why some people that want jobs are unemployed...it starts with your mental state. Be optimistic and stop thinking that you are your income!

Why can't I find any information about people who need to return to the workforce without having had a highly focused and successful career beforehand? I have been at home raising my kids for nearly 9 years and the jobs I had before were minimum wage and part time so that I could also finish my degree. I have never had a job in what I got my degree in and the jobs I had while finishing school were ones any high school kid could get and frankly ones I'd never want to return to. Every RUclips video and article I find about "relaunchers" refer to highly focused career professionals, like social workers, Wall Street people and freaking rocket scientists. Many of us are not in that category-- not even close. I was in my 20s when I married and made the decision to have and raise children at home before tackling a career. Where can I find information and guidance for people like me? I'm not a lawyer, account, neuroscientist etc., etc.-- I worked at the YMCA while I completed a degree in English and I've taken care of my family for almost a decade. I return to the workforce in 5 months. I am fully prepared for entry level employment but it would be great to find resources reaching out to my specific demographic. There are a lot of us out there.

A bit of disconnect. She says the benefit of relaunchers are that they have settled, that they know what they want. And then go on to contradict it by saying it's the relaunchers responsibility to figure out if they still have the passion for particular position or skill. Seems like employers are not unfounded in their worries, according to her. Also, title is misleading. It's not how to get back after break, it's more like a history of and what employers are currently doing to attract relaunchers.

3,5 years ago I was incapacitated due to a life crisis... I felt miserable and ashamed, as if I had failed in life... Guilt.... I left work without saying a word to anyone... Stopped going to facebook.. Isolated myself at home, locked my door and turned off my phone... This lasted for basically 3 months... Before I got picked up by.... pffft... Family protection agency... And from there I have spent the past 3 years working with myself internally to somehow find happiness and passion towards life again... To be honest... I am really struggling... I recently turned 28.... And I feel as if I have blown my chances and that the train has left the station a long time ago....

+Jonathan Green I think she's referring to a state of unemployment in-between-jobs in general, whether by choice or by circumstance.An all-encompassing "How to get back into the workforce if you've been out of the loop" so to speak.In which case I'm assuming the term "break" is being used here since taking a break sounds like a thing that you don't need to be ashamed of, and is something that people should be able to do in any sane environment.

I wish to rejoin my former company after a break of 6 years, however they are offering me a lower designation(Executive)than I had with them previously(Senior Executive). Should I accept it? How do I negotiate for the same designation and salary ?

I am currently on a career break and its been 1.5 years only. Reason behind was deceased family member and additional single motherhood responsibilities. I am unboxing myself to new skills and talents now. Cant wait to enter the workforce after covid. This is indeed a fantastic you tube and i recommend to every women across the globe to watch it! I know this is 3 years later, but the content creators doesn’t have any control over what commercials google shows us. They know so much about us and they tend to us that against us as a way to mark relative products. Mark the commercial as a thumbs down and click that you no longer want to see it anymore. That should work just fine.

Oh my god, I can't even bare the thought of being surrounded by other people and having to fulfill expectations and responsibilities. All this while knowing my precious time of life is being wasted by incredibly trivial tasks and the years passing much faster than without work.
You might have bipolar tendencies. I am diagnosed bipolar and this is the exact same line of thinking that caused me so much heartache. Try to find a career you want to enter, that way everyday working will be meaningful since it's one day closer to your next career goal

A bit of disconnect. She says the benefit of relaunchers are that they have settled, that they know what they want. And then go on to contradict it by saying it's the relaunchers responsibility to figure out if they still have the passion for particular position or skill. Seems like employers are not unfounded in their worries, according to her.
Also, title is misleading. It's not how to get back after break, it's more like a history of and what employers are currently doing to attract relaunchers.

I'm on a career break of 4 years... after high school I didn't got into medical school (although I did get into dental school but I had my head high in sky so I didn't take it and I decided to take a year off and then another year and then another) I regret taking too many breaks 'cause it's getting boring for me to do the same thing again and again. 3,5 years ago I was incapacitated due to a life crisis... I felt miserable and ashamed, as if I had failed in life... Guilt....
I left work without saying a word to anyone... Stopped going to facebook.. Isolated myself at home, locked my door and turned off my phone... This lasted for basically 3 months...
Before I got picked up by.... pffft... Family protection agency... And from there I have spent the past 3 years working with myself internally to somehow find happiness and passion towards life again... To be honest... I am really struggling... I recently turned 28.... And I feel as if I have blown my chances and that the train has left the station a long time ago....
