      I thought the van crane pistol would one shot a volatile but then I remembered I'd turned on nightmare to get 1.5 exp handing in missions and then I died to virals as soon as the sun came up. I noticed the winter warrior outfit wasn't adding any bonus xp after I farmed the turtle to get the grapple hook, so I had to get the van crane outfit back on. Grapple hook is worse than I thought because you can't grapple every building especially straight up and I still get grabbed by biters looking for crosshairs to shrink to an eligible grapple point

    I think the thing about Sir, You're Being Hunted is you are literally being hunted. In the other games the enemies are just hostile and searching for you but in Sir they treat the whole thing like an actual game hunt. They spread out and march a line through fields, send the dogs into brush after you, lie in wait near resources you need, etc. There's something truly eerie about the methodical nature of it.

    • @Lickicker
      @Lickicker 4 месяца назад +3

      That is a very good point. In the forest half the time your attacked they just so happen to stumble across whatever log cabin youge built. Ya the cannibals are attacking you, but its never as if their hunting you. Most you can say is if you piss them off enough they will raid your home, but thats not exactly a equivalent to being hunted like a fox for sport

    • @walls_of_skulls6061
      @walls_of_skulls6061 4 месяца назад +2

      I came here to comment this exact same thing. Sir you are being hunted is a hidden gem. It really slipped under the radar but it’s vibes are truly on point. The fact that visibility is your most important stat on your hud followed by health illustrates this point. The game is barely even attempting to be a survival game and it’s not really open world. There’s a pretty limited area in which you play and the survival aspect is more based on how fast you can recover instead of long term sustainability. The game is the closest I’ve ever seen to the book “The most dangerous game” and a lot of the same strategies are employed by both the player and the robots. For instance when you happen across an area that isn’t very populated there can be birds, who startle. The robots will see that and start to make their way towards the player. Then after a warning that first time players can observe the patterns of the birds and use the exact same trick on the robots. The ai of the robots is additionally complex, with them both observing the world and creating groups to do various tasks. In the beginning it’s just a few robots with shotguns, but they break into small groups and start sweeping the island. Some groups will find loot or pieces of the device and guard it from you. As you progress more and more types of robots start showing up. Some start to have robotic hounds, some start riding around in hot air balloons with spotlights, eventually they start setting bear traps in the forest and alarms in the fields. No where is safe, and the pressure constantly ramps up as you slowly sneak around only dating to run when you find some cover from sight lines. It’s a phenomenal game and anyone who reads this and hasn’t played you owe it to yourself to give it a shot.

    Playing The Forest taught me that it is so hard building and maintaining a base that you are better off without one. You can always carry everything you need, no need to store things

    • @LtksK
      @LtksK 4 месяца назад

      That's what I dislike about those games. I like building bases and in an actual survival situation I'd probably try to get in a stable situation (at least to some degree) before exploring too much. The fact that the difficulty ramps up, even if you are staying as far away as possible from enemies while also just minding our own business, actually discourages from building a base. If you don't progress weapons wise fast enough your base will be overrun sooner or later. What's even the point of the whole elaborate building system, if you are better of rushing through the story? On top of that the most valuable resources respawn only when relogging, so shorter gaming sessions make the game easier, while longer gaming sessions make the game harder. Both should be equal, so players can play the way they want to.
      While I do like both games, I really dislike those two design choices.

    • @kostismetallo8697

      @@kostismetallo8697
      The building system in the second game got the biggest upgrade from the first game, so I expected it to being more important. Plus you got someone bringing resources in. So I naturally thought they wanted us to spend more time building than before. And that's what I did. But they completely removed safer areas and boats while still making your build quite fragile. It's no wonder almost all RUclips Videos of the game are about safe bases, like building on ice before it melts.
      I don't really feel like the devs gave us an option. At least no viable option. In theory we can play with lots of building, but in practice it's only viable if you cheat the game.

    Alien Isolation is the most tense horror game I've ever played. My uncle told me a funny story, when he played the game with a headset he sneezed and the Alien heard it because there's a setting that you can turn on that they can hear your surroundings. I always laugh when i hear it.

    Manhunt was a classic. I know its primarily you sneaking around and executing enemies in a gruesome fashion but the premise itself always keeps you on edge. Hiding in the shadows to randomly having that one enemy that pops out at you and forces you to run or fight really has an element of terror to it.😊

    Making a comparison, the alien AI in Alien Isolation is better designed than the monster AI in Amnesia the Bunker. The alien is much more unpredictable. But the Bunker monster is on your ass constantly, so much so that it gets more annoying than scary. As soon as it seems to go away, it is back a minute later. This is true even if you are not making any noise for it to hear. I think the developers went overboard on its aggressiveness and prevents the game from being as scary as intended.

    [PROTOTYPE] deserves a spot. the military is always out to get you and the closer you get to the end more sensitive the creatures are to your presence and will start chasing you down which will make the military chase you down as well. it's really chaotic the further into the story you get and we love it for it.

    Usually I’m not a huge fan of playing hide and seek with enemies especially horror games. But Alien Isolation hit differently for me, it wasn’t extremely scary, yet as soon as you heard the hissing or a vent becoming loud you know you’re expecting company. It rewards patience. Honestly the only thing I did hate was going through vents myself and as soon as you hear the alien it gets so terrifying. But overall I loved the game and the AI work on the alien was truly incredible.

    Why no love on these lists for System Shock 2? In the first third of the game, you're passively hunted by SHODAN's forces (they're looking for survivors in general, and only focus on you if you're seen, trigger a camera, or otherwise bring attention to yourself).
    In the next third, her "kids" are actively hunting you to prevent you from helping their mother.
    In the last third, both sides are hunting you (SHODAN has figured out you're trying to stop her while the kids have escalated their search for you), and it seems everyone upgraded their stealth capabilities.

    Anyone as old as me and remember the old adventure/horror game Ecstatica?
    You a hero ending up in a cursed village. Finding a few surviving villagers.
    While small piglet creatures,minotaurs,drunk bears and small wyverns roams the village.
    But the scariest is the Werewolf who can appear at random attacking you.
    You could damage it enough for it to retreat but he would not stay hidden long.
    Immortal until you find a late game weapon.
    But that werewolf scared me long before Mr x and Nemesis did😂

    In Far Cry 5 you are hunted CONSTANTLY. Seriously, the game doesn’t let you take a breath. If it’s not a cult patrol detecting you from a mile away, it’s some wild beast trying to rip your throat out. Sometimes both. Kinda hard to relax with a little fishing when an Eden’s Gate airplane comes out of nowhere and starts raining bullets down on you.

I was instantly hooked, so much so that when I played Alien Isolation, I felt almost experienced in being helpless. On a side note, I thought that F.E.A.R. and the sequel had that being stalked vibe along with some really great enemy AI for the time.

    i always loved the game Folklore Hunter for that premise they give you motion detection cameras and a safehouse for the night while you have a gun with limited ammo you search around the map for clues and supplies and get into the habit of running home as soon as it gets dark to your safehouse and then it just disappears and you are suddenly stranded in the forest with the monster stalking you and even during the day you can sometimes hear something moving behind you or hear branches crack it just sets such an uneasy and unsafe environment i love it and can only recommend it😁
