  • After hearing about demolition plans for the old Orange County Choppers building, Junior asks his dad to build one last bike together in the old shop. Senior agrees but the father-son team's clashing styles threaten to throw the entire project off track.
See it all happen on our NEW two hour special airing on the Discovery Channel August 4th 9 pm EST.

This was going to be a collaboration of both companies but ended up being one sided. Jr tried taking the build to the next level but Sr shut him down. During the sit down with the customers, Jr tried speaking about the build, Sr returned to his old ways and bad mouthed Jr. Anything Jr & his team did, Sr and his team changed it. So the build turn out to be all OCC. There was no collaboration at all. Jr wanting to keep the peace, bit his tongue. The bike turned out to be the same old " old school" . Nothing changed. All Sr did was piss and moan while Jr tried using his talent, as it was in the past. Jr should have his own show.

Completely agree with you, correct me if i am wrong during the sit down it was Jason who blurted out to Jr that he is trying to make it about himself all the time. Why anybody would allow Jason to respond in that kind of way to JR who is a designer, builder, creator of and at one time part owner of OCC which of course you already know this. Jason has always bothered me if you can tell, he is just a graphics artist who SR hired to put his Ideas to paper thats it, I believe that Jr came out the victor in this episode if you look at the much deeper aspect than just building a chopper, professionally and personally a big win.

@@enunez371630 I agree 100%. Jason thinks he's in the same league as Jr. Never liked Jason's designs or bikes. Personally I think he's an idiot. He could never out design Jr, even on Jr's worse day. PJD deserves his own show.

From this episode, it’s no surprise that Paul senior is bankrupt. He doesn’t compromise and his style aesthetic is beyond dated. This is the same kind of thinking that put Harley in the red

Watching this full episode pretty much sums up the whole 'American Chopper' experience. You have a father and son who have very different attitudes about how to approach their business. Senior continues to be inflexible and bull-headed while Paul Jr. wears his passion on his sleeve and tries to push for 'outside the box' thinking. The scene where they are both consulting with ABC representatives was hard to watch. I hate to agree with Senior, but Paul Jr's actions in that meeting were not very professional. That said, Paul Jr. demonstrated the most restraint and objectiveness throughout the build, despite Senior's subversive actions. What was with that dirt-bike looking gas tank? It's a shame Paul Jr. was not able to put his mark on this build at all. The losers here are the ABC company (could have gotten a much more interesting build); the viewing audience (this felt like a rerun of episodes past); and most importantly, the Teutul's (proving once again that they should NEVER work together on bikes).

I 100% agree. Occ's new fabricator kind off fanned the flames in that meeting. He had no business being in on that meeting. Sr used jr for his client and he virtually had no input

    • @HanasDad
      @HanasDad 4 года назад +2

Agreed. This episode was hard to watch. Paul Jr. definitely came off looking like the bigger jerk. Mikey was the only reason I didn't turn it off. I was a big fan of this show, but if they announce any future American Chopper shows I won't waste my time watching it. The show used to be fun. Now, it's just dirty laundry.

    • @matthewwilloughby2594

@@HanasDad jr really wasn't a jerk at all. They were supposed to do a bike together in the shop that they started it all in before it got torn down. Senior used jr for a client to make another bs bike and jr got no say at all. He was trying to have a say in the bike they were supposed to be building together. I think you really missed what really happened. Senior was definitely the huge tool in this situation and showed he really doesn't give 2 shits and doing a project with his son.

These opportunities are extremely rare and all he had to do as an employee of his dads business was to show up on time and do what he was told. Yep, Junior won the battle but everyone lost in the end. It’s a hard lesson to learn knowing now that all you had to do was to be able to look beyond the end of your nose.

  • @ugofist2340

I had really hoped to see a true collaboration here, but Paul Sr scuttled that from the get-go. Why do a corporate build? Why not do a bike for a charity auction where they had full control of the design and could do something that actually meant something to the show and the fans? All they ended up with was a dull, uninspired knockoff of a bike that had virtually no input from Paul Jr. Such a wasted opportunity and a disappointment for viewers to see a father be so heartless and cruel to his son. What a petty, sad old man. I've watched the series from the beginning and was really rooting for some kind of breakthrough with Sr., but I do commend Jr. for rising above it and being the better man. At least we got to see Mikey being Mikey and he always saves the day and offers something joyful to watch.

  • @chuckHart70

Here is my review of the show. In one word disappointing.
I have tried to be more of a mediator seeing both sides, Jr was lazy (years ago) etc, but I am starting to think Sr is just a psychopath now. Jr is trying but his dad is an ex-junkie, alcoholic, roid-head that you really can't reason with. As soon as Jason Pool "The Tool" walked in all hope was over with this project.
And its tough to say this, but Sr just doesn't get it. He has 15 years left on this rock, if he's lucky. Get your $hit together your son is trying to mend fences and you aren't.
I also think he is not very bright. If they could get along and make a few bikes together once in a while, they have a new TV show. I watch hours of build shows and most have zero arguing.
So figure it out, otherwise no one wants to watch two grown men (father and son) no less scream at each other over what size round bar to use.

U saw pauly alot in first couple seasons to build that celeb status up n thats it than money took control n they got qay in over there heads.
Shoulda never went to that massive building cauze its rototing away and way to big for them.now and its costing way to much to upkeep. I went last week n there was 2 people in the shop. No bikes on lifts and noone at the retail store with only 3 bikes on display. Very sad

Cant figure out how they go from getting along to not. Orange county had it all and threw it away. The whole crew of talent is gone and it is no longer what it once was. Pride money and egos got in the way. Paul jr was the company and sr knows it. He should have had some say into what that bike coulda been not what it turned out to be. Shameful and sad that they cant come together n be what they once were. This coulda been so epic of a show had they of brought nick christian vinnie cody rick and campo back for the original crew and built a kick ass bike. Dont know this josh guy. He builds nice products however he is no vinnie or paulie and he to will be gone soon as well.

It was OCC client, they already had been talking to them had a drawing done and accept by the client. when it came to when both Sr and Jr and their co-workers to have a sit down the the client to get Jr design input to it Sr didn't want anything to change, but when Jr said he would change everything on the bike and then put the bike drawing next to a another bike they had on display during the meeting it was the same bike just a different paint job, but yet it was a one off bike they were going to make for the client. sorry to say it looked like Shit and the same as every other bike OCC has produced after Jr left.

I DON'T understand why discovery still feels the need to put paul sr. on tv. I don't care about paul sr, occ, their bike designer, shop, nothing. We all spoke years ago during the live special where we voted for paul jrs bike over the occ build. I don't care that Sr started Jr's career. or that he was late or messy. The spiteful old man has not built a real bike himself in decades. All he wants to do is make the deals and show up to the reveal being the big shot, do actual work very little celebrity. It was Jr's bike designs and focus on fabrication and hand drawings that hooked millions of us viewers nationally 17 years ago during those first three seasons of American Chopper before Jason Pohl and before Paul Jr and Paul Sr both got lazy when they turned into HUGE celebrities in the 2000s and they hired managers and jason pohl, and personal assistants. I think Paulie Jr has really matured and Sr has got worse. To me the show was great with Paul Jr and Vinny, and Mikey. I think they should just get back to the bike building basics and go back to showing the whole design and fabrication process like early AC seasons, not just small bits of fab and then 10 minutes of family paintball play outings like the latest seasons. Take a shot and give Paul Jr completely his own bike build tv show at his shop again without Sr or occ dual storyline, and NOTHING about father-son relationship, NO Paul Sr or occ on tv at all!! Let it go discovery. Quit beating a dead horse and give the kid his due and not insult us again like you did with this " Last Ride "crap where Jr gets screwed by hateful spiteful Sr once again.

What made OCC was his son JR who was their one and only designer, It was his vision and i can imagine it is hard to wrangle and focus having to manage other employees around him so they can stay on task and can deliver on time, When Jr left it turned into a collaboration of ideas from everyone who was on staff at the time including Jason. Hey that sounds a lot like Gas Monkey Garage after Aaron left, because everyone knows Richard is the "money man" as he would say. Aaron leaving meant no designer with a single vision with the slow demise of Gas monkey, Richard relies on his mechanics and body shop employees on coming up with design choices. Gas Monkey has lost their mojo.

No more bike building collaborations between these two companies. If you are a company wanting a bike built, you just have to decide. If you are a control freak and want input as to the look of bike, you go to OCC. If you want to commission a bike build where caution is thrown to the wind and are good with giving free reign to the bike builder and willing to be surprised what the finished product will look like you go to PJD. There are advantages and disadvantage to both. There was actually an episode where PJD actually lost a client to OCC, because Paul Junior was unable let the client give input, because his bike building technique is so off the cuff and spontaneous, while OCC's bike building technique is meticulously planned out.
Even as separate entities the creative process versus the needs of the business conflict is very thematic in the American Chopper TV show.

The tension, hate and jealousy between Sr. and Junior is uncomfortable. Why was the director of the show unwilling to intervene and make this "American Chopper" show more entertaining?

Senior was typical senior he wouldn't let Polly have any kanye equality or partnership and he did what he always did he made a bunch of accusations that really didn't mean anything and his egopretty much that's all I you could say
I think that juniors expectations for the future are unreachable and unattainable because of seniors financial situation he has put himself into a position of he is going to have to rent a senior living one bedroom because that's all of money he skill to be able to afford when bankruptcy is done and over with

"Why can't Paul jr humble up and let Dad win??" I just watched the special. Paul Sr got his way on basically every aspect of the bike. At least Paulie got to work with him on the electronics. All he wanted to do was build a bike with his dad in the old shop. They barely fabricated in the old shop at all, and Paul Sr brute forced his way into the "OCC way" being the way everything got done. The special was presented as "OCC and PJD collaborate on a bike, working out of the original OCC shop one last time" but the final product was nothing like that - thanks to Paul Sr! And Paul Jr let him get his way because his relationship with his father is more important than getting his way on a bike.
