    as a short and light rider I enjoy my United Shapes Horizon 151 for carving, blew me away how stable it is and since it's softer than most "carving boards" I can actually take advantage and flex it out in my turns.

    I got a Jones Hovercraft a couple years ago and I never want to ride my regular board anymore (even on non powder days). The Hovercraft just feels so powerful and fast. The only thing I don’t like it for is jibs. Well and riding switch of course.

    • @BoardArchive

    I love that your pushing the "camber dominate" board's. They need work to ride but way better than the rockered out with little to nothing in camber to pop in/out of turn's. Shred safe!🤙

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive  3 года назад +1

      Camber dominant is where it’s at! Especially for carving

    • @eugenux
      @eugenux 3 года назад

      @rolling edges, only beginner to intermediate use reversed camber. Usually, from a point, any rider wants more control when riding. You cannot have that with reverse camber. The good thing is, even for us, the less skilled ones, there are versions of camber boards that we can ride without being killed on every run. #thankGOD(designers, I mean)forcamrockandScamber.

      @@filipvitek204 Super fluid carving for a twin board in my opinion .thanks to that 3BT and the camber profile combo it just makes it easy to go from toe to heel with ease. he likes to cover boards that are great for a lot of stuff. The only korua suited to anything other than posi posi carving is the cafe racer (my opinion obviously but they basically say the same thing on their website). Which just isnt what most people want when they think carving board unless its the 3rd or 4th in their quiver (which again not a lot of people have that big of a quiver). • @jonathangedye6793
      @jonathangedye6793 3 года назад +4

      It's not about height. It's about weight and volume/surface area of the board. Rider weight and surface area play heavily into the float characteristics of how a snowboard performs in powder, however this video is about carving, where sidecut radius, length and stiffness are more important aspects to consider on groomers. Three dimentional bases will also be a factor in how they initiate and come out of turns. Also look into contact length and effective edge when considering how a board will perform on piste. These aren't your late 90's early 2000's boards, it doesn't have to come up to your chin to be the right size anymore. Lots of factors to consider including riding style, stance and setback. After that we're going to have a conversation about hardbooters.

    One thing I always wondered is whetger it's actually important of where you ride the board. Like, is there a difference when you ride those boards in Colorado vs riding it in Europe/Austria? If so, do you have experience in riding both locations and can highlight some of the aspects important for snowboard selection?
    I've never been snowboarding somewhere else, so I don't really have a comparison of the conditions.

      Thanks Chris. I think if powder is going to be a main focus I'd get the 151. I weigh around 150lbs and the 151 still had plenty of stability and a nice sturdy flex. You'll have more surface area for more float with the 151, and a slightly more flexy playful feel with the 148 but I think you would really enjoy either size to be honest.

    So is Camber good for carving? I bought a DC PBJ camber board because the shopkeeper told me it was good for all mountain and carving. I explained what I was looking for in a snowboard and this is the one he recommended. Did he lie to me for the sale? I want a board for speed and carving. I'm not a terrain park person at the moment (maybe later on after I've gained some more experience and have some free time if I break something, lol). I live in MN, but want to travel for more mountain action (we do have mountains in MN). I'm a beginner rider moving into intermediate and fast improving (I ride a lot). The board I learned on appears to be a Burton camber (it was gifted to me by a friend and is fairly old). Any recommendations? I was looking into the CAPiTA birds of a feather 2021 if I don't keep the DC. I need something that will take care of me as I continue to progress. Not looking to spend money on something I wont be using by next season y'know?

    Hello, I am 180cm and 77kg, I like carving, what do you think is the best size for the Party Wave +?

    I picked up the party wave + 151 on sale this year at 175lbs, think it's too small for every day riding? Can trade it before the season starts.

      I think you’ll be fine on the 151

    Hi TJ, what exactly is a taper. And I am 6ft4, how long do you think I should buy a board?

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive  3 года назад

      taper means the tail of the snowboard is narrower than the nose. This reduces the surface area in the back and makes it easier to stay ontop of soft snow, it is also noticeable carving. Size is based primarily on your weight, and also depends on the specific board(s) you're looking at. How much do you weigh? what's your boot size? what boards are you considering?
