Thank you for saying “ISO AUTO is the way”. I shoot leica and I can’t understand why people are riding that dial all day long. I understand for some shots how you may want everything on manual, but most of the time, let’s be frank, the camera gets it right 95% of the time.
I really enjoyed this one mate. I've watched one of Bill's talks before and I thought he spoke very well about his photographs and I found his photography very interesting. It was great seeing you out on location with him having a casual chat like a couple of mates. Nice work mate.
Hey man. Thanks for watching! Yeah was a fantastic shoot. He’s a great guy! Filmed nearly 2 hrs of footage haha.
Bill is a great actor Gareth. He was Mr Nasty in Coronation Street (according to the wife as I didn't watch it 😀) but she said he used to get abuse in the street due to how convincing he was. Great vlog btw, my neighbour does ICM of colourful fish and koy Carp through calm water. I sometimes do ICM in my street photography but I called it WSA (wrong settings again)👍
Nice to see you back. First class. Bill has some fantastic imges on his IG account
Great video, very much enjoyed it. Bill's pictures remind me of Van Gogh, it almost looks like brush strokes.
Thank you very much!
Hugely enjoyable, and inspirational Gareth. Thanks for getting Bill along to show his approach to ICM. Can't wait to give it a go myself again very soon.
Thanks mark. I was shocked how much I enjoyed it haha. Do you a favorite image?
@@GarethDanks Hi Gareth, I really like them all, but my absolute favourite is the one at 12:27 of the thistle type plants. It wasn't (to me) an obvious candidate for ICM, but the result was brilliant. I've also had a look at Bills images on Instagram and his website, and I'm glad I don't have to chose a favourite from those, they're beautiful.
The Turner effect, some feels there. Nice.
Great vlog and great photos........ definitely need to to try more ICM......👌👌
This has opened up a whole new world to me. Seeing your photos here, I just resonated with the ICM ones, then when you did a more traditional one it was ‘just another sunset’ and failed to capture the feeling you get viewing a sunset first hand, which I felt was miraculously conveyed with the ICM.
Thank you.
Bill is awesome been following since I shot Pentax, moved on to Sony now, but still follow Bill's work he is outstanding....you're not too bad yourself Gareth sorry to hear you lost your social your street hashtag still gets plenty of use though so I suppose you've still left your mark - you should do a reel under that hashtag on insta to let people know your new accounts etc. juts a thought.
great idea mate! ill give that some thought! lost interest in social media now tho.. thanks for watching :-)
Watching Bill taking his ICM shots, looks like he's invented a new mindfulness crazy called Photo Tai Chi 🤭
Wow, what an insiprational video. I'd never heard of ICM before, but how beautiful and inspiring are those images.
Really enjoyed this video. Excellent job, my friend.
Japanese camera boffins will be jumping out the top floor windows
Awesome pics. And what a nice couple of guys
This is a great video, really inspiring. Thanks!
Good start, now try it with street photography. Some great examples out there.
This is quality Gareth. Really enjoyed the interviews, the BTS content, ideas of shooting movements and techniques and of course the final images. Top work bud
Great photos you two. I love ICM and yes you can spend literally hours experimenting. One thing I avoid is dark shadows esp if along the horizon.
I really enjoyed this one, great video 👌🤙
Nice to see you back Gareth. Yes, ICM photography is infectious. If you got a few unique shots (from thousands) you never want to finish doing it. I even do ICM streets now and I like what I'm getting. Look like Bill is crazy about ICM too. The best thing is all about it, you never know what you get like the regular sometimes really boring and overdone photography.
What a great video, thanks to you and Bill.
What a brilliant couple of characters , with interesting images, a wonderful break from the usual !
thanks mate.. thats literally how i saw it!! felt very different editing it all
Excellent video, never seen ICM before. Love the photo of the sunset at 20:34. Would you mind providing the settings?
Yes I think that’s my fav too. I’ll check mate
@@GarethDanks Cheers mate. Would appreciate it.
Brilliant vlog. Really enjoyable.
Oly Moly I had no idea ICM was so freekin beautiful. Watching Bill was inspiring. Thank you for this!!!
Haha. Me neither. It was great fun.
I really enjoyed this one Gareth, it's a skill I haven't tried before, and I will now. Bill was an interesting guy, so I'll be following him on Instagram now, thanks mate. Tony
HUH!! I have been doing that for years! Didn't realize it has been given an offical name. Just knew I was moving the camera - or me. My favourite things to shoot this way are driving by homes with Christmas lights or night scenes especially with neon lights or driving on roads and holding the camera on the window and just continuously shooting.
For Christmas lights, I usually keep the shutter on open until I release it. I use a point and shoot.
Photographer, Actor and drummer for Black Sabbath someone who get's around😉
Haha. Very clever. Looks different in real life tho. 👍🏻
beautiful shots and collab
I saw you two chatting after the talk! I think Bill's exit from Corrie left him with quite a headache!
ah really? yeah was a good show! he did say yeah
No idea why it took me so long to watch this one but I'm really glad I finally got around to it. Thanks for a brilliant video and that sky!!
Hey thanks mate. Really glad you enjoyed it
A very enjoyable watch, all the images where superb. I’ve been following Bill for quite sometime. Belting Gareth 👍
Fantastic video, so very enjoyable!!
Hey thanks for watching Ed. Favorite image?
Daniel-san. Love it. Fantastic content. I’ve recently seen ICM images and wondered about the process. Will be definitely giving it ago this afternoon. Brilliant. 🔥
It's more painting than photography really, interesting stuff. BW's level of enthusiasm really comes across, I feel it's what missing in 99% of photography content these days. Great vid thanks.
Very inspiring!
Thanks Gareth, this was a fun watch. I've played with ICM some, took 4 or 5 and then moved back to more normal photos. I'll give it a more proper try and check out Bill's web site. At about 15:30 is my favorite and 20:40 is another.
Excellent video, many thanks to you both for sharing....
Hey there, great to see you again Gareth. Some excellent shots in ICM from both you and Bill.
My favourite unfortunately is not ICM it’s the low down shot of the sunset with the soft focus wave. Great vlog mate, all the best
amazing guy
Enjoyed watching this one very much. I’ve been taking my camera out nearly every day and had forgotten about ICM completely. However I do love some of this images here, particularly One of Bills grasses. I’ll definitely be giving this a go later tonight and by the looks of things filling up a memory card! Thanks for posting this!
Great stuff, Bill comes across as a very genuine guy. Nice to see a successful chap giving his time 👍🏻👍🏻
Great to see you back Gareth, though ICM isn’t something I’ve tried or like very much these were great. There are some that I do like but not many as I find some people go too far and try too hard sometimes but these just make the image look like a painting. Well done, you may have just converted me
Thanks for sharing this technique and the challenge to give it a go. Your first attempts were very creative and I’m not expecting mine to go that well, but I really want to try and try again.
What a lovely guy Bill is (way too handsome though!). You both produced some beautiful ICM images. Great guest, great host, great location, great images. Thanks to you both. Best regards Robin
hey thanks so much robin!! nice of you
Great shots 👌🏽
Really interesting video, never really thought of doing ICM but definitely going to give it a go next time I’m out 👍🏼. Not sure if I’ll be able to pull off the ICM dance though 🕺🏻
Haha. He’s set the bar high there. Hell of a mover 😂
It's definitely a fun thing to do. It's not something I do a lot, but when I remember to, it's fun experimenting. My friends fishtank was the most recent subject 🙂
But why have I never thought of the beach at sunset for ICM?! Thanks for that.
It really is! i loved it! a fish tank could be fab tho! haha
Another great video Gareth! Definitely something I will be giving a go! Always good to break away from those limiting rules, tripod and exercising your creativity!
thanks simon!! 100% mate, liberating too haha
Gareth that is a great piece of work. Bill seems like a true gent, very generous in sharing his thoughts etc 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Steven. Yeah he’s a top bloke for sure 😁
Great video Gareth, fantastic images
Superb video, so much to take from this, thank you and Bill for the inspiration.
Thanks Phil. Glad you enjoyed
Very cool. Both sets of images were great. I tried ICM for the first time in April at the bluebell woods we met at last year. Pretty cool place to try it. Interesting results on that occasion but I think I need to further refine my technique and try different subjects.
Blue-b’s would be an amazing scene for that.
Very organic, descriptive, honest piece, very enjoyable and inspirational.
Thank you Steve! nice of you mate! appreciate the feedback :-)
Great video Gareth and good to see you back, must give this technique a go, great to see an underated Pentax being used also !
haha thanks mate!! appreciate the kind comment..
The "flowers" are Sea Holly I think Gareth. Great interview 👍
Ahhhhhh…! Brilliant! Thank you Leighton
So good to see another video from you Gareth, especially when you chat to other photographers. Loved this one, it's inspired me to have a go.
cheers owen.. i think interviews will be the way i take the channel forward :--)
ICM Very interesting, learn something new every day. Great watch
Great to hear! You mean always bring a horse to the beach right?
@@GarethDanks Never go anywhere without one 🤣
Really enjoyed this! Very interesting and inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it! appreciate the comment mate
Great interview Gareth with some fantastic images at the end.
thanks mate.. only at the end tho?? haha
Never heard of ICM before but very interesting, I’m going to have to try it
i had but hadn't tried it really.. used to teach it as a safety shot on workshops but never more than 2 mins on it haha
@@GarethDanks it worked really well with the colours you had. Not sure about a rainy day in Yorkshire. Maybe revisit it and do 5 mins 😆
This looks such fun! Definitely going to have a go. Great video
Than you Tracey! It’s lots of fun 😁
@@GarethDanks it could be a trial of shutter speeds in the garden today because it’s too damn hot to go anywhere 😳😂
I found it best to choose two shutter and work with (master) them first. Too many variables else
Great watch
#9
Thanks mate. Appreciate you watching dude
Appeals to my arty side.
About time something did 😂
@@GarethDanks 😛
Sorry Gareth gave up after 3 minutes not for me.
Fantastic video. I’m yet to try ICM. May just give it a go now.
Sux about your socials being hacked. Followed your new Instagram.
thanks so much mate!! appreciated! :-)
