I don't really play piano a lot and the only way i can learn songs is by watching videos and seeing what notes they play and i fucking hate that. It sucks that there is no written way of learning aside from sheet music that I can't understand
I feel the same, but the only difference between you and me is that I play alot of piano. Honestly, I prefer watching Synthesia tutorials or from this guy in this video. If you wanna get better, try doing some classic music first, like Beethoven or Mozart. I tell you even their songs teach you something, it may take a while but you'll know when you know how to play 10 songs of the 1800s - 1900s. If you don't prefer classics then that's fine, go with your own flow. It took me 5 months to get the most iconic classics, and they really thought me something. The songs in my opinion teach me about majors and minors that fit within the key your playing on your right hand. I've learnt alot that I eventually got myself improvising at the music I play. I literally learnt Marshmello's Happier in under 10 minutes. I know, I hate it also that watching tutorials and replaying them over and over is very hard, but eventually you'll get it. I choose Synthesia over sheet music because I will spend more time trying to read what note is that in and knowing the bass and rests. But watching notes fall on the piano just feels so easier. Also, try not to watch younger kids play advance shit like Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement because discourage and jealousy kicks in.
