Are you kidding me?!!! Wow that’s amazing!!!! How in the world would you even think to do that?! Thank you for this absolutely incredible hack!!!! Thank you!!! 🥰
I use the back of a metal spoon. Works way easier then a popsicle stick, and its how my grandpa told me its how they used to do it at the factory he worked at.

You are a Crafty Goddess! I haven't played with rub-ons since I was a kid, but I did buy some recently at DT. I haven't used them yet, and now here you are with a solution that I didn't know I needed! You are amazing. Thank you for guiding my way through the crafting mine field.💥👍🏻

It looks like the outline of the backing sheet debossed onto the white card, but with a adjustment to the shim this would be perfect! And for many purposes it wouldn’t matter because the image is going to be cut out or there will be embellishments on top of the debossed lines.
Brilliant! Saves the times also when you think you've rubbed the whole sheet, lift it up only to find you've missed a bit or it pulls off as you lift. This is a game changer! Thank you! 👏 Kate xx
Check Craigslist regularly. I was able to get a brand new Big Shot Plus with extras for $80 January 2020. Someone didn't like their Christmas present. I also got the regular Big Shot several years ago along with tons of Bigz dies for $25. I just checked a few times a week.
@@LovinglfDesigns I've been wondering what the cheaper versions of a big shot are like? I'm in Australia. I check on Facebook marketplace regularly, and on Gumtree, but so far haven't had any luck.
For those who maybe don`t have a cut die machine: I don`t know where I read this but someone said that it helps to hit the rub-ons with a heat tool which makes them transfer easier and stick better. I haven`t tried it but I think it`s worth a try :)
I have a little acrylic rolling pin from my cake decorating supplies I use and I just roll over it several times. It helps also to make sure your rub ons aren't too cold. If they are kept in a really cold place the image won't lift off very well so it wont transfer and you'll have edges that wont transfer and will just tear off. I try to keep them near my light before I use them just to kind of warm them up like a heat lamp so the image loosens & makes it easier to lift off. I also have little silicone cake decorating tools specifically a little flat edged one that I sometimes use to help with intricate rub ons because it won't hurt them & you can press hard & get into edges without ripping anything. It is a great tool overall and comes in a set of I think 6 or 7 different tools with silicone tips. I even use them to smear my gel pens when coloring with them!
If your rub on is completely dried out and refuses to transfer use matte medium. Apply it to the back liberally with your finger and burnish firmly but quickly. Don't allow the medium to dry or the acetate will pull the paper up along with your rub on. Grasp the edge of the acetate and pull back slowly. If you see the rub on is still not adhereing reburnish quickly and try again. This works 9 times out of ten. It's a timing thing.
Omg!!! It works sooo good!! I tried a few different brands and what i found is that the rub-on’s with the thick acetate career sheet don’t work very well but the rub-on’s with the velum career sheet works so perfectly!!! Thank yo for such an awesome hack!!!!!!!!!
I use my Big Shot for lino-prints, graphic prints, letterpress, flattening things neatly (even bottlecaps) and all sorts of things its not intended for. It can take surprising amount of abuse, only my plates are totally hideous - gotta love it :)
Whaaaa? Transfering them is THIS easy??! 😮 I’ve always struggled with the popsicle sticks and eventually gave up using rubons! 🤣 Thank you so much for this awesome trick!!
I feel you! A trick i learned years ago... If it helps.. get a pack of transparency sheets for a laser printer and u can use them in your inkjet printer. Only you print them on the "wrong" side. Make sure they're dry before you mess with them so u don't smudge them. But they rub off (or on, as it were) much easier. I friggin LOATHE rub-ons. But i use the transparency sheets a lot. And if you're careful you can reuse them sometimes. I'm on the same pack i got years ago and i use them quite a bit
Lindsay, this is a brilliant idea! Thanks so much. Been watching your channel for years and you always give great value - with hacks, how-tos and inspiration. Not too mention humor and great hair in all its iterations.

That's one of those"V8"hacks because it makes perfect sense!!! Especially considering lol the transfer is pressure related, so running it through the die cutting machine, to get it release is a no brainer..... you'd think....😏 THAT'S right up there with using a 4-6 inch dense foam roller to ink home decor/extra large stamps instead of the stamp pad and when you're finished, just put it in a ziploc bag until next time!!! Pretty much. You can use clear transparency sheets, too. The ones for a laser jet printer. Only use them in your ink jet printer and print on the "wrong," side. Be careful to let it dry so u don't smudge the ink before you place it.

And what about the indents from the plastic? Do you run it thru the press again to flatten the paper back out?
You can but adding the ink and watercolor over it plumped the paper back up

it looks like the plastic surrounding the rub on embossed down into the paper a little? Or was that just a weird shadow from lighting?
I could see it too. May be because she added the paper shim?
I'm guessing that could be removed by running it through again with plain cardstock on top, but I'll have to experiment...
Yes It did but you can run it through again minus the plastic. Once I inked it you couldn't tell tho
