    If this wasn't so freaking loud I would buy it. This would drive my wife insane. On second thought???

    Hey Mike! I just recently got the handygym to supplement the eccentric part of my resistance band training. For some reason, I don't think I'm feeling any tension when the machine recoils back on the eccentric portion. And sometimes when I pull on it, the rope just goes out and never comes back in. Am I doing something wrong??

      Hi Emily. Biggest thing with these is getting a groove almost like a yo yo. There is an eccentric load but it's not the same as with weights. It's more a controlled eccentric that then is more abrupt when you make the switch to concentric.

    • @emilyng2844
      @emilyng2844 2 месяца назад

      So when you bring it down, you guide it down? Do you let it bring you down or dont control it down? Sorry im just confused 🤣. I have never fully mastered a yoyo before so thats why im asking

      @@hybridresistance some initial non-exercise related questions I have.
      1. Is the Harambe Butter necessary/worth it? (Also this seems like something you could pick up at the local hardware store for $5)
      2. Is the platform pad worth it?
      3. This might be a better question for TSA and Harambe directly. I’ve got a business trip at the end of July so I bought the travel bag. Is this something that I can use as a carry on or is that not worth the risk and I should just check it even though traveling like that is a pain in the ass.
      4. They gave me what looks like the old style of spacers for free. What is the impact of those on progressive overload.
      5.) Do the resistances they provide on their band stacking chart include the weight of the K bar or are they independent of the bar? I would imagine it’s just the band because the K Bar, T Bar, and handles all have different weights. So is that something to include after using the published band resistance?
      6.) 1 initial thought exercise wise is creative ways to use the bar outside with just the bar. I.e I have a door hook I use for tricep push downs. My old bar was very low weight so the resistance felt like it was all with the band. The Harambe Bar is pretty heavy so the resistance felt “assisted”. So just some other good examples of ways to utilize the bar set up.
      7.) I know you reviewed the handles but I am wondering if these are a good low cost alternative (I purchased these a month ago) a.co/d/9OpBdhp
      I’ll send more exercise focused ones as I adjust to the new system.

    Had one of these for quite a while now, nearly 2 years. Probably the least used bit of kit I have by a long way. Just feels like too much messing about, the strings, the settings the changing discs the noise. One gym purchase I wish I had given a miss.

    Hi
    I just got one second-hand and everything seems new and in good shape. I’m trying to use it though and it does recoil but there is no eccentric resistance on the recoil no matter how much concentric force I use. It’s totally slack. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with it?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад

      When you say "slack" you mean after you pull it doesn't want to recoil? You're not going to get the eccentric force you'd get from a weight, it's more of a controlled eccentric with the flywheels.

    • @SouthFist
      @SouthFist 5 месяцев назад +1

      You can’t resist at the end of the concentric. Give it a chance to recoil for about 1 to 2 seconds and then resist. You don’t get the eccentric for the full range.

    I find the best use for it is dynamic exercises. As I mentioned in another post, my first one broke and, rather than send it in for repair or replacement, I took it apart to see how it worked. In any case, I purchased another one because there's nothing I've found that gives matches the dynamic ability of the unit. I use it for punching strength, you get the dynamic on the concentric and resist it on the eccentric. I find that it quickly develops dynamic (e.g., punching or throwing) power. The fact that I bought a second speaks to my opinion of its unique capabilities.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад

      Definitely says a lot that you bought two. Thanks for sharing your practical uses for it. It for sure is a unique product and I mentioned it the video, an easier more accessible way to incorporate flywheel training.

      @@hybridresistance I love how easily you can switch from one exercise to another, especially without having to load and unload weights. It adjusts the resistance on the fly, for each exercise, each set, each rep.

    I'm a truck driver and I was wondering if you think that the handy gym would be a great workout equipment while I'm on the road or is there another piece of equipment you would suggest over it

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's not bad for sure, but I think you might drive your fellow truckers crazy with the noise. Some systems / products that I've heard from other truckers on the channel are the X3 Bar or Harambe Systems, Max Pro, and UniTree Pump. All of these I've reviewed as well if you check on the channel. But let me know if there's one in particular and I can point you to the right video.

      If I was in your situation I would get a suspension trainer/rings, some resistance bands and a outdoor pullup/dip bar that mounts on trees/posts (there's one on Amazon for about £200). All of that would fit in a rucksack.

  • @kriswempa5171
    @kriswempa5171 5 месяцев назад

    Thanks for doing another review on this. It still seems very pricey for what it offers, especially if it's only going to supplement existing workout equipment. The web site says that the red discs can go up to 220 pounds EACH with the pulley, but the picture seems to imply that you need both to reach 220 pounds. Do you know which it is? It would also be nice if they offered a bit more flexibility with their packages. It would be nice to start with just the handle and discs before deciding to drop so much money.

    • @calingog2645
      @calingog2645 5 месяцев назад

      You need both disks plus the pulley to get to 220.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm pretty sure the max 220 is with the pulley. But honestly like I said in the video, I rarely (at least for what I'm doing) feel the need to add more resistance. They do have somewhat of base "yellow disc" package, but it's still price for sure.

    • @kriswempa5171
      @kriswempa5171 5 месяцев назад

      @@hybridresistance Thanks. I was actually asking if it was 1 red disc or 2 red discs for the 220 pounds. Can you even use a single disc or are both required?

      BTW, it would be good to see a video of you going through 3-4 exercises with the sound included, just to get a better picture.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад +1

      There's a lot more I could have said and this was one thing I didn't address for the sake of time, so I appreciate the question. I'm honestly used to the noise and it took my wife time to get used to wondering what was going in the garage when I would use it. I would not recommend if you live in an apartment or if you plan on using it at a busy park. Aside from noise the other thing I didn't mention is the risk of burning or bruising yourself it you're operating flywheel near your body. So you just have to be careful to obviously not get in contact with the flywheel when operating.
