First off, i'm a new sub and i love Groo. For ages my big hollywood idea was a Groo movie starring Jack Black, maybe with a nose prosthetic. WHO DO I TALK TO TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN? Love the channel and the content, great job!
Ha! Jack Black! I’ve never thought of him playing a live action Groo… Glad you decided to subscribe, Scott! I hope you enjoy the other Groo videos I’ve made (plenty more to come!) And thanks for the kind words! 😀
the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse is about a perfect example as I've ever seen that really beautiful line work can be Brough to life. Would be wonderful to see this move forward.
I got so excited when I read about the animation. It was said that Aragones had drawn groo from every angle over the past 40 years so they'll just use his art as animation reference.
It would be so difficult to hear a voice to Groo and not it be my own 😂 but I will love and accept it still I'm sure! Love your new acquisitions, I'm all caught up on Tarzan too, excited about it. And don't we love our Texas Groo buddy?! 😜
I know, right?! For how many years has Groo simply been a silent voice in my head (honest, I'm not mad.) Only since I started reading Groo out loud (let's say to my children) have I noticed Groo's "voice" is... difficult to do. I can't imagine how a voice actor will do it (though I'm sure with Mark's decades of experience casting voice actors, it'll be as good as it could possibly be) but I'm sure it'll be an awkward surprise. 😀
To me the colors and saturation on Starslayer looks way better than Epic's Groo Chronicles. It's so saturated it drowns out Sergio's linework. I remember seeing that article on the animation and thinking to myself that it didn't seem likely to happen.
Great channel, I'm so glad just I found it. I've been asking Senor Aragones about an animated Groo every year at SDCC since I finally found his booth (which took me 26 years in a row to do, no joke). I want to audition for the Groo voice in the worst way. I have been hearing a specific one in my head over 30 years. I look forward to checking out your videos, Groo Tube. I'm really glad you exist!
Any updated news on this? I've hoped for this for a long time. I was surprised by how much I liked my other (2nd favorite) dimwitted hero's adaptations to other forms of media with "The Tick" being consistently good in cartoon and both live action versions.
I haven’t heard anything else since the announcement late last year. Unfortunately even the new Groo.com site is down (it’s showing the old site today) and, the DidIErr.com website, home of Did I Err Productions seems… mostly down too. Hmm. Don’t like it.
This is great news and I'm so glad they decided to go animated. I don't think live action could capture the wakiness. I hope you're right about keeping the art style as close as possible and I think a TV series is the way to go as a shorter regular format seems more suited for covering the material in the episodic comics. Once they have a fan base, it would be cool to see a movie based on one of the mini-series or graphic novels but that doesn't seem the best way to introduce new fans. Sadly, I missed the early issues of Groo and Tarzan so I have to wait for the whole thing to come out as a single book next year, majorly bummed about that.
You know, I hadn’t thought of there idea of turning the stories from the comics into episodes of an animated Groo series. I was assuming they all be originals. But maybe it would be cool to see some of the classic stories done in animated form. 😀 Are you unable to get the earlier Tarzan from your local comics book store?
I feel like movies are almost entirely 3d CGI, but on TV there's still a lot of 2D. Netflix also has a lot of 2D successes, with stuff like Castlevania particularly prominent. However, not all 2D animation is the same. Unfortunately, a lot of 2D TV animation is lower quality "Flash" style. I feel like classic hand drawn animation with classic "jitteryness" and "grain" would be best for capturing the feeling of Groo comics, but I don't think we can hope for that.
I definitely hope for the classic hand drawn 2D animation. And with Mark’s long time experience in the comics and animation business, I think there’s good reason to hope. 😀
Did I Err Productions, doesn’t inspire confidence as a name. But who should voice Rufferto? Obviously I have already penciled in Patrick Stewart for Groo.
Mulching is a process of inbred fertilization which employs certain decomposed organic materials-- including, but not limited to animal sediment-- to blanket an area in which vegetation is desired. The procedure enriches the soil for stimulated plant development while, at the same time, preventing erosion and decreasing the evaporation of moisture from the ground.
Would love an animated Groo only if the animation isn't some FLAT CARTOON STYLE! I would prefer a CGI GROO, imagine someone like Pixar doing it. It would look so much more fleshed out and full, like The Incredibles. I still like the CGI LOONEY TOON shorts, they really look good. Hopefully Groo does come to the screen in some fashion, time will tell.
I was pretty sure I there was no way I’d like a CGI Groo carton, but I’ve been thinking about it, and like you, have to agree that there have been some good CGI conversations of traditional “flat” cartoon styles. I’m thinking of the Charlie Brown movie too. Maybe it could be done well. 😀
Nice scores! I have a few doubles I'm happy to surrender if they'll plug any holes. Let me know what those holes are or if you prefer I dm which issues I have extra. Keep on going with the great groo content!
Andy! Thanks so much for the offer. Would you mind emailing me? (RUclips is (rightfully?) poor at letting users connect privately.)The address is on my website -- which should be linked at this channel's main page! Thanks a bunch!
Groo is Amazing. I'm a huge fan !!
Hi Ant! We all agree! Glad you found the channel, be sure to check out some of my other videos, you might enjoy them too!

I don't doubt that he'll provide complete models (along with story boards) if this happens. Very exciting stuff though, eh? 😀
Here we are in the comments section of the Internet! I heard it's hosted in Saskagroon.
“SaskaGroon” or “SaskaGroo?” I don’t think I quite nail that one. But I’m glad you found the Internet’s content section. It’s just down here. 😉

Hope they go for John C. Reilly :D
Hopefully this might be a driver to finally getting new complete type collections printed...synergy and all that.
I’d love to see more! 😀

This round of Animated Groo seems more likely to me based on who is doing it. Will it happen? Who knows. 😉

@@GrooTube OK, TY for the reply!
I have the full 4 volume set of Legend of Thaais for sale on Ebay right now, in case any addicts need a Christmas present....

I'm all in for Groonimation!
I knew you would be. After all, you're from SaskaGroo as well. 😀

Barely found this channel a few minutes ago. I haven't seen the "mulch" routine in almost four decades. My nephew and I used to LOVE Groo! Subscribed.
@rickdeleon7386 Excellent! Glad you found the channel and I hope you enjoy the other videos! What Pirates?
I do not like Groo crossing universes. The Tarzan and Conan things just fell flat for me.
Looking forward to animation though!
You know me, I try to stay positive in my Groo videos. 😀 But I know what you mean.
