@Techminds please RTFM. Press and hold the BAND button to enable VFO free tune mode. No channels. Just a proper VFO with adjustable step sizes in the menu. Then if you set the PF button to CH.PUSH, You can navigate the VFO using only the microphone. It's really nice to use that way. 73

@@TechMindsOfficial you're very welcome. Your videos are fantastic by the way. There are some really powerful features built into this radio that many will not see. Also once in VFO mode, check the STEP menu and set this to your preference. 1k or 5k is an excellent choice for most SSB operations, for fast scanning of the band for activity (especially with the microphone buttons) 73

Many emergency situations around the world have been taken care of by CB Radio Operators, so any radio that includes the 11 meters band is a plus. We are experiencing a very unstable period of World peace and It would be wise to be prepared to respond to any situation in any frequency available. 73

Part of the idea of the clicks is to prevent it being knocked off frequency when its used in a car. I had an FT747GX that had that type of dial and did make it easier in the car. It has its place, and i think these CB multimodes are a compromise.

Great Video. I use a Xeigu G90 and have made contacts as far as 10,000 miles away. However, on those days when the 10-meter band is fair to poor, having 80-watts would allow me to work the bands successfully (I do SSB). I have researched this radio and will pick one up. Thanks again for another great video...73...Hugh...KN6KNB

If the transceiver actually includes the 15 meter (21 MHz) band with full values, it would be a game changer in the class of common 10-11 meter radios. There are more chances of QSO when 10 meters is weak through the 15 meter band. It would be an inexpensive option to establish as a holiday and mobile device.

I don't know why these companies don't drop the 11m band and add the 20m band. If they did they would have a really big selling radio. Let's face it, 10-20 and 40m bands are the big three bands for hf operators.

Great review. Their is a work around that channel display. You can put that in VFO mode . then just tune frequency. no need to step threw the 40 CH mess. Yon can however is re program one of the bands of 40 the the UK CB band. I have the QT 60 and it is great. I keep it in VFO mode. it is just 10/11/12 meter .missing CW , I do not use it. Not a requirement hear in the USA. I did get it going digital modes like FT8 and SSTV. Just keep power down due to duty cycle of the mode of digital. On that QT80 that is also the anytone AT 6666 PRO. you can use that software download from anytone. The QT 60 is the AT 5555 N II . Their is a PRO model now that has CW. I Digi Rig will interface to it for digital modes. hear in the US them 4 bands are flat lately. lots of background noise. But 6 meters has been open ! The SUN has been busy with solar storms. 20 meters is best band right now. Summer static too high for me for 80/160 meters to be used. 73

isn't the a possibility to increase the Treble in the SSB RX in this QT80 ? the noise reduction attenuates the higher tones of the voice to much, to my hearing. the user manual says it has 0.25µV for 10dB Sinad Sensitivity, i think that is a bit unsensitive for 21MHz and higher QRG, weak SSB voice signals will get lost. it would be great if they made something like the QT80 for 80m & 40m.

  • @ScatManAust
    @ScatManAust 3 месяца назад +2

If its anything like the AT-6666, it will be a ripper of a radio.
The only thing I don't like about it and is still the same here is the top row of buttons should have been on the bottom.
Not too bad to operate on the bench, but in the dash of a car it's a real pain trying to read and confirm commands.
My big fat scratchers block the screen as you try to change bands and modes and functions.
The main things you need to change on a regular basis are those top buttons.
80W compared to the std 60-65w is not much of a change and as I have the AT-6666, there's no discernable reason for me to upgrade.
Having said that if I never had the older version, I would snap one of these up.
Now what would be even better is if they upgrade the AT-5555N2 to this spec.
I have one of these too and it is just a little bigger and so much easier to see and operate.
Another REAL upgrade in my opinion would be having back lit buttons on all of their 10m radios but can't expect too much as the likes of Icom and others don't have back lit buttons even on their stuff including base units.
Great reception, great received transmissions and a good sounding speaker for abused and aged ears that for me at least is, better than most to cut through road noise.
I've heard from quite a few lucky people that have this radio already and can confirm they do sound great and general consensus among their owners is they are very happy with its performance.

I need a 10M transceiver that is different, not a redesigned very limited CB radio.
    I would like to have:
directly useable on digital modes with a USB or ethernet computer or network interface,
Use with a transverter, 10M IF and RF of 6M, 2M, 222 MHz 70cm, 33 cm, 23 cm, etc, etc.
direct frequency readout of the transverter RF, for either hi or low LO beat,
    forget the audio PA,
direct PTT output and input so I can add a sequencer to interface the transverter, IPA, PA and mast mounted preamplifier,
some way to fix the RF power output to no more than 10W,
stabilized internal LO synthesis to either an external reference frequency or 10 MHz, or may be an internal GPS
direct compatibility to a DB9 for use with M17 Module digital audio,
CW capability with a memory keyer,
state of the art third order intermodulation distortion (3OIMD) spec for better linearity,
The G106 with PC interface has more capability, for a lower price. IMHO.
No, I will not purchase one of these, nor will it appear on my wish list.....
    Tnx Stan
