Dude, love this video and I agree 💯% Louis is the only 1 I heard saying bad about the Iconic and I actually watched the video when he played it and could see he knew he was wrong about it but had to stick to his words. I personally don't have the 6L6 version but I do have the EL34 Iconic and it has more low end than I need. I absolutely love the amp. I watched a ton of videos before making my decision pretty much every video there was at the time. After watching Kyle Bull,Ola and yours I decided that it was a great amp and I am glad I did.

I think the point of this video went over some people’s heads. Jarrod doesn’t care that Louis doesn’t like the amp (apparently). What I gather is, Jarrod is calling out the fact that Louis has been two faced about it; talking shit about the amp before he had it, then private messages to Jarrod saying that he loved the way it sounded etc. And then to add to it, Louis has a channel where people go to it to review/get an opinion of a product and potentially spend money based on his word. How can you take someone serious who clearly doesn’t have integrity? Why would he say something completely different to Jarrod in a message and then completely reverse it in public? I understand Louis has been saying the amp is okay for 80s stuff and all that...but his thumbnails and clickbait titles show that he’s only doing what he’s doing because it gets views. Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen and 5150 are HUGE in the guitar world...those videos get tons of views because of obvious reasons. Anyways, I think people need a reality check. Jarrod did nothing wrong and is thankfully calling out the horseshit that people do. The Iconic isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. But have some fucking integrity on your opinion. It’s clear this Louis guy has a history of not standing with his opinions...especially if he gets something for free eventually.
When the Iconic came out I was on the fence if I liked it enough to get one or not and like everyone on here I went to RUclips for answers. The few videos I found sounded great and then I found Louis Torres and started getting doubts about the Iconic but even when he tried proving it sucked at Guitar Center I still thought it sounded pretty good. In an early video he ordered one and was soo excited about getting it then it's like a switch flipped and all of a sudden he hated it and canceled his order like something happened or maybe someone pissed him off or something. Once I found you and Ola England's videos I decided to pull the trigger and get one.

@@prometherion3089 I ended up getting it and I think it sounds better than my Marshall MX4x12 with V30's. So far I'm loving it. I really need to try it threw my home made 2x12 with V30's (based on a Mesa 2x12) that's been a really good cab for me so far.
The best way to decide what to buy is budget, sound, and use cases. Once they're sorted, go and try the gear out. Screw what anyone else thinks. Once it's in the mix nobody gives a shit what gear you're using anyway.

Things you got wrong imo : 1) room mics can also pick up low end 1,5) room mics are not a type of mic, it's a function (just like "close-miking)... You can use a 57 as a room mic, and you can close-mic your amp with your phone built-in mic if you want. 2) producers don't always only close mic, sometimes room mics are used (by themselves or in addition to close mics), even for guitar 3) producers close mic in the studio because it's a good tone for the mixer ... They don't care about guitar amp demos. 4) using "room mics" for amp demos is not that stupid, because some people want to know how the amp sounds in the room, because that's how they hear their gear in general. Not everyone hears a close-miked tone of their gear. My dad wouldn't know and has never heard how his favourite amp would sound close-miked with a 57. A 20 y.o who has always played with plugins knows the close-miked 57 sound but probably has never heard how a guitar cab sounds like a room. Some people like me are used to both (close-miked recorded tone, vs hearing an actual cab in the room) and know how each sounds like. For amp tone demos (when using a real cab), recording "in the room" sound makes as much sense as close-miking it imo. You just need to know how it was recorded to be able it to compare it to something you know. I think your 'in the room" clips in this video were as revealing of the amp tone as your close-miked clips. My 2 cents EDIT : with that being said, the Louis Torres 5150 iconic in the shop "review" was stupid indeed

I was on the fence about the Iconic and stumbled on his channel last week. Within 5 minutes, before he even started to hate on it I said to myself this guy is so full of himself. He's just a tool bag. Needless to say I bought the Iconic anyways, and so far so good. 👍
Some people like SS amps, some like Tubes amps, who cares!!! Some will like the iconic, some will not, so what??? I dont like ANY of the 5150 amps, again...who cares! I think I tried watching a few of his videos maybe a year ago and the sound quality sucked so bad I barely made it a minute into the guitar sound part of it and I clicked off that shit.. I was on the back-order list for the Iconic head and got my shipping notice about 3pm today,so probably Monday next week mine will be here..i am excited,no doubt about it ! Jarrod,your videos and a few others I watch,,thats it..and out of them to me yours are always the most thorough accurate representation of what or whichever amp..pedal..cab etc should sound like..so you always get the Big thumbs Up from me !
I just came across Louis Torres for the first time. It was a video of him shitting on the EVH Iconic amplifiers for almost 15 minutes straight. Wow! Talk about a first impression! It wasn't so much that he dislikes the Iconic, but more of the fact how incredibly immature and childish this man was. Guy is probably over 50 years old and acts like a little kid. I sincerely hope that he doesn't have a wife, because it must be absolute agony to live with a narcissistic sociopath like that. Wow!

I always thought I would be a mesa guy. Until I plugged into a EVH 5150 stealth 100. That amp can do any kind of playing style... But I was getting the meanest tones & loved it!!! Sorry I know I'm late to the party here. But that stealth 5150 was incredible

Negativity and fighting is something I could do less with on the internet. Honestly I watch all the videos and livestreams on this channel because there’s no fighting and everyone is friendly including Jarrod.
Best part is he pre ordered an Iconic after guys like Fluff and Kyle Bull talked about how it’s gonna sound good. Then EVH releases the office video and he instantly shits on the release video and how EVH is stupid for having the guitar player they had in the video. I don’t know how many videos of seen of him shitting on stuff then someone explains to him how to use it right and then he goes on about how it’s amazing.
I just found your channel this week and don’t understand why it took so long. Some of my recommended videos have been between 8 and 11 years old, so at least there’s that. But I digress, as a recent subscriber, I was honestly unaware of any “stuff” going on before. Personally, I have found value in some of the content from “other channels” that I’ve viewed or subscribe to, though I may not necessarily share the opinion of the creators, in general. Hopefully, a viewer’s interest will be piqued and they will do more research so they can make a better informed decision on anything, really. I learned in college that bad press is still essentially free advertising and gets it out there for others to use their due diligence to draw their own conclusions. For the most part, entertainment value alone will not keep most interested for long, but content that resonates will. This was the first of your videos, and liked how the topic was broached. I apparently need to catch up on a lot with your channel as well as some that you have mentioned. The time and effort invested definitely shows up in the quality and is something I appreciate.

Things you got wrong imo :
1) room mics can also pick up low end
1,5) room mics are not a type of mic, it's a function (just like "close-miking)... You can use a 57 as a room mic, and you can close-mic your amp with your phone built-in mic if you want.
2) producers don't always only close mic, sometimes room mics are used (by themselves or in addition to close mics), even for guitar
3) producers close mic in the studio because it's a good tone for the mixer ... They don't care about guitar amp demos.
4) using "room mics" for amp demos is not that stupid, because some people want to know how the amp sounds in the room, because that's how they hear their gear in general. Not everyone hears a close-miked tone of their gear.
My dad wouldn't know and has never heard how his favourite amp would sound close-miked with a 57. A 20 y.o who has always played with plugins knows the close-miked 57 sound but probably has never heard how a guitar cab sounds like a room. Some people like me are used to both (close-miked recorded tone, vs hearing an actual cab in the room) and know how each sounds like.
For amp tone demos (when using a real cab), recording "in the room" sound makes as much sense as close-miking it imo.
You just need to know how it was recorded to be able it to compare it to something you know.
I think your 'in the room" clips in this video were as revealing of the amp tone as your close-miked clips.

I think I tried watching a few of his videos maybe a year ago and the sound quality sucked so bad I barely made it a minute into the guitar sound part of it and I clicked off that shit..
I was on the back-order list for the Iconic head and got my shipping notice about 3pm today,so probably Monday next week mine will be here..i am excited,no doubt about it !
Jarrod,your videos and a few others I watch,,thats it..and out of them to me yours are always the most thorough accurate representation of what or whichever amp..pedal..cab etc should sound like..so you always get the Big thumbs Up from me !

I just came across Louis Torres for the first time. It was a video of him shitting on the EVH Iconic amplifiers for almost 15 minutes straight. Wow! Talk about a first impression! It wasn't so much that he dislikes the Iconic, but more of the fact how incredibly immature and childish this man was. Guy is probably over 50 years old and acts like a little kid. I sincerely hope that he doesn't have a wife, because it must be absolute agony to live with a narcissistic sociopath like that. Wow!

It was on a Ceriatone amp and I commented I had one on order. He was actually very cool with me, so I subscribed. Then I went back and started watching some of his other videos. I started thinking “hmm....he was cool with me, (a nobody on RUclips) but he’s acting like a bit of a loud mouth putz to other people. I guess I misjudged him. I thought he was cool at first”. I always thought I would be a mesa guy. Until I plugged into a EVH 5150 stealth 100. That amp can do any kind of playing style... But I was getting the meanest tones & loved it!!! Sorry I know I'm late to the party here. But that stealth 5150 was incredible

His credibility became questionable for me when he tried a couple of years ago to use the MXR 5150 pedal as an overdrive.. yes, as in an SD-1, not a distortion pedal. But yeah, breaking the gear? I was like 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️

That dude unfortunately popped up when I was first tried to find info on the iconic and I was amazed on how negative this dude was toward a product he hadn’t even heard… then he popped again with that in store review which started negative and then who puts a pedal in front of an amp that you’re trying to test out and play the same two chord progression and fiddling thru the channels and all the specs that dudes a douchebag
I was subscribed to his channel like a year ago. Was unsubscribed within a month. He’s so negative and egotistical. I have enough problem on my own with negativity I don’t need to be absorbing it in my happy place.

Best part is he pre ordered an Iconic after guys like Fluff and Kyle Bull talked about how it’s gonna sound good. Then EVH releases the office video and he instantly shits on the release video and how EVH is stupid for having the guitar player they had in the video. I don’t know how many videos of seen of him shitting on stuff then someone explains to him how to use it right and then he goes on about how it’s amazing.
I just found your channel this week and don’t understand why it took so long. Some of my recommended videos have been between 8 and 11 years old, so at least there’s that. But I digress, as a recent subscriber, I was honestly unaware of any “stuff” going on before. Personally, I have found value in some of the content from “other channels” that I’ve viewed or subscribe to, though I may not necessarily share the opinion of the creators, in general. Hopefully, a viewer’s interest will be piqued and they will do more research so they can make a better informed decision on anything, really. I learned in college that bad press is still essentially free advertising and gets it out there for others to use their due diligence to draw their own conclusions. For the most part, entertainment value alone will not keep most interested for long, but content that resonates will. This was the first of your videos, and liked how the topic was broached. I apparently need to catch up on a lot with your channel as well as some that you have mentioned. The time and effort invested definitely shows up in the quality and is something I appreciate.

I asked the question about the synergy amps deal, I thought I had it wrong, I remembered a pre amp he blew up about but couldnt find the video, 13 days ago I asked on one of his pre amp videos "What was the pre amp brand you were having issues with a while back that you said you would never use again because you were super pissed off with them? Cant seem to find the video, was it deleted?" Didnt get a response... I think it is a habit of his to upload one or two 10 minute videos a day and delete them if they dont do well...
