This is one of my all time favorite movies EVER. I'm about to turn 41 and my dad had it on VHS when I was a kid and I watched it non-stop, I can probably quote the entire thing. In retrospect, It might not have been the best movie for a kid to watch, but my parent's were always really cool about letting me watch whatever movies I wanted growing up. Announcer Harry Doyle was played by Bob Uecker, as previously noted by others. He turned a mediocre baseball career with the Braves, Cardinals, and Phillies into a career as self-depreciating comedian. He was on the Tonight Show 100 times- Johnny Carson gave him his nickname, “Mr. Baseball”. His lifetime batting average of .200 was outweighed by his defensive strengths as a catcher.
He began announcing for the Milwaukee Brewers (Ueke was born in Milwaukee) in 1971 and is still calling games. He’s very knowledgeable about the game, has plenty of anecdotes to tell when things get slow, and is just as funny as ever. He’s in the Hall of Fame as a broadcaster- find the RUclips video of his acceptance speech, it alone would be worth a reaction video!
BTW, Major League was shot at the old Milwaukee County Stadium, so Ueke was right at home.

James Gammon, of the unmistakable gravelly voice, was Lou. He was one of my favorite supporting actors, always playing someone of reassuring calm and unshakable common sense - he's also in "Milagro Bean Field War".
The pitcher you recognized was Charlie Sheen.
I was surprised you didn't know Wesley Snipes as Willie Mays Hayes, but that was him.
Cerrano was the wonderful Dennis Haysbert, who, in addition to making a series of popular insurance commercials, was the President in the tv series "24".
The title song was by Randy Newman, very popular at the time, and capable of composing songs from deep, quiet melancholy to wicked, tongue-in-cheek mockery. The song is actually about a terrible fire in the Cuyahoga River, caused by pollution.
A story I end up telling every time I watch a reaction to this fun movie: I first watched this movie with my brother, who was helping me learn about baseball. When Taylor calls his shot and makes his move, I asked my brother if he could really do that. "Yes," he replied. "But only once."

    10:12 - "555- . . . We all know that's bad, the 555 goes nowhere."
TV shows and movies use 555- for phone numbers precisely because they DO go nowhere.
Phone companies actually reserve fictitious 555 numbers for that purpose.

Tom Berenger (Taylor) starred in a western spoof called Rustler's Rhapsody. It's a really funny parody that doesn't get the attention it deserves because it's doomed to languish in the shadow of Blazing Saddles.

springtime in cleveland is outstanding. falls are very nice too, as it's very green for a city, and it goes orange and red and brown (our sports colors). summer is too hot and sticky, and the mosquitoes are nasty. winter is damn near unbearable. not great weather overall. not enough sunlight. but springs are nice. people are so starved for sunlight that the whole place parties in spring.

James, if you want to watch another great baseball movie, you should watch 1993's The Sandlot. It is about kids playing the game not pros but it is a great heartfelt film about my baseball is a beautiful game. I also suggest the 1976 film The Bad News Bears, also about kids in the game. Both films are part of a series but the best film in both franchises is the 1st one IMHO.

@AwesomeUSMovies OK, I thought I remembered that you had watched The Sandlot but as you didn't refer to it in your intro, I thought that I may have remembered incorrectly. Major League has 2 sequels you could watch. Part 2 is the better of the 2 but the 3rd one is not too bad but it pretty much has none of the original characters in it.

This is my favorite baseball movie!
    Other great baseball movies:
    The Scout (1994)
A League of Their Own (1992)
    Moneyball (2011)
    The Babe (1992)
    The Comrades of Summer (1992)
    42 (2013)
    The Rookie (2002)
Major League 2 (1994) (Good enough to watch and enjoy but a large step down from the first film.)
Baseball movies that are also Family films... be great to watch with your grandchildren when the get to be about 9 ot 10 years old: 😊
    Rookie of the Year (1993)
    Little Big League (1994)
    Angels in the Outfield (1994)
The Sandlot (1993) (But you saw this one too, though, yes? It's a family film but it definitely counts as a baseball movie too! A wonderful one!)
*Lots* of great baseball movies between 1992 - 1994! We needed them because in 1994 we had no World Series! In October 1994 we went to the movies and saw *The Scout* and that's all the baseball we got!
I don't think the brilliance of *The Scout* is talked about nearly enough. It's my second favorite baseballs movie! It's funny, it's heartening, it's therapeutic to the soul. It stars Brenden Fraser and yes, he's awesome in all his movies but between this movie and *School Ties,* ...I believe these are the movies that for those of us who loved Fraser since back in the day made us see the caliber of actor he is that the Academy and the rest of the award shows finally saw this year!
I think *The Babe* is a seriously misunderstood film. It got a lot of criticism for being so historically inaccurate. But the director _wasn't going for_ accuracy. He was out to tell the _Legend_ of Babe Ruth. He was making an American tall tale story. He was telling a story to fit in with the tales of John Henry, Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, and Pecos Bill! All actual history was in the movie for reference only. Accept the movie like that and I think you will really love it!
    Best Regards!

Wild Thing (Charlie Sheen) is also in a true story b-ball movie called 8 Men Out. About the 1919 White Sox that gamblers paid to lose. Another 1 you'd like is Bull Durham, it's about life in the minor league. At the very least make your nephew watch that 1

It's "spring training", not "spring break". Baseball players go to spring training to get in shape for the upcoming season. College kids go on spring break to drink, have sex, and sometimes semi-destroy Florida beaches and towns. Big difference; work vs play.
