So this album made you cry and we didn’t get a reaction? Wow
He probably recorded it and didn't wanna post it lol
wordddddddd
Grown men cry brah!!
fuck you dann
Yo stfu. He is not entitled to do so.
The outro on prom/king where he said just another day in the ghetto was a sample of Walter's music
That didnt help at all😖😖- spongebob
yeah man .. Walt was really gonna be big ! RIP !
PROM/KING is definitely one of the highlights on this album.
Just Drayson top 5 song this year imo
Literally every song on the album is a highlight lmao I love every songs on this album
That song gave me some Kendrick storytelling vibes.
@@shaanraval5374 it had nothing in common, it’s just great story telling
Yess
This man Saba is super underrated in my opinion.
hes so slept on
broken girls constantly gets to me, man
Will C. Really, I’m broke myself, but I think she might help
that song reminds me of a ex
@@thomascatty379 really i love a story and i think she might help
I'm always surprised that people didn't like Bucket List Project, that is easily one of my favourite records from the past few years
pool0g I know right, It wasn’t exactly a genius project but it had so many good flows, beats, and bangers
Bucket List Project was amazing. Listened to it for months and still do.
I absolutely LOVE Bucket List.
wydm? people dont 'dislike' it. It was great and got great reviews
Comatose Reviews same
9.8/10 imo
I’m in love with broken giiiiiiiiirlsssss
Specialegend that shit hit home
Specialegend really I’m broke myself but I think she might help
Thomas CATTY really I love a story, and I think she might tell
@@ceejdoesdizzle Really I'm not your crutch, really you're not my girl. Really she's using me, but it's cool we use each other
@@4our6ixkwvmz I'm in love with contemplating 'bout the pressure
Still can't believe melon gave this a meh/10.
it still gets to me
Melon sounds pretty stupid to me if that’s the rate he gave
This album isn't terrible, but its pretty boring
@@bigblackhawk7176 nahh you trippin
Desiigner git git thrahhh L
PROM/KING was fucking incredible
Damn it made you cry!?! Bust out the bubble bath and the wine I’m bout to listen tonight LOL
Chiemeri it’s sooooo good
Shout out from Nigeria
John Igomu ogah greetings my broda, Ghana boy in the da house now.
Big Cheach wait, so how’d it go???
Luda Chris id like to know too
My boy Shawn >>>>>>fantano
Agreed. Fantano let me down on this one.
holy hell yea
Facts
Elliott Smith is not really that great to me. I know I'm going to get grilled for this but its a little bit TOO mopey/pitiful for me. I kind of prefer this album, probably because its rap but still.
Don't get me wrong it's not the greatest of all time, but it's a phenomenal project and I think fantano leaned to hard on 'copying from his contemporaries' argument and was going out his way to find criticisms where there were none.
Calligraphy went from one of my least favorite tracks in the album to being one of favorites. It took me a few listens as well to truly appreciate that track and I can't get enough of it now
my fav off the project
My favorite album of 2018 so far. Although today’s probably the last day I can say that lol.
Cole world lol
Still my favourite
I always play this album on repeat lol
Don't worry it was album of the year
WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE BROKEN GIRLS...THATS MY FAVE TRACK😭
Good User, M.a.a.d Internet I hate it too tbh, it’s just repetitive
Good User, M.a.a.d Internet I fucking love that track
I think it’s one of those songs you’d only like if you can relate to it
Good User, M.a.a.d Internet I love it also but I’d say it’s because the beat and his voice sounds a lot like Mick Jenkins. And it really does. And the chorus isn’t that amazing. It’s jumpy.
Good User, M.a.a.d Internet lol it’s too reflective of ppl n we don’t wanna admit the attraction to broken ppl
hopefully this is better than that damn melons review
Dwyn it is
melon isnt credible
Should i watch melons review?
Thresh main i think he gave it like a 4/10
Dwyn OUCH!
honestly i can see why a lot of people disliked broken girls and i understand its not the strongest cut, but it was just sooo fuckin relatable that i couldn't help but spin it on repeat. like, scarily accurate.
Haven’t heard anyone bring up Mick Jenkins or Smino. So genuine thanks for those
Better than The Needle Drops review 👍🏾
“Worst song - broken girls” how could you come to that conclusion
Malik Jackson because it is, aside from logout
Weirdly I skipped that track often, but the more you really listen it becomes a favorite. It grew on me after a long time. I know of people that been in that situation also, myself included as a teen so I can feel what he sayin on that track.
Malik Jackson I love that song to death
This album will be underrated just watch
november 2020, still doesn’t get the recognition it deserves :/
December 2020: still not recognized enough
2021 January still not enough recognition
April 2021, vinyl sold out in 3 seconds online, more recognition but still underrated
@Gravy Talks Music frrrr
Never clicked so fast
Just listened it for the first time this week and it’s been on repeat. I’ve become obsessed with Chicago rap in building excitement for the big day which just makes me really sad, but now I know that Saba can deliver that raw and emotional storytelling- similar to that of good kid and some of jay rocks stuff. Thanks for being real about your reactions though, I often get emotional when listening to music, I always try to imagine myself in something they are speaking about. And as a white 18 year old listening to Prom King I actually started crying, because the contrast between the events in Sabas prom and my prom are completely opposite. I think the raw and graphic lyricism can really do something for white population, a lot of people I know just don’t care and assume any black kid in Chicago is a gangster by choice and all that, but this track kind of revealed to me that this I a real problem and it breaks my heart. Anyways I love your content haha
I still feel this way, I can’t say I understand Rap music but I’ve always thought about the words as if the artist was talking to me - I don’t understand murder and drug problems on a personal level but I still understand the importance and sadness behind them. I’ve never just vibed to lyrical rappers - I see it as a story, art of peer pressure still gives me the chills when it cuts to the simulated audio of them realizing there is someone in the house. - I understand that feeling but not the direct experience. I think more people should take time and really chew on the lyrics in rap music - instead of mindlessly listening - the carti mindset shouldn’t transfer over to kendricks and Gibbs or this album for example. This is all in response to your most recent video btw
I read your whole comment and I wanna say, I’m glad you choose to consume music and not let it make a bad perspective on people, and better yet, you use it to see more faults in our society.
Prom/King hits really hard for me because I actually met John Walt at the sold out Lincoln Hall show. He was an awsome guy and it was just so shocking seeing his name in the headlines awhile later. #longlivejohnwalt
PROM/KING is one of the best rap songs of the 2010s imo
But I wanted to see some Shawn Cee tears
The review we needed but not the one deserved
Damn I love this album.
love this album best album out so far this year
Marceon Jacobs What about now?
Blackanesian must be referring to KOD 😂 this is now the second best album out this year
Marceon Jacobs As expected😁
Lucalite this is true I'm a cole fan but I can't deny saba made an amazing album I'm now a fan mad I just came across dude last week
Better than J cole KOD. Fight me if you disagree
Coach Pettigrew Arguable. It's up there, though.
completely different concept albums, both way more lyrical and thought provoking than most of the hip hop out today
CARE FOR ME is more listenable but KOD is more lyrically charged. Both are fantastic though
i agree 100%
Tbh KOD is basically DAMN but cole's version.
I actually really like Broken Girls a whole lot. Idk, you have your opinion and all, but shit is it good to me
Busy is my favorite song rn
Braeden Myrick
I'm obsessed with the Siren's hook
2:17 voice crack
thank me later
Care for Me is the best rap album of the year so far! 🔥 I literally love every song. Smile is just my least favorite, but I still love it! 10/10 for me personally
Prom/King😭😭😭😭💧💧💧
Who else came here after his best songs of 2018
This album gets better every listen. Saba has such a niche sound and his storytelling is on another level... The instrumental sets the mood for the story, the concept carries out through the project, the lyrics keep blowing my mind as I reflect on them more and more. He definitely put a lot of love into this. Then the delivery... He's doing some things sonically that just sell the vibe of this album for me... Great masterpiece. I think this is my favorite album I've listened to from 2018 now...
Prom/ King game me CHILLS and GOOSEBUMPS. And I had the same reaction to Heaven All Around me as I did to Jocelyn Flores. Tears. I fux with it.
Who else thinks he should react to smino
LJH JMS hes heard smino
Not after he said Smino "dabbles in the Hip-House sound." If he really related Goldlink's and Smino's sounds and styles, then this dude has no idea what he's saying.
8 months later and prom/king is still the best song on the album
Really hope Saba gets more recognition after this. I'm glad I can say I listened to it on day 1. Really a beautiful album.
I like how in the description it says to have a great day even though I have 15 minutes left of my day.
bro i was so bummed when i saw this was just a review but thank god cuz you caught so many details that i didnt even realize and now i love the album even more. all love. bless shawn 🙏🏼
Bucket list was a very good album in my opinion
I know it’s really out of the blue, but there’s something about Grey that I just love. It’s one of my favorite songs for no other reason than it sounds nice
My fav song is Calligraphy but i recently fell in luv with grey after re-listening the album
Love the ending
Blessings. You know I've been waiting for this
Video - 8/10
Description - 9/10
Bro what
prom / king hit me hard when he had the i hate chicago line
Saba is a genius, amazing album.
wow man you've come so far in sucha short time, remember when you just discovered XXXTENTACION and you barely had 10k subscribers. bless up man!
Anybody else ready for K.O.D tomorrow???
Can't Wait!!!!!!!!!
Or tonight at 9pm #westcoast
Tonight
MTM Entertainment IM READY FOR KOD IN AN HOUR
Josh Ferguson I’m planning on posting a reaction vid tomorrow for it
This gotta be one of my favorite rap albums of all time, and I don’t say that lightly.
I'll never understand the dislike on the bucket list project. one of my favorite albums I've possibly ever listened to. wasn't the greatest album of all time, but i'm surprised to hear you and others saying how they felt underwhelmed.
An 8!!! I honestly thought you would hate this because you didn't like Bucket List but glad you enjoyed it. Fantano buried this album in his review but yeah glad you loves it plus the way you explained the album made me wanna revisit it to find all the details I missed. Thank you for reviewing this it gave me all the confirmation to go back because I didn't think it was bad but it didn't blow me away either.
Jeremy Diesel
Fantano is very hit or miss with some of his reviews.
You open up my eyes to music. Thank you.
I agree when you say "The tracks don't lead into one another that well" but I don't think it needs to. I think that's a lot of people's definition of cohesion when I don't think that should be the case IMO at least.
10/10 after 2 years
Broken girls hits home man😔😔😔
I don't cry but this brought me heavy feelings
fucking fork same man I only ever cry when someone close to me dies and this album changed that for me
Heaven all around me made me tear up man, this album was so good.
Nobody else is saying anything about this song. Soooo good
Who here after he just released another classic?
Yeah exactly I definitely heard some kendrick's TPABF and GKMC kinda vibe on this album. Amazing. I'd give it 10/10.
After watching fantonos review this is a step forward
Smino is from St. Louis not Chicago.
Zech C he lived there for a minute, though
right when i heard the chorus for smile, i cried, i think of it as he wants to always be smiling and happy and he sees everyone smiling and happy and he tries he really does but he can’t do it, that’s exactly how i feel
PROM/KING is easily my favorite song of 2018
i started listening to rap about two years ago but i never listened to it much. i was listening to nothing in particular when i heard stoney, i absolutely fell in love with the song so i listened to all of bucket list project and it was fucking great. i was so pumped for care for me to come out and i was blown away, grey is such a good song, and so is prom king. saba got me so into rap i’m very glad i heard stoney
YEEZY SEASON APPROACHING!
FACTSSSSSS
Damn finally Saba dope he deserves hella attention
I’ve heard this album numerous times and after hearing Shawn explain it over a year later, he’s opened up even more points from the album I missed🤦🏾♂️😂🖤
Finally. I was waiting for this!!!!
Buuuttt I don't have a problem with the review because you had time to listen to some tracks again. Good videos as always.
Love your video. Great work
worst track- BROKEN GIRLS ?!?!?!?! im going insane that's my fav
Anyone else staying up all night to listen to cole as soon as it drops?
I punched a cat once YESSIR
Life was the best song easily
prom/king is one of the few songs that has really affected me, its there with ross cappichioni and under pressure
Travis Lathangue Under Pressure 🙌🏼 IMO Prom / King & UP are above Ross because Ross is more pure story telling and Prom / King and UP take you through such a roller coaster of emotions. UP & P/K are both more well rounded masterpieces, but Ross lyrically and story telling wise was absolutely amazing.
To be very honest. LIFE was the reason I found Saba in the first place, but I feel like it was the worst on the album. It does have alot of lyrics that adds to the album but it doesn't fit the overall album. Every other song is very soft, piano and all that. The closest to the pace of LIFE was the second part of PROM/KING. But the hard hitting bass of LIFE just to me goes off track. Its still a very good song though, just doesn't fit the vibe of the album
Hook was weak though
AYE LETS GO....bout time you caught the wave shawn
One of the best albums of all time
You'll really only feel Broken Girls if you can relate to it.
Great review. What an album
Missing Nike tee and no reaction with the review 😰. Dark times are ahead
I wasn’t really obsessed with this project, but I do catch myself keep going back to Life & Busy/Sirens.
He put a 9/10 in the description
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME
thanks again and happy new car for sale in there
Shawn cee and blackyspeakz collab coming soon in my depressing Imagination oh boy I can't wait
LIFE is so fucking fire
It’s really annoying to me when people compare Chicago rappers to chance when the last time chance put out a group project was four years ago. This dude is been doing charity and where in the three hat since he needs to stop. This is coming from a dude from Chicago that knows the scene.
Drop the deluxe reaction with you crying. We need that shit.
Who came from melon after being really disappointed with his review
7-8/10 sounds like the perfect score for this. Ain't anything amazing but definitely a great listen.
J Glo nah, only amazing
You crazy this album was incredible
You mean 10/10
DO THE KANYE ALBUM REVIEW WHEN IT DROPS
Jahseh goes without saying
clearly
SMILE is probably my favourite track off the album....
Everybody waiting for KOD, camon, we want it
the end of broken girls makes the track entirely worth it
i love this album so much it keeps making me sad
Not really a worst song on here but least favorite probably Broken Girls
First lol nice vid btw
YouAreMySunshine by Flatbush zombies is the one song that makes me cry every time I hear it I feel you Shawn
Do the "Forever M.C." album
This is what fantano should have done
