Two really important or rather on subject details with Prom/King that I’m sure you know, but for anyone watching who might not know…the person singing at the end of Prom/King: “I just hope I’ll make it to tomorrow” is Walt himself. In itself, that’s probably the heaviest part of the song for me at least. The second, while obviously you can’t per se predict these things…the “hatred” for Chicago and that “any moment paranoia” really stings when his Aunt calls and asks “Hello Malik(Saba) have you or Squeak talked to my son today?” and the hindsight now that Squeak was also just killed in August of last year, which really just stings. This album is great, and whether it’s a good thing or bad thing…it’ll never be dated. Great video 🤍 glad Dad enjoyed
Most of Saba work is lofi hip hop his choice of beats and mixes are lofi beats he's so amazing and really makes you think and reflect the message he portrays
@@galexusan3293 hes a lot more lofi than jazz with the textures of the drums and chords if you would compare him to mick jenkins or isaiah rashad or other rappers who are more jazzy
This the only album that gives me the same feeling as good kid maad city, that level of immersion into the story and feeling the emotion he's expressing
This album has so many clever and insightful lines but for some reason the part that I'm always reminded of is the bit on LOGOUT where he raps "everybody's insecure / especially people with everything / why do you think they got everything / how do you think they got everything". Every line in that gets like one layer deeper into why we are so desperate for things and money and attention and likes and followers, and how especially the people who we consider "successful" in a traditional sense are in a way products of their insecurities.
We both started tearing up at the same time after prom/king. The older one gets the more this album resonates. Thank you so much for providing this reaction of your father and giving insight. Would love to see a reaction to Saba’s 3rd album!
i didn't even feel like giving Saba a Chance till a friend said. "its better than Friday night lights" then he caught my attention and i can say its in that tier 100%
I found saba from a YT add haha. I almost didn't even listen to his music but then the add kept playing and i was like "damn this is kind of good" then i checked out the album and was like holy shit
Yay I’m SO happy y’all did this album!! I was so nervous at the beginning pops wasn’t gonna like this album. Am begging for few good things with pops. 🙌🏽 There was such a shortage of reactions for it and it’s so beautiful and I think your dad would love the instrumentation.
Saba is my cousin on my moms side this album was a very powerful moment to all of are family especially when we lost Walt I knew Walt more than Saba because when I was younger I saw Walt way more and he was like a big brother figure to me. Walt was an very funny, kind, loving, talented, and protective individual and had so much talent ahead of him and Saba,Walt, Joseph Chilliams that are some of the members in the pivot gang group are my cousins and they inspired me to rap as well.
Love this album so much, a sleeper hit along with most of SABA's work and I'd love to see you guys explore more of his discography or even branch out into the other names of the Midwest(Smino, Noname, etc)
I love how y’all are experiencing different sub genres of hip hop and as y’all go deeper into these different styles y’all should eventually listen to BROCKHAMPTON they’re my fav of all time
I just found your channel and i cant believe this reaction is here my fave album of all timee just watched the forever story video keep it up i fw the vids brodie
It will be great to have y'all react to his new album "Few Good Things." It's similar to both this and J. Cole's "4 Your Eyez Only." Has some very heavy lines such as this album does. Would love to see it.
I wanted to suggest a new album for you to react to. Jockstrap - I love you Jennifer B. It's a electro/pop music duo and the female vocalist is actually Georgia Ellery, the violinist from Black country, New road. Look into it if you haven't heard it yet. I think it would be a great album to show your dad. Ps. It's kinda really hard to label the duo. But experimental pop is definitely one I would use. I love music you can't really pin down
@@putyouon yesss!! I bet you been slacking on the needle drop cause your busy with this bussin channel lol. Idk if you even watch his vids but I find a lot from him! Thanks for responding. Hope y'all get a chance to check it out!
Such an amazing album, front to back. No skips.
Zero Skips , i wonder why mainstream never caught onto this especially "Broken Girls" thats can work on mainstream media
Agreed, I knew Saba had it in him but this album really blew me away!
PROM/KING is easily one of my favorite tracks of all time
His tiny desk is IMMACULATE. Truly made me fall in love with him and his art

Any other artists with similar style you'd recommend?
I’d argue it’s not lofi hip hop, and instead hip hop jazz

this album is so good and i’m happy mike came in with an open mind. he wasn’t quick to judge at the start since it’s a new sound. love that
just saw this. holy shit. so glad saba’s getting recognition. rip walt 🫡
Saba is amazing. He deserves more recognition
Damn after app the times I've listened to this album I've never realized Heaven all around me was in his cousins perspective, blew my mind too.

Great vid! Can't wait to see if you put your dad onto Few Good Things! That's one of my favorite albums this year!
i think dad would totally enjoy Aquemini by Outkast
the end of the song is actually walter singing;/ so sad yet a beautiful homage to his best friend.
His dad’s face when he realizes that Saba was rapping from Walt’s perspective: priceless. That was all of us, bro. 😢
