    Where I live, we have mainly Puerto Rican and or Dominican Hispanic people and very few Colombians I wish there were more Colombians to learn from in person because Colombian Spanish is the best !

    Maravilloso! Me amo esos ejemplos! Las situaciones tan cercanos a la vida! Una pregunta, esos frases son popular no solo en Colombia, verdad?

    • @SpanishlandSchool
      @SpanishlandSchool  7 лет назад

      Andrey *Amo esos ejemplos* No necesitas usar *me* :)
      Realmente todas estas expresiones son de Colombia pero si hay algunas que puedes escuchar en otros paises de Latinoamerica como: Bacano y Chevere. Las dos son muy comunes en Venezuela y la palabra chevere es usada en Argentina tambien.

    Is it more common to speak in usted to people you know in Colombia!? I have friends that studied abroad in Spain that were so shocked to see how many people used tú during a first encounter. I find this very interesting.

    • @SpanishlandSchool
      @SpanishlandSchool  7 лет назад +9

      Hola +v0calbeatzlaughs!! Thanks for asking! In Colombia people use both, TU and USTED. The general rule is that you use Usted in more formal contexts and Tu with your friends and family, which is an informal context but in Colombia it really depends on the region and city that you go to. If you go to the coast for example, all of them will use Tu when talking to you (a foreign person) and it is not because it is formal or informal, it's just because they only use "tu" with everybody. But in Bogota, Bucaramanga, Medellin, Cali and other cities people use both. But don't worry about it, it's ok if you only use Tu with everybody here, we all are friendly so "Tu" is fine.

    • @TonyTK1
      @TonyTK1 7 лет назад +1

      What about when to use Vos or Tu? I know that in Medellin and Cali the people use Vos. When would I use Vos instead of Tu?

    • @SpanishlandSchool
      @SpanishlandSchool  7 лет назад +1

      +TonyTK1 Gracias por preguntar. Well it's not that there are specific contexts where you are supposed to use either "Vos" or "Tu". It's just that in Medellin, Cali and other small cities and towns people say "Vos" all the time. It's their dialect. However, there are some few people that say "Tu". But don't worry about that, it's fine if you as a foreign person say just "Tu" all the time. People don't expect you to use "Vos" :)

    • @Makeupchic777

    My wife was born in Colombia, raised in Venezuela. She says that saying "Para me bolas" is asking for trouble. It is a very rude way to address a person. Opinion?

    • @SpanishlandSchool
      @SpanishlandSchool  4 года назад +5

      Hi! This expression is very informal and common in Colombia, and it is not rude. People say it very often. It might have a rude meaning in Venezuela. The expressions in this video are purely Colombian :)

      @@SpanishlandSchool you are awesome for real. I am so glad I stumbled across your channel. You have no idea. You speak so clearly and enunciate your words so clearly. You are a blessing. I just got back from Colombia a few days ago; Medellin. Man I love your country. I currently live in Costa Rica and plan to do so for the next 10 years. They of course speak Spanish here but man do they speak horrible in the local beach towns. In Medellin they speak so beautifully. Well I hope your channel is successful and I look forward to learning with you guys! I already speak Spanish but it's lacking.
