I gotta say that I was really excited about your Colombian accents interpretation. That makes me feel so glad because you learnt our language and you know how to distinguish Colombian accents. Here in Colombia there are several different accents. It's tremendously crazy. Even people have many expressions in order to refer to different things. I'm cachaco anda it was way too funny the way you tried to immitate that accent. That makes me feel happy and proud.
You're right about that coastal accent -I thought I had a decent grasp on Spanish, spent almost 3 months all over Colombia, then was in the Santa Marta bus station and didn't understand anything anyone said.
This is so funny because all of my Colombian friends from Medellin literally switch between usted , tu, and vos with me during the same conversation!! jajaja and that was new for me and I had to get used to it
You Ricky, you should really reach out to perolike (Latino/Hispanic buzzfeed channel) and see if u could be a member of them. You would fit in really well. Even if you don’t join you should make a video with them.

I came here from your "Why I changed my Accent vid" I've lived all my life in a small american town, but my Parents are from Colombia, and I just LOVE everything about the land! SO excited that you uploaded this! :D
The Caleño accent was pretty good, I liked that you showed that we use mainly "vos" and I want to thank you for this video because a lot of people think there's only one colombian accent and I've never seen a foreigner learn a colombian accent before
Daniel Rojas Ruiz I did learn Caleño accent because my ex boyfriend was from there (well actually he is Bugeño but nevermind) but now after he broke up with me i changed to the spaniard accent. Because I am more often in Spain because it’s nearer to Italy where I am from.
I have a professor from Colombia this semester... He speaks with the softest b/v and d sounds even in English. He says public as puwlic. And, like "to do that", he would say "to 'o THAT", instead of what we normally hear people say "to DO that". Such a warm and gentle accent...

Yes Spanish has so many differences depending on where it is spoken. Glad I can help. Have you ever tried to speak Dominican Spanish to them? How did that work out?
This explains a lot. I was watching Narcos and trying to challenge myself to not use the subtitles as much as I could, and I thought I was losing my mind hearing certain sounds just get omitted altogether, lol. Thanks!
I forwarded your video to a friend who is dating a Columbian girl. Your video on speaking like a Spaniard was so helpful to me that I knew he would be grateful. ¡Gracias profesor!
Good video, but you have to be more specific when you mention "coast." Remember. Colombia has two coasts. The Caribbean and the Pacific. Both regions have their own accents and cultural traits. I want to say that you give me inspiration. I'm currently in the intermediate phase as a Spanish learner. I'm fighting to move over that hurdle.
Hello whoever you are (I found this video in suggestions xD) I am very, very happy, because I know the first person learned the Bogota accent, most foreigners learn the Paisa accent, but I think the Bogota accent (sorry if it doesn't apply to you) the Bogota accent is easier to understand. I appreciate that you, my foreigners, learn Spanish, I know it is not easy because I know it, but it is a pride for me that you learn it and of course I am learning English and Italian. I am a native of Bogotá. Thanks you, a very soft hug.
Muchisimo Gracias !!! This video is an excellent teaching tool for learning the Colombian Spanish dialect. I have been trying to decipher the pronunciation for more than 5 yrs. This video has provided me with a much needed light into the speaking patterns and pronunciations. Also the explanations and highlights on the specific letter pronunciations was on point and much needed for anyone who wishes to speak and understand the differences in the Colombian dialecto. Two Thumbs up and high praise on this video. I hope you will continue to make more on the Paisa sayings and phrases.
Here in the pastuso accent occurs somethigcurious: instead of softing consonants as you said in almost all accents (adotiwo, relajao, etc), we soft vowels, as we sometimes say: nosotrs, grass (that´s a gracias, but we elong the S of the C and the S), stamos, etc. But we always pronounce S, D, we don't soft the B and V and sometimes there's also dinsctintion of Y and LL. Really helpful. I’m a New Yorker with family from Costa Rica and Panama (y Cuba pero no les hablo tanto). I do bilingual workshops with mostly Dominicans (predominant in NYC along with Puerto Ricans). I also unconsciously imitate the accent of whoever I’m talking to. You break it down so I now can understand why I switch up. I’m also partly school taught but mostly self taught through grabaciones, tapes and records (I’m carbon dating myself), good textbooks and talking to people every chance I get. I recently ,met a sister from Panama so we do a lot of Spanglish, which happens when you are seamlessly thinking in both languages at once. My boyfriend's Dominican but speaks with a Colombian accent. He gets mad when I tell him to spell the words he's trying to teach me instead of trying to make me sound it out after him because he literally does not pronounce them the way they're written and assumes I'm supposed to hear that through his and his parents' thick accents 😭 For instance I learned miedo from him the other day, but I spoke it back to him as mieno/meno because of the soft 'd' and he goes, "where do you hear an 'n'?" While refusing to spell it out and becoming frustrated that I'm repeating to him EXACTLY what I'm hearing from his mouth 😭

I was born in Stamford but my whole family is Colombian and I’m going to visit my family in bogota and Villavicencio and my mom says I have to start talking in a Colombian accent
I loooooooove the Colombia accent, it’s soft and very slow, you can flow with it. I’m Nigerian American, I love Spanish movies and they’ve helped me know so many Spanish words, pablo escobar gaviran is and was my best, el señor de los cielos was amazing too, I finished everything, I can actually pick out some points from this video, like Ahora mismo ( I’ve heard it tons of times from escobar), but I didn’t even know there’s another way of saying it. Quick question though, is there any other Colombia movie I should see ??. On Netflix !!. I saw that Amar y Vivir, I wish to visit Colombia after this madness called coronavirus pandemic, beautiful people, sexy Spanish, beautiful country
After you visit Colombia but you should visit Santa Marta and after that you should visit Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panamá, they are beautiful countries so maybe you should visit them one by one when you have the chance
Hey John! Sooo happy to hear you wanna visit Colombia :D It's an amazing country. I first wanna say that shows about Pablo Escobar/drug trafficking, etc, show a very sad side of Colombian History, but it is a time period that we have fortunately overcome, and these shows do not represent the current reality of this amazing country any longer. I would recommend you other kind of shows like Ugly Betty (of course, the original version, which is Colombian), El Secretario, la Ley del Corazón, etc. All of these are telenovela-like shows. I also like very much a show called "La Niña" and it shows the story of a girl who became involved, unfairly, in Colombia's armed internal conflict. This issue is also getting better, however I recommend the show because it is a beautiful story and I believe it will help you learn Spanish. I can also recommend you some movies! But this comment is long enough. You are more than welcome to visit Colombia 🇨🇴 of course, after this virus is over!
I wonder how many people are here to learn spanish, a lot of us are here just because we want to hear you talk about our countries haha. Anyway, keep it up!
I would love to see the Venezuelan accent. I know like Colombia different regions have different accents so it’d be interesting to see! Either that or Chilean which ya tú sabes es a beast of its own jaja.
Since no one mentioned it: "It's freaky how that accent travels" yeah that's the legacy of the Slave Trade. The enslaved Africans not only shifted the food, economies, appearance & art/music/dance of LAm countries, they heavily influenced how Spanish is spoken! For you to have left that out does a disservice since you help educate AND you're a lover of this speaking style so you recognize the flavor! For the linguistics & history nerds- the West Africans that were brought to the new world dramatically changed how English, Spanish, French and Portuguese would be spoken in the former colonies. I mean we have AAVE which has similar elements that are listed in this vid (southern usa dialects have this influence too). Black people know how to put their own seasoning on things no matter where they go- maybe in a couple generations the same will happen to Mandarin!
Dude the costal accent is tough. I’ve lived in Medellin for about 3 years and am fluent, but man I struggle a bit when I go to a costal city or an island like San Andres.
I'm trying to learn the paisa accent as an english speaker from the caribbean, is there any trait he left out? or are there any tricks to getting the accent down?
Some examples of people who have some of these accents: Caribbean coast: Sofia Vergara, Carlos Vives, Paulina Vega, Shakira (even though she has lost most of her accent) Paisa: J Balvin, Maluma, Juanes, Karol G. Rolo/Bogotá accent: Natalia Reyes, John Leguizamo and is the mostly used in Colombian novelas. Chocó accent: the ChocQuibTown members (I really recommend their music btw).
Hahaha I’m Bolivian-American and my wife’s Colombian (Boyacense), but my Spanish sucks! I love how Colombian women, from all departments, talk. Very good video.
Vos es very informal it depends on the region you’re very right. Usted, tu and vos! I used vos mostly when I’m there.... and them I changed to tu when I moved back to the states.
It's crazy how you can lose your accent. I always find it insane when I meet an American born Colombian that have that insane Colombian accent, I'm like how in the heck do you sound like that.
Not all the d’s in colombian accent are soft. When the d is after the “i” sound we stress the d. So your example of “soy de Bogotá” is wrong. We pronounce the letter d there. The same with consonants so things like “buenas tardes” is exactly the same
Would you mind explaining the main situations when the d is soft? I know it's probably a complicated topic but I would love to learn more as I'm considering learning the Bogotá dialect, thank you either way!
I am Colombian and actually my accent in this country is very neutral and since I live in the capital here the accent is more neutral but in other cities the Colombian accent is heard very well
Everyone in Vegas thinks I'm from Columbia due to my accent😂. They couldn't be more wrong. I'm Mexican raised in San Diego! Don't know why they say that?!
Someone told me that I had a “Colombian accent” and it made sense because I’d been practicing with mostly Colombians at the time. 😂

That's just paisa
Mira "Retratos en un mar de mentiras", es muy buen cine, y te puede ayudar a conocer el hablado de Bogotá.
@Jevaun Santos Benjamin yes!
I wonder how many people are here to learn spanish, a lot of us are here just because we want to hear you talk about our countries haha. Anyway, keep it up!
I remember the first time when a Colombian call me marica I was like >:v
😂😂😂you get used to it
QUE LO QUEEEE BILINGUE VLOGS YO ESPERADO TANTO
Gracias por este Ricky!! I would love to see the Venezuelan accent. I know like Colombia different regions have different accents so it’d be interesting to see! Either that or Chilean which ya tú sabes es a beast of its own jaja.
Me gusta este canal!

Do Equatorial Guinea next....please!
20,000 suscriptores, felicidades hermano! Mantener el buen trabajo!
Gracias hermano. Siempre me apoyas y lo aprecio!
Suena mejor decir "sigue pa'lante" (Keep up the good work)

Me encantaaaa👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😍😍😍 Felicidades parcero mío🥳
Gracias parecera!!! Cómo va tu acento Colombiana?
In Colombian "ahorita, o ahoritica" is really tricky, it can mean right now, or nobody knows when...
Dude the costal accent is tough. I’ve lived in Medellin for about 3 years and am fluent, but man I struggle a bit when I go to a costal city or an island like San Andres.
I’m always en la costa. Sincelejo and san Onofre to be exact. I have it down packed 😂 really wish I had that paisa accent tho
I'm trying to learn the paisa accent as an english speaker from the caribbean, is there any trait he left out? or are there any tricks to getting the accent down?
I'm Colombian (from Cali) and believe me, man, when I go to the coast, so do I, too hahahaha
I love your videos man keep doing your thing could you do the Honduran accent next 🤔
My Colombian accent sounds like I was born and raised in Chicago. No lo tengo.:(

Alguien nos metió en la cabeza a los bogotanos que tenemos un acento neutro. Nonono, hablamos como con signo de admiración al final de cada frase.
Natalia Bastidas jajajaja

This guy Is the god of spanish
He's a talented human being. No one is god besides God
@@aphr0d that’s why he didn’t put a capital letter
I believe he has Latino parents because he doesn’t have a pure American accent.
Some examples of people who have some of these accents:
Caribbean coast: Sofia Vergara, Carlos Vives, Paulina Vega, Shakira (even though she has lost most of her accent)
Paisa: J Balvin, Maluma, Juanes, Karol G.
Como Boliviano-americano? Bolivia es un país de América, no hay que aclararlo
@@leonardovillarreal6433 Si pa pero el gentilicio para estadounidense en inglés es American, no hay otro.

Please do “How to speak like an Argentine”! 😜
Me encanta tu channel, tienes un talento unico q es dificil de master
Vos es very informal it depends on the region you’re very right. Usted, tu and vos! I used vos mostly when I’m there.... and them I changed to tu when I moved back to the states.
My dads from bogota and my moms side is from the carribean part. Do I say “Mi amor” or “Mi amol” ?
You mom will understand mi amor and dad will understand mi amol, so I don’t think it matters. Tbh
Its better to roll the r, always lol
In the colombian coast people don't pronounce like in Puerto Rico
Mi amor
In my region in Spain diminutives end in ico/ica
Please do Argentina 🇦🇷
I am Colombian I just need like someone to hear talk cuz i don’t want to lose my accent
Soy de espana
mira videos de comediantes colombianos yo tambien temo perder el acento
How do you practice different accents especially the columbian accent?
Wow man really well done. Impressive!
It's crazy how you can lose your accent. I always find it insane when I meet an American born Colombian that have that insane Colombian accent, I'm like how in the heck do you sound like that.
Me gustó tu explicación en el intro XD
¡Muchas felicidades por los 20,000 suscritores!!!
4:07 Pablo Escobar habla así . . . jejejeje
Gracias amigo desde londres yo voy colombia por mi segunda vez en enero muchas gracias respect
Pues es Colombian? Wow, I use it a lot but I learned it in Santander when I lived there for 6 months. I learned something new today.
What a great video... soy de cali en Colombia pero vivo cerca al río Misisipi...saludos parcero.. que buen español..
Dónde vives en EEUU? Tengo familia en Misisipi y Tennessee
best accent i think
I am Colombian and actually my accent in this country is very neutral and since I live in the capital here the accent is more neutral but in other cities the Colombian accent is heard very well
All bogotanos say that, I can recognize your accent right away man
There is no neutral accent . Nadie habla neutro.
@@albinoperro Exactly 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone in Vegas thinks I'm from Columbia due to my accent😂. They couldn't be more wrong. I'm Mexican raised in San Diego! Don't know why they say that?!
I can’t believe a mexican thinks colombia is written as Columbia. Betrayal!!
