- A Harry's garage video special on what makes a 1987 Lamborghini Countach Quattrovalve special. Also includes a history on the Countach and driving impressions gained after four years and 18,000km of ownership. Video brought to you in association with www.footmanjames.co.uk
Since filming this video, I've been sent new info regarding the total number of fuel-injected Countach QV built, which I've quoted below. Turns out the mix is not 50:50 FI/carb I quoted in the video after all. My thanks to Joe Sackey for sending me the following information.
"Out of the 610 QVs built between 1985 and 1988, approximately 220 were FI cars, with 80% of those coming to the USA. Of the 657 25th Anniversarios built between 1988 and 1990, we know about 200 were FI cars, with 187 of those coming to the USA". Авто/Мото
I'm 54 now. Since I was a kid, about 85 or so I put a poster on my bedroom wall of a red Countach. Side profile. That poster is still there . LOVE YOUR COUNTACH.
Me too , never going to own a Countach but its a work of art
29:45: "Every time I open the garage I have to pinch myself....I've got a Countach."
Yep. Proper attitude. :-)
This is probably the best review of a Countach that I have seen, Thank you Harry!
Holy cow! The 27:47 mark where he opens her up...put on some headphones and the sound of that engine is just UNREAL!!!
😂
Harry = A competently informed brilliantly tasteful automotive enthusiast that above all oozes passion and personality. Bravo, bis.
While being quite wealthy, he also seems VERY down to earth. Seems like the kind of guy you could sit and have a beer with. Love it! I can't stand arrogant people.
Lzz!
no one with common sense can stand arrogant people... i just opened a beer for you :)
Get your tongue out of his arse

True supercar. Everything manual, demands concentration and effort, a bit unrefined, lots of power, screw fuel economy.
Tuppoo94 Agreed. The high effort and concentration this car demands when you drive it is what makes it so rewarding.
'A bit'? unrefined? Lol
and slower on a track than a model x suv haha
@@slopedarmor on Grand tour faster in the rain around their track than an XJ220 and an EB110. Fast for its era, still quick enough.
Im sure you get used to it quite quickly...the HP amount is within livable boundaries...so no worrys...
This is my absolute favourite car channel. On youtube, on TV, anywhere. The details and flow is absolutely perfect. The rarity and diversity of your collection is nothing short of magic. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are appreciated.
I think it is up there with his pal Iain Tyrell and his workshop videos
Still the most beautiful Super car ever made!
nope, that would go to the Miura
Was my dream car as a kid.i had a poster of this exact model same color etc..still enjoy looking at it.sooo beautifull!!😍😍😍
@@DANNY40379 Spot on !!
0:13 sounds ok as well :)
no...Lamborghini Miura
Great vid.
Your fears about it being overly long were unfounded. I could have watched an hour of this quite happily.
Thanks Harry
Back in the 80s, 12 cylinders & 4 valves per cylinder = MIND BLOWN!
The Ferrari F12 has 12 cylinders and 4 valves per cylinder...
DOHC wasn't new then. Had been around since the 1920's at least in racing cars, became much more common in road cars from the late 1960's onwards.
This is amazing, I love his passion for cars and how he actually drives them, shows them off to the public! Not like other collectors who keep them in pristine garages and touch them only with white gloves on. I love your videos, Harry, keep them coming!
The perfect; the only way to begin a Countach video.

Harry's garage
What a great video - thank you!
hey harry, what would you say about corvettes if you had to remove your shoes to drive them?
I also notice ya didn't mention frequent dead batteries, faulty wiring, a garbage engine that needs relentless maintenance etc.
but if ya would just address the first question
This is the best Countach video I have ever seen. It goes through things I wasn't aware of. Now when I look at the front of one all I'm going to think about is how much water gets into the front compartment on rainy days lol. Great video, thanks.
Guy Fawkes uhh... he did touch on those things--specifically from what I remember: the big battery, the engine that's been easy to maintain with not many problems....
quack man he said the engine was ez to maintain and that's a lie. he also didn't give the cash amount to maintain.
since im a retired supercar mechanic ((my resume is all over youtube)) im afraid im going to need details about hours spent on "the ez maintenance" and the dollar amount of that ez maintenance.
legit question imo uhhhh
You are quite right Harry, the 5000 QV is by far the most desirable, and most gorgeous Countach of all - with the exception of the unobtainable periscope models on fat tyres, of course! I once said to my dad, when I was about 18, that one day I would own a Lamborghini Countach. The other day, he reminded me of that statement over 30 years ago, and asked me why I now had 4 Porsches!
And, the answer is, that I have more fun in my Porsches than I ever could in a Countach - but deep inside me, I still yearn for one. Happily though, I am content for that to remain an unfulfilled desire.
Easily the best channel of its type on here. Infornative, enthusiastic and just a man sharing his passion. Absolutely brilliant.
And that carb'd V12...my days.
That was the fastest 30 minutes of my life. I couldn't blink the entire time. Incredible job expressing your love and appreciation for this car.
I'd far rather hear Harry explaining the problems of a Countach's glovebox than watch Jeremy Clarkson slide round corners of an airfield shouting " watch this..." in one.
When you hear one, in person, for the first time, it changes you. You crave to hear it more and more. It doesn't just stir your soul, it takes it out, shakes it up, slaps it around, has a go at the naughty parts, then leaves you a broken mess of sweat, snot, and slobber. I have known women who had the same effect on me, but none who spoke Italian.
Dirk Rasmussen .. i have my friend and she had a serious case of the mental lol ..
Nottaway Garage this is such a well-written description of the Countach exhaust note. Just a brilliant comment in general :)
I can hardly make out anything of what Harry is saying over that glorious V12 roaring in the back...ah, Lamborghini, you just gotta love'm :-)
I love that comment about mileage not mattering. When it needs a rebuild it will get a rebuild. Great attitude to owning these type of cars. They are there to be enjoyed.
finally a normal review without all the flashing gifs and sounds. thank you
Great video Harry, love the detail.
this nick murray guys gets everywhere
Thank you Harry for such a wonderful and revealing look at my childhood dream car.
I like the way Mr. Harry has presented this documentary. With small simple details and of-course personal touches here and there has kept this presentation interesting. He has managed to give all the details that are generally beyond the usual: Top speed, BHP, Torque, 0-62 MPH so on and so forth. Another interesting fact is that he showed how does the boot and the bonnet open's up (the latch/lock). Also the fact that the frontal cosmetic air vents are a problem during monsoon. The care required to wash car that might end up wetting the computer unit.
Thank you for the documentary on one of the most popular pin up cars. I had this on my wall in deep Purple colour. I still feel she is one of the most futuristic looking cars for years to come.
James May did a nice little drive in this car for his "Cars of the People" series. Harry seemed like a very nice, decent normal guy in that one as well. It's not only nice to see this car, but nice that such wonderful people own them and share them with the rest of us lot.
Harry’s garage is the best. What a great first-person inside perspective on all the cars. Thanks Harry!
"One of those cars you've got to roll your sleeves up....right I'm driving the Countach today"
0:13 it's definitely got that vibe to it.
Now I know who's name to give the next time someone asks me who my hero's are. Truly inspiring, Harry. Thank you for sharing these wonderful cars with us.
Harry is such a classy calm mild-mannered kool posh humble enthusiast and you can tell he has lived yet like a little boy in the candy shop having the time of his life as an added bonus his attention to detail about the cars from quirks to their history is second to none here here harry.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite video on the Internet!!! This made my day and my sons day!!!! Countach for life!!!!!
And what about the iPhone?
If anyone deserves a collection as amazing as this one. Its Harry, these machines deserve to be seen, felt, and driven. Not sit sparkling in a garage somewhere being stared at. Great Video, makes my day every time a new one is uploaded!
Amen
Found this channel the other week and now I'm addicted! Such in depth knowledge, really feels like you are learning about the cars from someone who has lived and breathed them! Great watching!!
The Countach was and still is the "Dream Car" par excellence . Few lucky ones have the pleasure to own and drive one.
While I was enjoying this video a sentimental yearning of that happiness was overwhelming me, I remember back in those young years in Zurich, a friend owned a Lamborghini Countach in a special VenenumGreen colour with race exaust, every week the Police stopped him for a fine (he got used to it)... when we drove in summer, we left the doors open when starting, waited 1/4 of an hour to warm the engine up and then while accelerating til 120 the doors closed due to airpressure :), the needle went from approx. 8000rpm to 6000rpm in every gear change.
After so many years, I can still feel, live the tremendous sound, the cribbling in the veins, the excitement.
Excellent video Mr. Gentleman.
Kept my interest for the whole 30 minutes, a first for a youtube video. Thanks very much Harry.
Love Harry's garage. It's an absolute pleasure and a joy to have such an enthusiast share with us what it's like to drive and own these cars which I'm sure were childhood dreams for many of us.Many thanks and keep up the great work!
Thanks for showing so much for the Countach for your audience and people like me that may never get a chance to see one up close or even set in one
😍 love the Countach 😁👍👍
That is absolutely beautiful. Yes, it was on my wall as a child. Later in life, now, I would think of giving up a couple of my muscle cars for one of these. This is my dream car. Thank you for the look my friend.
the start up sequence at the very beginning just gives me goosebumps, pure menace, pure testosterone in the world's meanest sexiest shape ever
11:07 That spare wheel is pretty hilarious, but it does the job lol
anotherone10 nice to have a spare. I don't have one on my C-5 but where do you put the wide wheel that was removed? Possibly over the engine and in front of the spoiler?
@@stevenvilardi8626 you just switch them ?
That was a wonderful video, Harry. You covered the Countach better than anyone, ever. I wanted one as a kid. After watching your video, you awakened a yearning I'd almost forgotten. It took my breath away hearing the beautiful 12 cylinder, carbureted engine. I almost felt like I was in the car with you. You are the best reviewer, hands down, no others compare. Thanks for what you do, kudos.
A real analogue supercar. You put the effort in, it rewards in spades. What a machine. Forza Lamborghini!!
Thank you Harry and please keep bringing us these lengthy and passionate reviews and insight into your motoring world. I have and always will consider you one of the top opinions in fine automobiles. The fact that also founded my favorite car publication EVO just further heightens your legend. Thanks again
James May drove this countach on one of his car shows!
"sorry Harry"
Great video! Others complained about the audio, not me. Proves that this car is truely the most beautiful and badass supercar ever made, and Lamborghini gave you what you wanted, a 90% racecar without the fluff.
I just saw Harry’s video on the Bugatti Cheron , April 10, 2022 and although a lot of viewers applauded, I don’t think it’s nearly as rewarding as this . “The shock factor .”
Harry another great video oozing with detail and enthusiasm!
Thanks for uploading!
imho the most iconic car ever!
I love that it drives exactly like you would expect. It delivers on the promise of the poster.
I watched this again after months. It was even better the second time. Harry knows how to have fun in a car...and in the Cotswolds!
Harry you're such a legend, thank you so much for sharing this with us, the acceleration ending is just gold.
Happy New Year sir, looking forward for more videos :)
It's the noise, iconic Lamborghini V12 noise. No other car ever made sounds as good as this engine. (Especially the last version).
Pagani Zonda F 7.3 / Ferarri Testarossa :P

Overrated.
From ALL the cars in the World, this has always been my favorite. Grew up in the 80's, had it on the wall as a kid, fell asleep looking at it every night.
Btw, new subscriber here.
Thank you sir, i like your reviews.
I was born in 86, my generation was the Diablo, however I cannot get past the awesomeness of any of the Lamborghinis. I would love to own a Countach. The fact your driving it earns so mutch respect.
The smile in his face says all. GREAT! I love the sound of this engine, it´s just music in my ears. Thank´s for this video.
Thank you Harry! Please upload more frequently!
Excellent video! There's nothing better than listening to a true enthusiast talk about the car he loves.
THE COUNTACH WAS SO FAR BEYOND IN THEIR TIMEFRAME IN THE SUPERCAR CATEGORY VERY UNIQUE SIMPLE AND PACKED WITH A HUGE ENGINE AND GEARBOX THIS IS WHAT A TRUE RACE CAR IS ALL ABOUT SIMPLICITY AND NOISE THANK YOU FOR THE TOUR OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL MACHINE ...
Finally a new video!! Great video and looking forward for some more!
What a great video, brought a smile to my face to. Thanks Harry.
So knowledgeable that's a true fan. Not just a owner but he knows the history in and out. Respect!
In the beginning HOLY GOD that thing sounds AMAZING!
I want to see a When Harry met Jay Leno video at Jay's garage!
That would be a blast. His review on this Countach compensates well with Jay's and vice versa.
That video would be 4hrs long. After the edit.
you cannot compare them, jay is a classic american petrolhead and harry is a gentleman
Compare??? I'm fairly sure we're talking about Harry going to LA and meeting Jay in his garage.
Jay would have to change his name to Sally.
amazing car, excellent review! love to see an owner of a classic supercar talk with so much passion and knowhow about it, i do hope the audio gets better in your next reviews.. it's hard to hear wat you say when you're driving.
Geef de man zijn eigen BBC programma :-)
Almost 40 years later and this car still looks like a UFO!!...Outrageous!!
Learned a lot about the Countach watching this, but the owners pure delight at looking, touching and driving his car was brilliant. You can just see his soul awaken with pleasure from the moment he takes it out of the garage. Well done Harry. :)
I saw your Countach parked outside of a garage in Haywards Heath a couple of months ago! I knew it looked familiar (;
Great review Harry........You are so lucky in life, but im not envious cos you are a nice man and deserve all you have. Cheers.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, great to watch,I loved cars as a boy and forty years later I still get the same excitement.
They clearly give you a lot of enjoyment and its great that you share that.
Thanks again.
I had a remote control version of a Lamborghini countach when I was a kid, its still a crazy car in 2023.
Nice of you to lend it to the Grand tour.. Did they tell you Hammond would be driving it?
Awesome car Harry.
ahahah i came here because i noticed the license plate as well! :)
and by the way, just noticed that he lend the testarossa as well!!
The purchase price! That would be around £250,000 today. Wow!
Beautiful car. I have one myself (a model obviously).
I feel I'm there with you the whole time Harry!
That V12 makes a beautiful sound!
I've known these cars were impractical for years but it's worth owning one just for the experience everytihing you take it out on the road!
Thanks again for a great Video and for sharing your garage with us! 👍🚗➡👌
Harry your enthusiasm about this car is contagious. Like we were 16 all over again and living the dream! Thanks for sharing!
Great video harry, still waiting on a similar one for the 930 turbo!
*14:08* *Good guy Harry takes the air filter cover off and revs the engine for us.* And then talks over it.... :(
I've been trawling through your video's Harry and I found this one. It as absolutely brilliant because Countach was my poster car as a young kid and it's one of my absolute hero cars. Watching this and seeing the way you drive it and the massive 'kid in a sweetshop' smile on your face as you describe owning your dream car was excellent. Thanks and keep up the good work
Man, one of the best carvids I've seen in a long long time. Thank you Harry!
This and your testa looked good in the hands of the grand tour boys😉
Hi Harry - discovered your Garage videos last year - all very well done and interesting; this one on the Countach included. Just wondered if you could maybe have a remote mic so we can hear your commentary during the (gloriously) noisier bits.
That car is so freakin awesome even to this day, the wide tires are my favorite part but the design, the intake vents, the doors, the spoiler is just so freakin amazing. I smile every time i see it. I love it.
Thank you for posting Hary. So happy for you living what most of us have only dream of. Love the car and that sound is better music than the radio for sure.
Harry's garage Were you driving this around Bromley the other day? If so, I gave you a thumbs up!
Jimmy Broadbent can you do a one make race with the 919 evo
Ayyyy jimmyy!!!!!
I would think these small windows on the sides might have been designed with a thought to give more light to the interior as well as for the aesthetics purposes.
Was thinking the same thing
My compliments Harry, even today the Countach seems be arrived from another planet... fabulous car
Here's the staying power of this car as an icon: Harry and I were the same age when we first saw this car, except it was 20 years later when I saw it and the thing was STILL capturing kid's imaginations after all that time. I remember being 12 or 13 years old in the early 90s, doodling pictures of a Countach on my Trapper Keeper at school. They were badass back then, they are badass now and they will be badass 20 years from now. Of course, 20 years from now the sale of gasoline powered automobiles will probably be outlawed and perhaps spoken of in near mythical tones so yeah, I will definitely stand by that.
One Word: AWESOME!
He just said the 1987 Lamorghini Countach has a 120 liter gas tank.... holy crap. The internet tells me that's over 30 gallons of fuel in a car smaller than a boxster?
Who needs luggage?
17 liters of oil!
I recall reading once that the fuel economy (hahaha) on this car is about 6 miles to the gallon, in the city I'm sure.
Not that such things matter on a car like this.
Probably the best looking supercar ever made.
As always, a fascinating and passion-filled video by a super well-informed car lover! No gimmicks or sensationalism, just pure passion and fun. Thanks Harry!
That cold start though !!! ahhhhhh
when he opened up the throttle...that sound....made me punch my own face....so so good
I must have drawn a thousand of these as a kid, it was my absolute favorite car as an 80s kid. I had the same Lamborghini poster (at the 2:00 mark) along with several others and of course, and a red remote control Lambo. Thanks for the up close and personal share, that equalizer brought back memories of the ones my dad installed in a few of our vehicles, good stuff! I might have to rewatch Cannonball Run soon.
Thanks Harry, first time I,ve see in detail a car like this, great camera work too, very good definition, this car always was a passion of mine, one of the most beautiful things ever made
That. startup. sound.
Well, no need for sex this month.
Great review, good sir.
The startup sound? It sounded like a dying tractor.
The startup sound? It sounded like a dying tractor.
A daft punk correct
@VeritasEtAequitas its funny you say that because Lambo was a tractor company before making cars
Really enjoy your videos. Having said that, perhaps you should consider wearing a microphone during the driving scenes (voice clarity is a bit poor). Keep up the good work. Cheers.
A Zoom might work too.

I'm gobsmacked that these are quite small, I'd always assumed they were enormous. Fabulous sound from that engine.
They are 2 metres wide. thats about as wide as a landrover. they are just low and short.
You see them pictured on open road or in poster against black nothing and there's nothing to compare it to anything and none of the proportions of a Countach make any kind of sense - it looks like a space cruiser. And then at 1:10, if you parked a Lada, the very small VAZ-2101 in front of the Countach, there would basically red bumpers peeking behind the Lada. It's shorter than the Seat Toledo I had was. I mean I know it's a two-seater but it still makes no sense deep in my mind.
Best Countach video ever. Thank you very much for taking the time to show us around your beautiful car and letting us hear the wonderful sound it makes. That was awesome and I can tell that you love it. I would too!
I don’t care, I’m just going to drive the nuts off it. Harry I take my hat of to you sir.
This is probably about as close to a countach as I'll ever get ...

There a guy that drive one in novi mi he parks in gas stations ...he’s very nice and will talk to you about his car cool car
@@carguy1697 I got to see a Countach in person as a kid. Pictures and video really do make the car seem bigger then it actually is, its just an amazing freaking car and it has an aura in person you don't get in pictures
DeLorean in 2 years managed to make about 8500 cars.. Lambo made 1900 of these in 19 years... it shows really how rare these things are
I love coming back to this video and watching it again every one in a while. Such a refreshment to my day. Thank you, Harry. You are a very lucky gentleman.
You lucky basket. Really nice to see someone that owns and has time to let everyone see what a supercar it was. Wounderful
