The Neil Morrisey impression was spot-on! BTW you may not recognise the name Neil Morrisey but you may recognise his voice since he was the voice of Bob The Builder.
Ya, I'm not sure how well the singer Morrissey went down in the States, whereas, I suspect everyone here thought he was going to read from his autobiography.
The guy in Dictionary Corner is Peter Serafinowicz. I saw his live tour this summer, titled Brian Butterfield: The Call of No. It was structured like a business advice seminar, it was brilliant. His deadpan delivery really pays off with that character.
Neil Morrissey impersonation was spot on. He's an actor who rose to fame with TV series Boon and sit-com Men Behaving Badly, also known as the voice of Bob The Builder kids cartoon.
14:51- it's a good impression. Neil Morissey was an actor in the 90's who was most famous for the TV show Men Behaving Badly. Then went on to be the voice of Bob The Builder. I like Peter's joke more that you expect it to be a book about the singer Morrisey, from The Smiths (controversial figure).
The Neil Morrisey impression was 10/10. You actually should really do some Men Behaving Badly reactions. It was a great sitcom for its time. Pretty underrated actually.
"Clunsey" was Neil Morrisey's Men Behaving badly co-star Martin Clunes, the joke here being that he was mixing him up with George Clooney. Incidentally, Morrisey replaced Harry Enfield after the first series of MBB. Harry later said that the series wouldn't have got commissioned without him but wouldn't have been as successful if he'd stayed
Neil Morrissey was the original voice of Bob The Builder. That children's TV character popular a few years back. So the impression was spot on to me anyway. He did a show called Men Behaving Badly which originally starred Harry Enfield as the flatmate with Martin Clunes. Neil replaced Harry when he left the show early on. Although that's probably why you see Men Behaving Badly actors like Martin Clunes in some Harry Enfield show sketches. Along with the woman who plays Clunes love interest in the show.
Love the subversion of expecting Steven Morrissey from The Smiths and ending up with Neil Morrissey from Men Behaving Badly; the impression was on point.
The joke about the "Morrissey autobiography" was that Morrissey, the lead singer of the Smiths (now with a somewhat tarnished reputation as a supporter of far-right politics), had recently released his autobiography and it was being lauded left and right in the press as being very well-written and important in the history of one of the greatest UK bands ever. When Peter Serafinowicz introduced it, people were expecting the autobiography of Morrissey the singer, but instead he pulled out the autobiography of Neil Morrissey, a much less serious person, comedy actor, and he absolutely nails the impression.
And I'll add to this if I may - Peter does an amazing impression of Morrissey and started reading/singing his actual autobiography to the music of The Smiths. He stopped at page 2, but it's eerie how spot on it is. It's on Peter's official channel.
"(now with a somewhat tarnished reputation as a supporter of far-right politics)" in your very biased opinion but not many other peoples. Give your head a shake, and learn what "far right" means. Words matter. Choose yours more intelligently.
@@applecorp As someone who hates Morrisey's politics and thinks he mostly speaks bollocks, I have to agree that putting a "far right" label on anyone who has alternative politics to the left, is a stupidly regressive way of going about things. There's plenty of examples of extreme "far right" politics throughout history (the most notable one coming from Austria), which aren't even close to applicable to Morrisey's views. The same goes for anyone who uses the label "far left".
He was spot on with the Morrisey (Neil) impression. The sitcom he was in called "Men Behaving Badly" would be a great one for you to watch, its hilarious. 😂😂😂😂
The Neil Morrisey impression was 10/10. He co stared in a sitcom called (Men behaving badly) I'm sure every UK viewer of your channel is wondering why the hell you haven't reacted to it yet...lol The joke was we thought Peter was going to read from the auto biography of the singer called Morrisey from the band (The Smiths). BTW Harry Enfield was in season 1 of men behaving badly....
Peter voiced darth maul in episode 1 aswell Depending on when this was recorded you would've seen tim key either in taskmaster clips or more than likely sidekick simon in alan partridge stuff 😁
Peter Serafinowicz is indeed a national treasure and his impressions are spot on. His best is, arguably, the late great Terry Wogan but Neil Morrisey was spot on! He’s never quite had the success he deserves though and often appears in other peoples shows though he did have one of his own which was kinda average. Otherwise you may have seen him as Aldo in “Spy” or the sommelier in John Wick 2 though he also appeared in the first Guardians of the Galaxy and will frequently appear in animated fare as a VO. He’s also played Tex in Alan Partridge (Geordie Michael’s US obsessed friend), Duane Benzie in Spaced (The awesome John Woo paintball episode) Garry in the criminally underrated and little seen World of Pub and as Ted Grundy in the “Amish Sex Pistols” skit alingside Kevin Eldon and Matt Berry. Then there’s stuff like South Park, Rick and Morty, Gravity Falls, The Simpson, Bob’s Burgers and a huge list of TV shows. If you’ve yet to see it my personal recommendation for a reaction would be Look Around You, though it’s a very niche British show that, especially with the first series, spoofed something so precise that some may leave unimpressed and/or confused. Series 2 was probably more accessible first a wider audience plus it was 30 minute episodes. Either way he’s supremely talented and deserves to be comedy royalty providing he never abdicates …
Tim Key also played Alan Partridge's co-host who got the gun to his head in the Alpha Papa movie. He is the co-inventor of a game called No More Jockeys which he plays with Mark Watson and Alex Horne (well worth a watch and super fun to play!)
Tim Key 9:00 he's been in plebs, peep show (Jerry who is the one who moves in with Mark when Jez becomes homeless), and recently he is Sidekick Simon from Mid morning matters Alan Partridge and Alpha Papa movie.
11. It's Neil Morrissey who was momentarily a bit of a darling boy on TV but lost favour due to being actually a bit of a wally. The impression is not only very good but at the same time makes Morrissey interesting again. While the impression lasts..
The first part of the joke in the "Morrissey" bit is that he makes you think he's talking about "Morrissey" the singer, rather than the much lower-profile Neil Morrissey the actor. The impression itself is absolutely 10/10.
My feeling is that it's hard for you to produce shows with that kind of banter and a relaxed atmosphere, because of the main difference between UK and US humour: In the UK, a lot of humour is humble and self-deprecating, and may involve "punching up", whereas in the US it's the exact opposite; the 'funny-man' is usually grandstanding, "punching down", and laughing at his own jokes, which, I'm sorry to say, seems so childish to us. 🤷♂
I have to respectfully disagree with your belief that comedy game shows if Americanised would focus more towards winning. Whose Line Is It Anyway? came out of Britain and did amazing in America and that had the tagline ‘where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.’
yeah i don't think you would ever get a celebrity game show in America where they compete for a plastic cocktail stick holder (vic and bob's shooting stars)
Peter Serafinowicz is very much a parson's egg performer. Sometimes he just rocks it, but others, not so much. Not sure if it's your bag, but I know you must've seen John Cooper Clark on 8/10 cats dc or WILTY. Try to look out some clips of him reading his poems. 'Twat' is a good starter, but 'Evidently Chickentown' makes a neat second.
The Channel Zeducation also has issues with people getting unsubscribed from his channel without their knowledge. I haven’t noticed it myself but I’m always checking regardless

Neil Morrisey King, and you absolutely need to react to the show that he's talking about in the book "Men Behaving Badly". Neil wasn't in it for series 1, but from 2 onwards, it was one of the funniest shows out there and still holds up today.

You should check out the TV series Lifes Too Short starring Warwick Davis the convention scene with Tim Key as the reporter is a good moment you could react to. 10/10 for the Neil Morrissey impersonation.
If you havent seen em yet then have a look at the 8 out of 10 cats does countdown where greg davies does an impression of chris eubank the boxer. Make sure you get them the right way round. There are two different episodes i believe.

why would Scott Lang or Hank Pym be in King Boomer's place of residence? Is there something your not telling us, Brian? Peter totally nailed his impression of Neil morrisey! You’ll see if you watch Men Behaving Badly, another classic British 90s sitcom
Man I just love that ”none of your business” joke and how Jimmy gives it a bit of extra juice. Never gets old.
It was about time somone said it Jimmy always asks the guests personal questions at that point in the show.

I'd give him a 10/10 for his impersonation.

The Morrisey impersonation was spot on... But the Morrisey joke was amazing...

And Sidekick Simon on Alan Partridge's Mid Morning Matters
Apparently Tim Key comes up with alot of the tasks on taskmaster alongside Alex Horne.
Danny Dyer is one of those chaps you imagine would drag an attack dog into a library & repeatedly tell it to "Shut It!"
Same with his wife!
Danny Dyer first starred in Human Traffic. A film well worth watching and pretty accurate to how a lot of our weekend were back then :)
His breakthrough role sure, but he'd been on tv for 6-7 years before that.
It is a 10/10 impression!
