"why is he hesitating ?" Because he realises that Angelus + Gem of Amara would be VERY bad & he knows there is no guarantee that at some point Angelus won't get free again. Heck, even putting it on & experiencing sunlight for the first time in 250 years could conceivably be a "moment of perfect happiness". I'm a big fan of when Angel remembers that he's literally the prison for one of history's greatest monsters & that (as awful as it is for him) he can't allow himself to be too happy or hundreds of innocent people might die.
Juliet's giggling during spikes commentary just made me happy. It's cool to see some one enjoy and "get" a show and a universe that's given me so much over the years. Have a good week, Jules. See you Friday.
The bit with Spike at the start taking the piss out of Angel never gets old. Excellent episode demonstrating how Angel the Series has a different tone from Buffy - not better, just different. So glad you're enjoying it, Jules.
They used the "Cameos" pretty well in this one. Andf the end shows exactly the difference between Buffy and Agel. One is a show about growing up and finding yourself, the other one a show about being a grown up and how to live with your decisions in life.
The _Buffy_ episode is named, "The Harsh Light of Day". This _Angel_ episode is named, "In the Dark." It's not just a crossover, they're thematically linked.
One odd thing about this episode that sticks out to me is the air of familiarity that Spike displays with Cordelia. They have literally never interacted before and its almost surprising he even knows who she is.
Ooh, if Angel has to destroy the ring, maybe he has to drop it in a volcano! Oh, but he'll need help, since Spike wants it back! he should get a group together to help him! Yeah, and maybe he can get a wizard, and an elf, and........ This could be a BOOK! and a MOVIE! Maybe THREE movies!!! ...................Wait......what? it's been done??!! 🤣 So sorry, I just could not resist. The funny thing is, I never thought about it when I first watched Angel. Weird how my mind works....
Hello Juliette 👋 Angel was very quick in deciding to destroy the ring. It would have been so helpful in so many situations. Guess it's hard to brood when you're sunbathing at the beach though, and since that's Angels favourite pastime, the ring had to go. Poor Spike, can't a murderous fiend catch a break!? He just wants to live his best life but those darn do-gooders always spoil his fun! Thanks for another great reaction video Juliette, hope you're having a great week 💜
Neil 🤣🤣🤣 it does make it hard to sit in the dark and be lonely and brooding when you're at the beach and it's sunny and everyone's having a great time. The ring HAD to go! If we see Angel smiling, is it really even Angel? It's not worth the risk. Thank you for the laughs, Neil 😅 greatly appreciated! I hope you have had a lovely week so far 🥰💜
I think that what made Angel decide to destroy the ring were two main factors. First, once it was known he had it, vampires from all over the world might come to LA to come after it, and might do like Spike tried to do, use his friends against him, and given how easy it seems to be to get the ring off of a vampire's finger, one of them might succeed. Too dangerous for his friends, and it might interfere with his normal do-gooding. But second, and scarier, having the ring might contribute to making him happy - and if he ever achieved true happiness...Angelus would be able to walk in the day and be almost impossible to kill, he could do a lot more damage than ever before.
I chuckled for *days* about this intro, on first watch. I would be at work (on a plane, btw) doing ordinary stuff, and I would mutter "quickly, to the Angel-mobile!" to myself and start giggling uncontrollably. 😂
Spike's opening rooftop narration/monolog read great, but James knocked it out of the park. The actor playing Spike's bald henchman was excellent, but his voice was a little high and nasally, so we lowered it in post. He was supposed to be menacing, but his voice undercut it. When Spike has Angel chained up and he circles him giving another monolog, for any shot where you don't see Angel, David wasn't there. We shot this downtown. David had gotten in a minor car accident on the way to set. He was OK, but was too upset to act and took the day off. James only had a few days to shoot, so he did the whole scene to some dangling chains, and he was great. I was there for some of that. I also got to be at the pier in Malibu where we shot the beach scenes. Directed by Bruce Seth Green. No relation to Seth Green. Co-written by Doug Petrie and Jeanine Renshaw. She was a new writer. Due to Spike and Oz coming over, they wanted a Buffy writer involved as well, and Doug wrote for both shows, but was a full-time Buffy writer with his office upstairs with their writers. Sadly, at the time, I had to look up the term laconic to get Oz' joke. The faith reference was faith, not Faith.
For the most part (especially the first couple seasons), Buffy and Angel episodes were shown in this order. Buffy was on at 8:00 on Tuesdays and Angel was on at 9:00. Later, they might get a little out of order this way, but I think it works out generally.
Watching Buffy and Angel in alternating episodes is how we watched them when they first aired. If it's working for you that's great. I also prefer having a taste of each story at a time rather than get overloaded with one or the other.
"It's through the pain that we find the truth of who we are," according to Marcus. Which sounds awfully close to Niska quoting Xiang Yu: "Tie [a man] up, and hold him over the volcano's edge. And on that day, you will finally meet the man." Both of which come near the truth, but fail to hit the point properly.
Congratulations Jules, you've reached the first crossover point! I really like how the Buffyverse crossovers are just nice and simple, it really reinforces the fact that they're part of the same world. It's such fun seeing Spike show up, his interactions with Angel are always so much fun. They do a great job of reminding us how much of a monster he is though, those torture scenes sre brutal and also pretty reminiscent of Firefly's torture scenes. It's also great to see Oz show up, and it's nice to know that the Scoobs will know what Angel's getting up to. It's so nice seeing Angel get the chance to enjoy a day in the sun, we can only imagine how that felt for him. In the end though, he made the right, but difficult choice. It must have been so hard for him to destroy the ring, but can you imagine an invincible Angelus? Things are still heating up Jules, you've got so much more to look forward to, so I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.
Spike’s running commentary on Angel’s angst is an absolute highlight as is Spike getting knocked down at the end. I’m going to be saying “To the Angel-mobile, away!” each time I leave a comment going forward, aren’t I?
These two shows used to come on the air so that Buffy was on first in the order. So it makes sense that it is watched in that order. I will say that Spike doing the dialogue for Angel and the Rachel were having was so very funny! Oz "catching up" with Cordelia was funny as well. And then again when his soliloquy was interrupted by his head catching fire from the sun... hilarious!
Spikes narration at the beginning reminds me of an old comedy game show called Who's Line Is It Anyway. One of the competitions they sometimes did was having 2 of the comedians speak the lines of a movie with the sound turned down, but they were making up the lines on the spot. And they'd come up with dialog not that different from what Spike was doing there.
Spike cracks me up, mocking Angel from the rooftop. "Now I'm just a biiiiiiiiiig fluffy puppy... quick! To the Angelmobile, and away!" 😆🤣 I also like Angel's dry humor, especially at the end with Doyle: "One more hot poker, I was giving up the ring... your mom... how is your mom?" Heeeeeee. I like the consistency of character as well. Spike getting bored is something that happens all the time. In fact, the first time he went after Buffy at the school was because he got bored and couldn't wait to institute his first plan, lol. So it stands to reason that he'd get too impatient to bide his time and then take the ring from Angel. One thing I appreciate, Jules, is that you are probably the first reactor I've seen who watched this episode and suggested Angel destroy the ring. Every other reactor I've seen has watched him smash it at the end, and then said, "WHYYYY did you do that??? You could have used it and done all sorts of good work with it, and never get killed!" But you heard what he said about being afraid he might no longer "see" or help the people who struggle at night, and you recognized the dangers of that ring being out there, available and at risk to be taken at any time by someone who shouldn't have it (like the vampire who likes children, ewwwwwww). It's just one of those difficult choices Angel has to make on a regular basis. I think it shows his tremendous inner strength and his desire for atonement for all he's done as Angelus. A lesser man would have wanted to keep the ring, damn the consequences. Angel is no ordinary person. ❤
Awww I love how you think so highly of Angel 💜 I totally agree. He's so very wonderful and special. Watching Angel has really changed the way I see him. I always liked his character, but I like him even more now. We are getting to see him in such a beautiful new way, the REAL him. Even just thinking about him when I'm writing to you makes me smile 🥰🥰
Great job, we really enjoyed this and all your reactions. The ducklings, of course, are still asking those uncomfortable questions. The alpacas are swooning over Spike, they like bad boys, meanwhile the ducklings are so glad to see Oz, they live him. Personal, Spike mocking Angel is my favorite scene in the entire show. We all hooe you are doing good and are looking forward to more videos.
Cat 💜🤗 those ducklings are just doing it on purpose. I really don't think they are as innocent as they look. They know exactly what Buffy was doing in that last episode 🤣 Thank you, Cat! I hope you have a lovely week 💜☺️
6:58 Not the first time Spike threw away a plan because he wanted to get straight to the violence. Nice little nod to School Hard.... one of my favourite episodes. "But I just got so bored."
Spike is always great. At one point, a Spike spin-off series was planned but sadly never happened. Just going forward, block off the bottom of the screen just while actors' credits are rolling. Fine for this one, but in future episodes, you can get spoiled by actors' names being revealed before being on screen.
Rachel said she found a little faith because Angel told her sometimes you need to find some faith in their second meeting when he was telling her to find a woman's shelter.
That was a great crossover episode. Good use of Spike and Oz. The Gem was to dangerous to exist. There is only one vampire with a soul who could use it for good and there is possible that he will lose that. Destroying the Gem was the only safe option.
you'll have many cross overs in both shows to look forward to,so sit back and enjoy! I always love Spikes snarkyness, as others here have said, it counters Angels brooding nature perfectly. looking forward to your reactions as the show moves forward Jules!
Hello, Jules!💜 A great beginning, 🤣and it carries through to a great ending as well.🥲 I'm thinking you'll enjoy bits of this one. Let's see.😊 Happy to see you truly surprised at Spike's presence in the opening.😊 Hilarious dialogue. Actually a very funny episode, in a number of spots. Doyle is always full of sarcastic wit, Cordelia and her "Invoice", Spike and his uncontrollably angry speeches, Oz and Cordelia "catching up", but my favorite two jokes here today, are both from Oz.🤣 "They always like this?" "No we're usually laconic"😂 and later - the whole "pale" bit - Oz - a red-head calling out Angel for being so "incredibly pale".😅 But, once again, Oz saves the day, he was indeed "key" here, and it was a great scene when he burst in. Hopefully he gets enough money from his LA gig to get his van repaired.😂 Excellent theories, questions, and observations, throughout this episode today, Jules. You're always on top of all the details. 🤔🥰 "What are the odds they look under that particular brick?" "How are you going to get that ring back off this invincible guy?", and the best "How do you know he doesn't care about the ring?" And, I dare say, your purely Rhetorical questions here and there, leave the little members of the Spoiler Nation, drooling and scrambling through the dark, thinking of ways to be clever with telling quote phrases, not so clever "hints", or outright bursting at the seam reveals once they can no longer stand not being 1st to let you know all they know about it. On some level, they seem just a tad like Marcus, from this episode. 🤭 As you point out, whilst the viewing of both series, back and forth, add a level of enjoyment, or even immersion on a limited scale, it is not necessary to do so. Each series is fine as a stand alone, with the crossover moments adequately explained in each, in a very general manner. A great episode, in my opinion. This show does set a slow burn as it builds up a better back story for the overall series, and the individual characters involved. This episode does that in a good way. Happy to be here with you today, once again, Jules💜 Have a great day. Get what you want done, and feel fantastic with your achievements along the way. I look forward to your next offering.😋 It's forever time very well spent. I'll always be here, to watch and listen.💜🤗💜
Tom 🤗💜 ah, see, you know what joy is ahead of me with Angel! I love that! And I know what misery is ahead of you in Buffy 🤣 it works out well, our little viewing partnership. A wonderful episode with Oz and Spike coming to town. Oz will always be one of my favourite characters. He's just so calm and delivers everything in this quiet, deadpan manner. I do love the moments, very rare however, when he IS loud. It makes the whole room stop. He's a wonderful character. I knew Angel wouldn't keep the ring as that's just not him. He would never want it, nor the burden that comes with it. But oh, wasn't it beautiful to see him outside? He hasn't felt the sun in so long. It was such a wonderful moment. I really adore our broody boy. Oh no, now I've made myself sad 🤣 because I worry about him and just hope he will be okay and because this is a Joss program, I still very much anticipate no one being there by the end 🤣😭 I hope you've had a most wonderful day, dear Tom 🤗💜
Unfortunately Faith the Vampire Slayer has a name that is commonly used in heroic tales of redemption. So we can think of her whenever the term is used when it is not actually a reference to her. Faith means a bit more than just thinking positively. Faith drives you and encouarages you in a way that just thinking positively in it's basic sense doesn't cover. So it's not so easy to just use another term to avoid confusion.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the crossovers! The show’s storylines are mostly separated, but they do intersect from time to time, occasionally in unforgettable ways, and at other times merely in very entertaining ways (like here). Spike’s monologue in the first scene was uproarious! As far as your watch order is concerned, I totally get the desire to have one of each show per week, and for a while it shouldn’t pose any problem. But you may want to know that the shows didn’t always air their new episodes at the same times … sometimes one show would be a new episode and the other would be a repeat. So eventually things do start to get a little bit out of sync. But I’m hopeful it won’t be too much of a problem; I just now looked over the remaining episodes of this season for both shows and only see one significant timing issue, and even that’s not one that really spoils anything.
Oh thank you, David!! I think I'm okay until at least season 3 as that's when the airing started to go a bit wonky. I might then follow the broadcast order ☺️
@@julesreacts That’s surely because season 3 of Angel is when the shows began airing on two different networks. But that also meant fewer crossovers, so I wouldn’t think the order would be as much of a problem anymore. But I haven’t investigated that, so I’ll defer to those who have and whom you’ve likely already checked with. 😁
From the start of the episode, you know Angel will not be keeping the ring one way or another: him being virtually unkillable makes things too easy going forward. So, the episode really comes down to what happens to the ring, and destroying it was the smart play. Keeping it/hiding it risks Angelus or some other vampire winding up with the ring. Plus, from a fighting perspective, you don't want a crutch like that: you'd eventually get comfortable putting yourself into a position where you depend on it (just like Spike and the torturer both did the second they got it), and then someone takes it from you. 12:50 Probably my favorite moment of the reaction. The torturer is saying some dark stuff about pain teaching us who we are, and you're just innocently nodding along. I know you're probably nodding to something else that happened right before the cut and the timing is all out of whack. Still, it made me giggle, so thank you for that.
I've seen a few reactions to this episode and you are the first I've seen that doubted right away that Angel would wear it. My thoughts were more like yours - too much power. I thought right away of Angelus. I am not sure the reasons Angel stated for not wearing it were actually all that good, but I like my own reasons lol.
It just wouldn't happen, sadly 😞 it would be amazing to have Angel out there in safety with the ring, but something like that would make a lot of the story obsolete and not as exciting if he's not in danger. Plus, I really didn't think Angel would be interested in it. It's a shame, it would have kept him safe. You're right though, if Angelus got out and was wearing the ring.... BOY HOWDY.
I glad the alternating watch order is working for you! I always enjoy the Spike/Angel(us) dynamic. Great reaction as always, hope you have a wonderful week!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Do keep in mind that the cross episodes doesn't always line up Jules, which is part of the reason the 'guide' was made. You do you though girl, whatever works for you and your channel :]
There are some times the one of each doesn't work, make sure you keep an eye on the watch order there will be some times you need to do a few episodes of one or the other.
Yep, definitely need to get myself on the Angel re-watch train :) This is better than I recall - I think, in part, I was a bit put off by the Batman vibes but also, as I said before, it was a lot darker than Buffy and that didn't sit well with me at the time.
There are a lot of Batman vibes in the beginning! I'm nearing halfway through the first season and it does ease up a little. I think maybe they did that at the beginning to get people interested, perhaps!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much 💜🥰💜 You are incredible!! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity and for making my day ten times better 😸💜
There are a couple of two-parters where you might decide to watch both in a row and then watch 2 episodes of the other show to keep on track. Obviously, you’ll know when you get there.
Yeah, I haven't decided what to do yet about the two parters! I don't usually watch the Doctor Who ones in a row as I don't have time but I do try to watch them close together ☺️
Hi Jules! This will be rather short. When Cordelia aimed the crossbow at Spike, did you also flinch, when Spike said "arrow" and "bow" instead of "bolt" and "crossbow"? Have a wonderful day.
@danilopapais1464 ahh yes, my gaming channel is xjuliettex ☺️ or I have a link to it on this RUclips page! Currently, we are playing Spiderman 2 and Black Ops 🤩
Angel is just a man with a "disability." He is absolutely terrified of Angelus. The idea of Angelus with the Gem is enough to make Angel be willing to die.
Only a month old reaction and I just hit the episode in my rewatch yesterday. Looks like I'll catch up to you soon.;) I am quite disappointed with Spike in this episode. He's usually so good at reading people (and vampires) that his getting blindsided by his hired torturer stealing the Gem of Amara is kind of lame for him. And why hire a vampire to torture the location of the gem from Angel? Were there no demons who could have done the task, or even humans? The gem would be useless to them, much less temptation, And if he used a human? Well, he could have the human for dinner afterwards, a double win. So, yeah, Spike is handled badly in this episode. Angel's justification for destroying the gem was a weak one, IMO. Staying in the dark to cover the nighttime threats? Yeah, I can see that, but having the gem available for use when needed, could be handy. Still, I can sort of see it if he doesn't trust himself not to turn his back on his mission if he has it.
I really get annoyed by the continuity error between Spike and Cordelia. Spike has never met Cordelia and never even found out that she exists. But here, he's all chummy with her as if they've met before. I notice little errors like that.
I don't really see it as a continuity error. They may never have been formally introduced, but he did spy on Buffy and her circle as a way of getting to know his enemy. Plus, they were in the same room in "Halloween" when he tried to kill Buffy before Ethan's spell was broken. Also, she was there on Parent-Teacher night in "School Hard" and in "What's My Line, part 2" she was there in the church helping Xander kill the maggot-assassin, so even if they didn't have much dialogue between them, he still had to know who she was and that she was part of the gang.
It's Monday and time for more Angel fresh from Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Cordelia in L.A. and special guests Seth Green and James Marsters this is really great and i hope you have an wonderful week Thank You my Friend Juliette.🇦🇺🐈⬛🇦🇺🦇🇦🇺🐈⬛🇦🇺
The Gem of Amara Ring is from BTVS S4 episode. This is why it really make sense to watch both shows in the correct watch order as they are both linked with crossover plots, characters and storylines. Many felt it was wrong of Angel to destroy the ring, but of course it could have fallen into evil hands again. Some great little comedy moments again, especially with Doyle and Cordelia. Great to see Spike back again as he is a pivotal character in The Buffyverse. Angel is a much darker show, but its very best episodes match anything from BTVS. Here it is interesting seeing Spike chasing The Gem of Amara, as Buffy wants Angel to have it to make him invincible. Angel even though he has tasted 'daylight' knows that the ring could fall into the wrong hands again and so must destroy it, again making him possibly the most tragic character in The Buffyverse. Great to see Oz crossover as well as Spike, and the wonderfully awkward meeting again of Oz and Cordelia.
Yes, I watched the Buffy episode featuring the ring before I watched this one! I'm watching in the correct order as Angel aired immediately after Buffy for the first two seasons. After that, I might swap to broadcast date watch order 😊 I am LOVING Angel so, so much. It's a lot better than I ever expected! It's been brilliant seeing Angel and Cordelia evolve into something so much more than they were on Buffy 💜
And of course, once the vampire community??? heard that Angel had the ring they would flock to L.A. to try to get it, giving Angel and company no peace (not that they get much of that).
With the exception of a couple placed BtVS S2 moments, this is the first major time Spike and Angel have major time spent together in an episode. Most of the time it's been Spike and Angelus for the most part or minor Spike and Angel moments. It's odd that's what the viewing audience has had considering their history. Angel definitely didn't consider the fact that he would need to be around during the day for mythological situations. I feel he was looking at the situation as too white and black. Human stuff is handled in daylight. Mythological stuff during the night. That is not entirely true. I don't think he looks at it from all the angles he claims to see it from.
I was never a fan af this show, even though I am a huge Buffy fan. That said, I do enjoy watching your reaction. I make me at least appreciate it more.🙂👍
Not one of my favourite cross-overs. Invulnerable Angel transforms from Batman to Superman and Superman is boring. From a plot point of view this device doesn't work. Love the Angel-Oz blase off. Good to see you. hope you have been fine. Probably could have just said "S'up?" 'S'up with you?" Spike is hilarious. Angel and Spike play off each other very well. Really though an actual person would keep the ring. Oz is calling someone pale? Really?
"An actual person would keep the ring." Maybe not if that actual person was one bad day away from turning into a serial killer who enjoys mentally breaking the people closest to him before killing them. You really don't want your Hyde to be completely invincible. Destroying the ring is much more understandable if you keep Angelus in mind. Also, I'm really not sure that the Batman/Superman analogy works. Angel is *already* a Superman - he has super strength and super senses and is invulnerable to most things that would kill a human, while being weak to a couple of things that most humans aren't harmed by at all. The Batman similarities are in his aesthetics and angst, not his power level. A completely invincible hero is indeed boring if the story tries to get tension out of whether or not they'll die, but Superman isn't invincible either and many of the best Superman stories either hinge more on emotional drama than stakes, or make him even more OP and just make that _fun._
@@Talisguy Fair enough. I'd have kept the ring. Having the ring would have ruined the show. Every Villain would be running around looking for Kryptonite.
Team Spike,Angelus is a failure as a man,a monster,and a mediocere hero.Spike's character arc was better,Marsters is a better actor,with a more realistic,relateable character depiction.Corvine Crusader
Spike's arc was better paced, everthing he did was his own choices.Angelus's whole gimmick was a forced redemption arc done a thousand times before. Corvine Crusader
Spike's snarkiness is the perfect juxtaposition to Angel's broodiness. I always love it when he shows up, hope we see more of him.
I hope so, too!! I thought we'd see Oz in this one, but seeing Spike was a real treat 😄
Cordelia:"Oz? Oh my god! Oz! Good old Oz! Oz...Oz!"(points at Oz)
Doyle:"I guess you'd be Oz."
Oz:"Good guess..."
XD!
It's such a fun way to introduce a character on a spin-off show in case people haven't watched Buffy 🤣
"why is he hesitating ?"
Because he realises that Angelus + Gem of Amara would be VERY bad & he knows there is no guarantee that at some point Angelus won't get free again.
SO TRUE!!! He was right to destroy it, sadly 😞
Angel .... yaaa .... dark angel with Jessica Alba reaction nothing ?
Juliet's giggling during spikes commentary just made me happy. It's cool to see some one enjoy and "get" a show and a universe that's given me so much over the years. Have a good week, Jules. See you Friday.
It was such a great moment!! The Angel Mobile! I just adore silly banter and poking gentle fun at people. I'm glad you enjoyed 💜
The bit with Spike at the start taking the piss out of Angel never gets old. Excellent episode demonstrating how Angel the Series has a different tone from Buffy - not better, just different. So glad you're enjoying it, Jules.
It was one of my favourite moments! I can't help but love Spike. I know he's a naughty boy, but gosh darn, he's a lot of fun too!
That bit is one of my favorites, funnier to me than most TV I've seen.
They used the "Cameos" pretty well in this one. Andf the end shows exactly the difference between Buffy and Agel. One is a show about growing up and finding yourself, the other one a show about being a grown up and how to live with your decisions in life.
I’ve followed other reactors that go by a watch guide but I watched them when they aired back to back and that way works fine.
That is good to know 😊😊
The _Buffy_ episode is named, "The Harsh Light of Day". This _Angel_ episode is named, "In the Dark." It's not just a crossover, they're thematically linked.
Omg! That beginning with Spike🤣😂The dude is soooo funny! 💯💥
Fantastic episode thanks so much Juliette💞
I loved that part with Spike!! It's definitely my kind of humour. Silly and playful 😜 Thank you, Texman! Have a good day 💜
spike narating angel in the beginning is so funny. classic spike scene.
I loved that so much!!
One odd thing about this episode that sticks out to me is the air of familiarity that Spike displays with Cordelia. They have literally never interacted before and its almost surprising he even knows who she is.
I'd think he knows of her as he's been aware of Buffy & Co for years, and he is also very charismatic so can probably talk to just about anyone 🤣
Weird how my mind works....
HAHAHAHA this is awesome 🤣 I never thought of it like that! I love the way your mind works!!
And how many endings
"No, not the hair! NEVER the hair!!"
Hello Juliette 👋
Angel was very quick in deciding to destroy the ring.
HAHAHA!! It was awesome 🤣🤣
Please tell me you named your plane The Angel Mobile!

Sadly, at the time, I had to look up the term laconic to get Oz' joke.
The faith reference was faith, not Faith.
My goodness, I am living for the insider information!! This is just incredible to read. Thank you, endlessly 💜
@@julesreacts This is bringing back a bunch of memories of a good time in my life. :)
For the most part (especially the first couple seasons), Buffy and Angel episodes were shown in this order. Buffy was on at 8:00 on Tuesdays and Angel was on at 9:00. Later, they might get a little out of order this way, but I think it works out generally.
Yeah, that's what I've heard! I might change to broadcast order during Angel season 3 maybe!
Watching Buffy and Angel in alternating episodes is how we watched them when they first aired. If it's working for you that's great. I also prefer having a taste of each story at a time rather than get overloaded with one or the other.
Thank you! That's what I feel, too. Most people seem okay with it, thankfully!
I laughed so hard when Oz mentioned how pale Angel is while Oz looks paler than Angel.
Yes!! They both are super pale 🤣
You might just have to start that 🤣
These two shows used to come on the air so that Buffy was on first in the order. So it makes sense that it is watched in that order. I will say that Spike doing the dialogue for Angel and the Rachel were having was so very funny! Oz "catching up" with Cordelia was funny as well. And then again when his soliloquy was interrupted by his head catching fire from the sun... hilarious!
Sooo many good moments in this episode 🤣
Spikes narration at the beginning reminds me of an old comedy game show called Who's Line Is It Anyway. One of the competitions they sometimes did was having 2 of the comedians speak the lines of a movie with the sound turned down, but they were making up the lines on the spot. And they'd come up with dialog not that different from what Spike was doing there.
Nice little “2 part episode” over both shows the titles of both episodes connect “harsh light of day” and “in the dark”
I absolutely LOVED how the episodes came together!!
Spike cracks me up, mocking Angel from the rooftop. "Now I'm just a biiiiiiiiiig fluffy puppy... quick! To the Angelmobile, and away!" 😆🤣
I also like Angel's dry humor, especially at the end with Doyle: "One more hot poker, I was giving up the ring... your mom... how is your mom?" Heeeeeee.
They know exactly what Buffy was doing in that last episode 🤣
Thank you, Cat! I hope you have a lovely week 💜☺️
6:58 Not the first time Spike threw away a plan because he wanted to get straight to the violence. Nice little nod to School Hard.... one of my favourite episodes. "But I just got so bored."
Bored now 😜
@@julesreacts😁 Must be a vampire thing. No screaming and no violence make Willow & Spike.... something something.
Spike is always great. At one point, a Spike spin-off series was planned but sadly never happened. Just going forward, block off the bottom of the screen just while actors' credits are rolling. Fine for this one, but in future episodes, you can get spoiled by actors' names being revealed before being on screen.
I do try my best to not look down the bottom 😅
I LOVE THE CROSS OVERS! I am so excited 🤣 I am having the best time with Angel! I feel so at home watching it 🥰
I absolutely LOVE the crossover events
Saaaame 🥰🥰
Hello, Jules!💜
A great beginning, 🤣and it carries through to a great ending as well.🥲 I'm thinking you'll enjoy bits of this one. Let's see.😊
Happy to see you truly surprised at Spike's presence in the opening.😊 Hilarious dialogue. Actually a very funny episode, in a number of spots. Doyle is always full of sarcastic wit, Cordelia and her "Invoice", Spike and his uncontrollably angry speeches, Oz and Cordelia "catching up", but my favorite two jokes here today, are both from Oz.🤣
"They always like this?" "No we're usually laconic"😂
and later - the whole "pale" bit - Oz - a red-head calling out Angel for being so "incredibly pale".😅
But, once again, Oz saves the day, he was indeed "key" here, and it was a great scene when he burst in. Hopefully he gets enough money from his LA gig to get his van repaired.😂
Excellent theories, questions, and observations, throughout this episode today, Jules. You're always on top of all the details. 🤔🥰
"What are the odds they look under that particular brick?" "How are you going to get that ring back off this invincible guy?", and the best "How do you know he doesn't care about the ring?"
And, I dare say, your purely Rhetorical questions here and there, leave the little members of the Spoiler Nation, drooling and scrambling through the dark, thinking of ways to be clever with telling quote phrases, not so clever "hints", or outright bursting at the seam reveals once they can no longer stand not being 1st to let you know all they know about it. On some level, they seem just a tad like Marcus, from this episode. 🤭
As you point out, whilst the viewing of both series, back and forth, add a level of enjoyment, or even immersion on a limited scale, it is not necessary to do so.
Oh no, now I've made myself sad 🤣 because I worry about him and just hope he will be okay and because this is a Joss program, I still very much anticipate no one being there by the end 🤣😭
I hope you've had a most wonderful day, dear Tom 🤗💜
7:09 Angel could have just told Spike that he destroyed it… even if he didn’t.
Yeah, that is so true!
I think they did it on purpose 😅
🤣🤣 oh geez, sometimes the edits have me smiling or laughing to things that aren't appropriate for the next lines to come!
I think I'm going to slow down on my first Angel watch until you get closer. Then I can watch lazily and you can fill in the gaps with your insights.
Lazy watching always works hehe
How did Spike know that Buffy was giving the ring to Angel and how did he find him so fast LA is a big city
Magic Spike powers!
@@julesreacts aha😁
BOY HOWDY.
I know it's probably me but Spike just seemed more...cruel and sadistic here than in BtVS. It's like being on Angel upped his evil-ness somehow 😅
Ha! Yes! He might feel the need to ramp it up and put on a display for Angel 🤣
I glad the alternating watch order is working for you!
I always enjoy the Spike/Angel(us) dynamic.
Great reaction as always, hope you have a wonderful week!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Becca 🩵💜 thank you so much! I am so grateful for you ☺️
Love this episode
I'm glad you are enjoying it, we are enjoying your reactions :D
Thank you so much, Joel! Very appreciated 💜
Do keep in mind that the cross episodes doesn't always line up Jules, which is part of the reason the 'guide' was made.
You do you though girl, whatever works for you and your channel :]
Thank you 😊 the first two seasons of Angel had the episodes airing alternating so I'm good for a bit!
There are some times the one of each doesn't work, make sure you keep an eye on the watch order there will be some times you need to do a few episodes of one or the other.
From what I can gather, the first two seasons of Angel had the Angel episodes airing immediately after Buffy, so I'm good for a while!
Still team Spike.
Another great reaction, Juliette 💜.
Thank you!! 😊💜
Yep, definitely need to get myself on the Angel re-watch train :)
This is better than I recall - I think, in part, I was a bit put off by the Batman vibes but also, as I said before, it was a lot darker than Buffy and that didn't sit well with me at the time.
There are a lot of Batman vibes in the beginning! I'm nearing halfway through the first season and it does ease up a little. I think maybe they did that at the beginning to get people interested, perhaps!
Love your doctor who reactions 😊 hope this helps you out in some way 😊 you’re so sweet and my favourite reactor keep up the great content
Oh my goodness, thank you so much 💜🥰💜 You are incredible!! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity and for making my day ten times better 😸💜

Thank you so much 💜
There are a couple of two-parters where you might decide to watch both in a row and then watch 2 episodes of the other show to keep on track. Obviously, you’ll know when you get there.
Only if Jules is impatient. The original aired order gets you where you need to go with exciting anticipation.
Yeah, I haven't decided what to do yet about the two parters! I don't usually watch the Doctor Who ones in a row as I don't have time but I do try to watch them close together ☺️
I do like that feeling of being excited for the next episode! Streaming sort of ruins that these days 😅
Hi Jules!
This will be rather short.
When Cordelia aimed the crossbow at Spike, did you also flinch, when Spike said "arrow" and "bow" instead of "bolt" and "crossbow"?
Have a wonderful day.
Aww I get those terms mixed up in my gaming videos all the time 🤣 same with shotgun shells, I usually say bullets haha
@@julesreacts I have so far only seen Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Twisted Metal reactions from you, do you also have recordings of games you played?

@@julesreacts Nice, that way I know what to watch, if todays test is still positive.
Angel is just a man with a "disability." He is absolutely terrified of Angelus. The idea of Angelus with the Gem is enough to make Angel be willing to die.
Wow..... that's honestly so terrifying 😭
Only a month old reaction and I just hit the episode in my rewatch yesterday. Looks like I'll catch up to you soon.;)
I am quite disappointed with Spike in this episode.
Oooh you will be caught up in no time ✨️ great thoughts, thank you for sharing!!
Awesome video as always dude!
Glad you enjoyed!
It's Monday and time for more Angel fresh from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Hello Jules
Hello!
She watched "The Harsh Light of Day" before she watched this episode.
Yes, I watched the Buffy episode featuring the ring before I watched this one! I'm watching in the correct order as Angel aired immediately after Buffy for the first two seasons. After that, I might swap to broadcast date watch order 😊
I am LOVING Angel so, so much.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤🤗🤗
I make me at least appreciate it more.🙂👍
Oh thank you, Matthew! I think it's amazing 👏 I was worried at first as a few people said they didn't like it but I'm having a blast!
And can't watch 1 show with out watching the other 1
Not one of my favourite cross-overs. Invulnerable Angel transforms from Batman to Superman and Superman is boring. From a plot point of view this device doesn't work.
Love the Angel-Oz blase off. Good to see you. hope you have been fine. Probably could have just said "S'up?" 'S'up with you?"
Spike is hilarious. Angel and Spike play off each other very well.
Really though an actual person would keep the ring.
Oz is calling someone pale? Really?
"An actual person would keep the ring."
Maybe not if that actual person was one bad day away from turning into a serial killer who enjoys mentally breaking the people closest to him before killing them.
Yeah, I do agree that having the ring in play would have ruined the story. It would have just been the main focal point 😞
Team Spike,Angelus is a failure as a man,a monster,and a mediocere hero.Spike's character arc was better,Marsters is a better actor,with a more realistic,relateable character depiction.Corvine Crusader

This comment was unnecessary and untrue.
