This just shows how bad his accent actually was. When you're watching it as it airs or even as a binge, it develops and gets better. But once you step back, it's so forced and unrealistic even in the final season. I'd argue its actually worse than Angel's "Irish" accent. That was truly painful.
Spike is american , his voice prob dubbed...his english insults were too english and not known by americans...such as gormless...maybe the writers were trying to impress the Brits who were big fans of buffy..
No it was actually him doing the voice, he just had coaching from Anthony Stewart Head AKA Giles, who's real accent is pretty darn close to what Spike's is. ASH probably made some suggestions about the English insults to make it more realistic.
Angel and Cordelia work great together on the show, Spike was just an annoying character that I hated. But he was funny in one episode where Angel became a muppet. 😂
