    What a neat channel idea! I'll think of something interesting now to do I'd love to see... 🤔
    1min later: pop its. In America they are tiny white paper bags filled with gravel and a tiny bit of explosive powder that ignites when thrown on the ground. A sheet of them in a ziplock bag would be neat as each might go at different rates of compression, or do a vacation effect etc.
    Another thought is to create stronger bags for compression. To do this, later multiple plastic bags with ripstop nylon cloth, or cloth in general. This reduces punctures and drastically increases strength.
    Lastly, for some real fun compress a hollow thin copper tube with plastic over both ends. When one side only fails it shoots out a jet. When an external frame with pin that punctures the other side after one is broken (caused by movement of the pipe) the jets should meet in middle and blow the center apart.
    Also interesting would be some biological experiments. Let some sugar water ferment in one ziplock bag for a week at the same time an identically prepared bag is kept under pressure. Compare gas production.

    This is exactly how ancient Polynesian people broke open coconuts, except they used whale bladders instead of ziplok bags. They would put large stones to weight the bladder down (filled with dozens of coconuts) using woven vine rope. There are ancient cave wall paintings showing the process.

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  3 месяца назад +3

      I thought they just strike it with a sharp rock... But the whale bladder with 650m of woven vine rope does sound plausible.

    Have you thought about using vacuum sealer bags rather than ziplock bags? I think you would get a clearer initial image, and potentially a better seal.

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah. This was actually the third attempt. The first time I tried it, I coated the coconut with epoxy and it sprung a leak at 297m and nothing happened. The second time, I used a fresh coconut with two zip locs and the bag leaked at 146m. Then I went with five and it worked. The vacuum sealer bag was the back up plan. I figured I would keep the footage since the coconut imploded at the right angle facing the camera and technically, it is the first imploded coconut. But going forward, I'll probably try out the vacuum bags especially on sharper objects that might easily puncture the seal.

    I've heard that lobsters are commercially deshelled using high pressure. I'd be interested in seeing how that works.

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  3 месяца назад

      I was reading up on the process. They actually throw live lobsters into a high pressure chamber at 44,000 to 60,000 psi to severe the tissue joining the meat to the shell. I'm pretty sure a video from the inside won't fly on RUclips... I might try dissolving a bone with pressure but even that might be a bit edgy.

    Btw love your content

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  3 месяца назад +7

      Thanks! The incident happened in June and at that point the design was already done and I was getting the parts machined. I will be doing an episode on carbon fiber hulls but probably a year after the incident out of respect.

    Man I love this channel. Could we do do a mini sub ?

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  2 месяца назад

      Yep. I'm thinking of 3d printing exact models of famous subs in metal that includes the structural frame inside, all to scale. Curious to see if we could see the implosion failure in miniature. I need to do a bit more research with that episode so it would be later.
