So I’m looking to purchase a base 2006 C6 and it has a noise/rub when taking a hard left. Was told by a mechanic it’s a rear diff issue and needs to be replaced. Seems they are discontinued, can only find replacements on eBay. I don’t mind replacing it but I wonder if it needs to be replaced. Where are you located? Thanks
Personally, I wouldn't go with the used unit on eBay, as most likely it's not better than yours. The problem with clutch plates is very common. I would rather rebuild the current unit. Love to do the job for you, but we are based in Serbia, Europe. You need to find some Corvette specialist to take the diff out. The rest is easy and we can supply parts.
Thank you for this video. When im going 4th in 5th gear (250km+) I get speed wobble every time. It feels like the clutch lets go when shifting 4th into 5th, then the car dips down and veers over a lane (very sketch). I have to counter steer just to go straight. I have literally done everything possible to fix that issue but I think its the clutches in the differential to cause that "speed wobble" im getting. Also, im breaking lots of axles while doing dig racing, I don't know if that is related to the slipping clutch or not. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, been dealing with this since 2019 summer.
Greetings! Such speed wobble might be caused by diff clutches. If they lost inneer splines, or friction material your diff acts completely like an opened diff. In this case it just can't transmit all your power to the ground.
If both clutch packs are toast would that keep the car from moving when releasing the transmission clutch? I drained the rear diff and it had a lot of gold glider in it from the clutch pack.

Hi. Do i hammer the factory safety pin up or down that holds the central pin and its sleeve in my 05 crv rear differential? (To remove it)
It is hammered from the bottom(flat surface) btw. For those working on their crv rear.
