I’ve been researching retro handhelds for months now… Today, I finally bought the Trimui Smart Pro. Your videos on it were definitely decisive factors on making this decision. You’ve definitely earned your reputation in this scene!
I just installed crossmix on mine and it has a built in scraper which makes everything so easy for getting the game artwork etc. The stock os didn't have that so if someone wanted to set up their own romslist before crossmix existed that would have been a very tedious task. I love this device! If you get it from aliexpress in a sale it's an absolute bargain. I got mine for just under £50 delivered to the UK. 😁
I love you TechDweeb! I'm slowly putting together my own retro tech shrine to relive my childhood safe space. One of the most valuable things I've learned is connecting to my inner child, and creating the environment little me loved helps with that.
Dweeb's humour ("you should start a fire...!") is the reason i subscribed to his channel over the 1000s of others. It's quality content, don't get me wrong, but it's what tips the balance imo.
Bought mine on amazon... no box came with it, but hardcase was incl. Was a bit worried bout it... but been a month and works and plays great. Used daily...
The "ultimate" trimui smart pro is : 1. Crossmix os 2. Upgraded battery to 6000mah ( as long as the battery size fit) 3. Heatsink on cpu (not stock thermal pad)
Idk man, they're asking $116 with a 256gb card, plus shipping? I think I'm gonna have to stick with the one I got for 50 bucks. I got it specifically for the value and quality. It has a 256gb too, lol. Maybe not configured as well, but I can handle that!
Could be worth it to someone who’s rich and has kids etc./doesn’t have time to do the setup work. Personally I think it’s always worth it to get your own collection of games together and set them up yourself with guides. That’s half the fun for me!
@@Ag45727At this price I feel like a retroid pocket 3+ would be a better choice just for the extra performance, or spend a tad bit more on a regular rp4. At the regular 50-60 dollar price though this is super nice.
I bought the Trimui Smart Pro as my first retro handheld last winter based on your video. Have to say I've been super pleased with it. So much so i want to go back and get this "remix"
Ok this is dope! I would LOVE to see more retailers do custom builds like this! It's a fantastic way to show how dedicated to the scene they are and how much passion they have for it all. Great work @litnxt!
The TrimUI Smart Pro is my favorite go to device, when I don't have time to pull out my Switch or my SteamDeck. Love this and play it often. Thanks. (Oh, I've had mine for about 6 weeks now).
Great analysis! I liked that you gave your honest opinion, even in points you didn't like, such as the ports games. You can see that it's an honest review, congratulations!
Best intro for a video ever! It's so good I'm scared to go outside now. Though that's ok as going to get a TrimUI Smart Pro so I'll never have to leave my home again.
So nice to see my fav cheap 5" handheld get upgrades! It's so much fun to use as is though, so this might not be needed by me...but still this is really cool and $40 for a good SD card(!!) and this OS might be worth a try. Thanks for the heads up Mr. Dweeb!
If you had $100, and you didn't have a steam deck, and you don't have any other handhelds, this is pretty amazing as a SINGLE device for a good price. However, this kinda sits in between on power too. I would rather have a cheaper smaller more pocket friendly device in this category OR save for a stronger more ergonomic handheld... this one is kinda sitting in the middle. It's seemingly well priced, but not for me.
Yeah that's a good way to put it. That's why I called it the 'jack of all trades' device. It's not amazing at any one thing, but it does lots of things good, so it'd be good for someone who doesn't have other devices for dedicated purposes.
I just bought a TrimUI Smart Pro last week! Bought it with no SD card though. I plan to get my own, probably a 512GB SandDisk or Samsung card, load it with my own 1g1r set, and do the rom scraping myself. Also planning to use Crossmix. Should be a fantastic little system! Oh speaking of which, make sure to switch it from OpenGL rendering to Vulkan wherever possible, especially for heavier 3D systems. With Vulkan enabled, 90% of PSP games *should* work at 2x rendering with no frameskip and still maintain full speed. I imagine Dreamcast will also not need frameskip, if it has Vulkan rendering as an option (though I'm not positive if it does)...
I totally don't need one of these but they're like $50 on Aliexpress right now and I have an addiction to buying these lower cost handhelds just so I have something to tinker with for a few days lol.
With all these handhelds coming out, I'm thinking of getting one for my friend for Christmas so he'll have something to do at work when he's just not doing stuff and on his phone, and now i'm thinking between the Miyoo Mini plus, Anbernic RG40XX, and now this. Not sure what to get him now these handhelds are all kinda the same but vastly different at the same time.
This might be the retro handheld for me! A lot of cheaper ones don't have Turbografx 16 but this one does and it's friendly to less techy dweebs who just want to play the games...it sounded like PlayStation games actually have music!
@@TechDweebthere seems to be some delay with them shipping out. I've sent them many correspondence in a early hard one correspondence via somebody called Joey who said it would ship out within a day. And it's been a few days since receiving that email. They must be overwhelmed.

Hey Dweeb, Glad to see you playing Chinatown Wars, its always been one of my favourite games to play on handhelds. I recently tried to install my legit android copy that I bought form the play store and I got a message saying that I had to send Rockstar proof of purchase via email receipt (for a game a I bought 8 years ago) otherwise I have to pay for their shit*y subscription because they have put it behind a paywall. So out of principle I make sure to pirate it on every single system I possibly can. Which is annoying because I would rather buy premium games that arent full of ads, but these days developers either stop supporting them or make them impossible to play, it doesn't make sense for it to be easier to pirate a game than to actually buy it. Anyway rant over. Keep up the good work and I'm glad to see you have stopped abusing Wall-E. He's a good guy and he only slept with your mum twice and she instiagted it (at least that's what I heard) so you cant really blame the little fella.
@patriksretrotech Not for me. I had to update to the latest Trimui firmware before I could complete the Cross Mix os upgrade. Not a big deal, that was my experience with it. Cross mix is well worth the time.
