especially when she has doubts! It is very interesting to follow to thought process of professional climbers, and seeing that they do have to overcome the same mental barriers (at another level, compared to us mere mortals) that sometimes get us down. There are some nice articles on the circuit climbing on this from Stasa that are also very nice. (it is very interesting to see all the mental/physical preparation and downs that go into a very good performance). And, yes kajsa is really lovely to watch while climbing, and hear her thoughts on that.
Love the moonboard, very useful tool. Two suggestions: - try the "benchmark" problems (grade is then confirmed) - publish the nanes of the problems tried so that we can try them as well Great videos, keep it up
A gym here in USA (Kansas city, MO) just built a moon board and I was able to climb on it this weekend. Was a sick training area for bouldering. There were four routes just put up, some V3 - V10 routes. I look forward to going back and making a valiant attempt on those.
Dream scenario: 1. Nikken being able to compete in world cups. 2. Nikken and Kajsa meeting on problems side by side. 3. Both of them topping. 4. They did some sort of celebration ritual together for topping.
I would love to see a video about how the Moonboard works. Is it app-based and how is it programmed? Can you only choose pre-setted routes via smartphone?
Wow super cool to see you guys trying out the moonboard!!! I live in Colorado and i love using it! Nikken should try to onsight School's out (soft 7c+), and i made a pretty dumb soft 7c called keepyourselfstrong. I think it is always cool to try Ben Moon's problems since they are all "classics". Love your videos and sorry for not commenting before. You guys totally inspire me!!
Great episode love the moonboard. Would be cool if you could display the name of the route on the moonboard if you do more episodes with it. Oh and Nikken looked really strong there :D.
Really like to see the training videos. I'd like to see what kind of stuff you work on with a symmetrical system wall. By the way, Quote of the day from Eric " Jes, Thats So Big!"
Hey hey... awesome videos. Great inspiration. I was wondering tho, you all have amazing physique, what are your diets like? Is there a plan you could point me towards? Thanks! definitely subbed!
Eric! I was just thinking of something 10.30 there is a really chill song. Do u have a public Spotify or Soundcloud list!? :D Epic content btw. found the channel not to long ago 25k subs somewhere. but been watching several of the old videos every day. Its a sweet channel! :)
Totally get what Kajsa means about the negative thoughts... Have the same thing with jumps because i was never very athletic growing up - and I go into dynos and running stuff with a much different mindset than if I just turned off the thoughts :-)
Yeah I think two things in the video are just proofs he's really a beast. First moon board problems obviously (and how easily he holds on to those horrible crimps!), and also the fact that he's climbing as good - well, even better that day - than Kajsa, who is a world class climber (competing in world cups and stuff). One of the most impressive displays of strength by Nikken on Erik's videos I think!
Tarsiz not saying Nikken is not a beast. In my eyes he sure is, but being a stronger male climber than a female climber with a higher international rank doesn't really display the strenght of a climber that much. same as in any other sport, men are just stronger. pretty sure you can be strong enough to make it in to womens finals, and strugle to reach men semifinals.
Well pofkeltlt I think climbing actually is one of the sports where the difference between men and women is the smallest. If you take tennis, any man ranked in the top 500 will beat Serena Williams any day, because tennis is much more dependant on strength than climbing is. In climbing, things such as finger strength, power/weigth ratio, balance and flexibility also play huge roles. There is still a difference and the very elite of male climbers are still stronger than the strongest female climbers but I feel the difference isn't huge. You also have competitions such as CLIFF, where, for qualifications, all climbers climb the same boulders and are awarded a certain amount of points based on how quick (in attempts) they top it. Petra Klingler topped the women's field and even though she wouldn't have made the top 20 for men, she was extremely close (like 21st or 22nd). So, not saying Nikken is not a beast (he definitely is), but for example I highly doubt he would make it to women's finals.
1. this is extremely weird, because i just read about Serena Williams fight wight with 203 (something like that) ranked male, and loosing, an him stating that they could beat for sure some one below 500. and later they went up to believe the should win against against people below 350. :D 2. I have to disagree on " difference between men and women is the smallest. " about climbing. From what i read about ultratons, the ultraruining community has the smallest difference, between male and female results, and more then once women have defeated men. In climbing i think the difference is way more visible,. my personal example is, that i could (barely) , or at least would be pretty close make it to my national teem in female climbing, but I'm not even close to making it in the male category. and a more international example, only recently have female climbers reached the level of 9a+ (and yeah outside rock climbing, is really different from competition climbing, but still (and we don't really have a different way to compare, as there doesn't seem to be competitions, with mix finals (at least not that i know of) while males are already working with 9b+. 3. About Nikken making in to women's finals, i don't know, he doesn't seem like a competition climber to me (might be wrong, but he seems to be a really strong crimper, while competition climbing seems to be shifting from crimps, to mostly slopers and pinches) in the style he climbs. But if that's his preferred style, i think semifinals, definitely, finals would be more of a question (and depends are we talking about lead or bouldering). And if we assume him to be stronger then Kajsa in other categories, as he seems to be in bouldering, then, well semifinals is a given, finals would be a question. Don't get me wrong, in my eyes, Kajsa is an amazing climber, an just as much of a beast as Nikken and definitely a much stronger climber then me, but there is a reason men and women in the end, in the highest professional level compete separately. 4. feels a bit weird and funny discussing other people, that we don't know :D i think the whole conversation seems silly and funny to them :D 5. in conclusion, while we may disagree on some things, we can both agree, that they are amazing climbers, and a really fun combo to see climb together :)
This Moon board idea is pretty sick. How do you choose the route? is it connected to an app or something? Also love Nikken and Kajsa together! plus Great editing Eric
Sean Pollock A moon board is a standardized climbing wall, meaning it's the same holds in the same place at every gym. There's an app that tells you the holds and the lights are so you know what route you're doing. Also I'm super jealous of those lights, because we don't have that at my gym you just have to remember the holds.
there's a site online that has a bunch of boulders that people made on the mooneboard. the mooneboard is exactly the same everywhere in the world, so it's a way for people to share their boulders and have them be critiqued by people across the world. additionally, people can grade the problems from everywhere, so the problems have very even and fair grades. the lights show which holds are on or not for this particular problem. hope this helped!
The only holds you can use are those lighting up even for your feet. Except for at the start where you can also use the yellow in the bottom for your feet
big swing daddy is my climb! That was some sneaky beta for the first move. Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for bringing Kajsa back!! I love her! such great inspiration, even when she has doubts

kajsa and nikken the dream team.. =) awesome video as always!!
Kajsa is the best! Can't wait to see more of her.
I love the way Nikken's back at 10:02 goes from just broad and pretty smooth to absolutely rippling with muscle in like 10 seconds. STRONG.
Love the moonboard, very useful tool. Two suggestions:
- try the "benchmark" problems (grade is then confirmed)

Great videos, keep it up
1 - big swing daddy 7c+(7c)
2 - shoulder move 8a (7c)
thanks, what was the last one ? (7a+)
The lights for the holds are so cool :)
"try harder , jump a little bit further, pull harder" -climbing goals
Bring back kajsa!
Looks hard! If only the moonboard came with moon gravity :)
It's a mental gameee, confidence is key! You can do it Kajsa!
A gym here in USA (Kansas city, MO) just built a moon board and I was able to climb on it this weekend. Was a sick training area for bouldering. There were four routes just put up, some V3 - V10 routes. I look forward to going back and making a valiant attempt on those.
Just wanted to say I think the editing quality just keeps getting better and better. Keep it up! Really nice effing videos.
That moon board is sick. I love the lights, such a good idea.
Love watching the moonboard sesh! felt so cool to watch you guys send problems and send them with you!
Dream scenario:
1. Nikken being able to compete in world cups.
2. Nikken and Kajsa meeting on problems side by side.
3. Both of them topping.
4. They did some sort of celebration ritual together for topping.
Didn't I see this filming on Kajsa's story earlier today? Mad editing speed!

Congrats on 30k! Love your channel, keep up the hard work, and I think the idea of traveling to new gyms is great!
I would love to see a video about how the Moonboard works. Is it app-based and how is it programmed? Can you only choose pre-setted routes via smartphone?

Super inspiring guys.
8:59 nice flash nikken xD
can you do a behind the scenes tech focused video? (new equipment and so forth) would be interesting to see how you do the great camera work!
Really like to see the training videos. I'd like to see what kind of stuff you work on with a symmetrical system wall. By the way, Quote of the day from Eric " Jes, Thats So Big!"
You guys got to try out the problems using the Original holds(yellow), they are by far the most fun set on the MoonBoard :)
The moonboard is awesome! I try to get a session in every week. That's actually me in the back ground being upset cause you were hogging the MB. =)
Hey hey... awesome videos. Great inspiration. I was wondering tho, you all have amazing physique, what are your diets like? Is there a plan you could point me towards? Thanks! definitely subbed!
Nikken, do you have a list of the problems you tried on the moonboard? I'd like to save a list and try them on our MB at our gym.
Eric! I was just thinking of something 10.30 there is a really chill song. Do u have a public Spotify or Soundcloud list!? :D
Epic content btw. found the channel not to long ago 25k subs somewhere. but been watching several of the old videos every day. Its a sweet channel! :)
Have Nikken and Kajsa try 'Blow 7C' and 'Bunny 8A' next time they're on the board! Extra crimpy and fun moves that I'm sure they'll enjoy.
Totally get what Kajsa means about the negative thoughts... Have the same thing with jumps because i was never very athletic growing up - and I go into dynos and running stuff with a much different mindset than if I just turned off the thoughts :-)
If you do any V4-V5 problems on the moonboard ill be happy to try it out!
Cool! name of the beat around 8:00??
Haha goes to a new gym to try out their boulders > does the moonboard
My two favourite people!
to all the haters that said nikken couldnt climb real 8a lol ;P
Ryan Rutledge I also thought this might be an indirect response.

the new lense is great...no white spots anymore ;)
I've never seen a moonboard before... But it looks actually like a pretty simple hardware design. Good software is harder though :)

How do you use a moonboard and why do certain holds have lights underneath?

Which holds can I use for feet on moonboard?
The only holds you can use are those lighting up even for your feet. Except for at the start where you can also use the yellow in the bottom for your feet

Elise McMahon Hi Elise! I'm 1.63 cm 🙂
Hi Kajsa! Thanks! (I'm 1.52, so definitely feel ya on needing to work on big moves XP)
