I know how annoying it is to have to constantly carry around a gimbal so I understand why you want to see if you can simplify your workflow without it. I think that's a good idea. That being said, the warp stabilization/electronic stabilization or whatever it was, was a little wobbly. Slightly disorienting in just a couple small parts. If you are using warp stabilizer in post, I would suggest using "detailed analysis" and then reducing the "smoothness" as well as the "crop less -- smooth more" setting to 25% or less to balance the stabilization to jello effect balance. You can also change the entire stabilization method from subspace warp to another setting like "position scale rotation" and see if changing up the method can reduce jello effect. Love all your work!
When the drum music set in around the 8:00 mark, I got really invested. You should try that more often as background music. It added some really good tension
The quality is great! Agree with This is Eric about the wobbly feeling at times, but I'm okay with that. The video seems more documentary style and less "home video" style which is really nice. It's really high quality work. Keep it up and can't wait to hear about your insane travel hardships in the next videos
Finally back to the only strong, but non-cocky dude climber on this channel...was about to say the "If I have to see another damn video of Emil being all faux-modest..." haha. Thx for saving it Nikken!
When you set a competition boulder, what grades do you aim for? And do you try to combine oldschool-crimpy boulders with new style jump moves? When you set all the problems for semi-final and final and find out after semi final that the routes are too easy or too hard, do you still have time to change them and do you consider conditions, like humidity and heat? I would love to hear your answers! And also thank you for the videos, it is inspiring to see how easy it looks when you climb up this hard problems.
What is the difference between setting for the men's and women's comp problems? Are they around the same grades? Why don't they climb the same problems? Seen a men V woman team comp and the woman won (by a lot) but climbed different problems so it didn't seem fair
It's so hard to tell how hard a move is on camera...but on the last yellow boulder is it possible to generate enough momentum to move direct to a compression between arete and sidepull and skip the double gastone move in the middle? Or are you too extended to the volume below or wall too overhanging/holds too bad to generate the momentum?
Honestly - this video is too sexy. The images, sounds, Musik and storytelling. Really good job. I encourage you to reinvent your work. Greetings from Germany
If you know who's in the competition or who's most likely to qualify, do you set for their style or their anti style or do you not take their strengths/weaknesses into account?
The sound for this video made me think my new headphones (which I just bought) were already busted. Thanks alot Eric! (just kidding bro, keep up the great stuff :P)
I actually started feeling sick due to the background warping behind nikken's head during some shots. Not sure if the warp stabilization is working as intended.
question: In comps. do they give you full creative freedom to set what you want, or do they give you the holds, and a general layout they are thinking of? One more, what would you say is the average difficulty level for comp boulders? I know they all vary, but just curious how much better these/you guys are.
dude can you tell us what goes behind boulding a self-supported bouldering wall? I'm trying to build my own but I'm not sure if im using the right structure behind it. thanks!
@@eusebiomartinarenas Check this out: www.rei.com/blog/climb/build-home-climbing-wall I recommend to ask a carpenter. It's not so easy and has to be safe! The wooden construction is heavy!
I wonder if Nikken do a leg workout aside from the pure climbing training ? I practice trail running and climbing but can't get legs that thic :p I'm approx. the same morphology (body shape, muscle shape, small, heavy for my height, .. ).
I've got a question about routesetters: do they have any other responsibilities during competitions? Or they just build a route and that's all? And are they able to send their own problems? :) Cheers!
Do you only set hard boulders? Seems like all your boulders are 7+. Really cool moves on the boulders, I would love to try them if I was in the area. I do though agree with Eric, your boulders are all quite morpho, and perhaps tend to be a bit cruxy, and not as sustained as they could be.
Nikken, I noticed the mad rock drones you got on. When sizing them compared to Dragos did you size up or down? Only reason I ask it’s because I am trying to get a pair but will have to order through online prior to trying on! Solid climbing 🤙🏽
If you were to chief a comp what kind of balance between new school and old school boulders would you go for (for example like 50 50)? Also do you prefer more feet based or hand focused coordination moves?
Nikken: has wrist problem
Also Nikken: does slopey problems

I love watching Nikken climb. His footwork is crazy good, makes me wanna train mine more often :)

Nikken has a great mix of strength and technical ability
seems like all the voice audio is only coming through the left channel.
I THOUGHT IT WAS MY NEW HEADSET LMAO
Mainly left, I didn't realize the audio was messed up at first until I saw this comment because I was wearing only the right part of my headphones.
Thank you guys for that amazing video! Seeing the super strong Nikken makes me want to go to the gym directly. :)

The video footage on this seams soo natural and nostalgic
"A visionary, the vision is scary, To start a revolution"....and that's all I can remember.
Loving the work you put into the thumbnails man, keep it classy.
"Just don't fall" lol, yeah, that sounds like it would be Painful.
''Don't fall'' is rule #1 of climbing.
I randomly paused at 6:17 and Nikken looks like Carrot Top. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

Nikken's looking strong as hell. Saw that comp boulder from Samuel and legit hoped you guys were doing your face pulls
Great video. Feels like OG vibes.
Hoping to make it to Akalla this weekend to watch the comp, really cool to hear that the Absolute Legend Nikken Daniels is setting for it 👍😁
After seeing Nikkens start on that last yellow boulder im 100% sure that he know the secret formula for the crabby patty
So strong my dude. You seem so chill. Defo awesome to climb with. Come london again soon 😀😀
That high foot on the black boulder was mad.
"Can Nikken send?" Yes. The answer is always yes.
Great power face at 8:20 :D
my left ear liked that

The Crux throw looks epic! It is perfect for a magazine cover.
Good inspiration for insane moves. Thanks!
That matt you're landing on seems pretty stiff. So glad my gym has soft ones or I would have been beaten up so bad so many times ^^
That's the mat for a Viking :)
Some years ago they used no mat.
.
The gyms I go to argue, that stiff mats save your ankles.
@@alexanderboll8028 Yes, maybe that's correct, because I already had troubles with my ankles on the soft mats!

Yeah I couldn't agree more - really refreshing style compared to wide angle super smooth gimbal footage
And I really loved the music in this one!!! (havent watched the channel in a while and just came back)

Uhhh . . . Nikken, at 8:04, did you mean to do that power scream way earlier that the move? lol
Name of the yellow holds at 11:10??
Sitting at home with two A2 pullies partly torn. This makes me cry. I wanna climb so bad. 4 more weeks...

why was there like 4 advertisement breaks on a 16 min video, youtube is getting out of hand

You should calculate the statics of the new structure and the achoring on the wall!

Eric & co : do you know if there is any good rope climbing gyms in Sweden, that you can reach by car from Trondheim in Norway, during a weekend?
Any suggestions on PT for the wrist nikken? I recently got told I also have an issue with the tfcc tendon which looks like what’s going on with you.
Nikken is a really good setter.
Ben got first! :D
I love watching Nikken climb

What do you(nikken) do for your wrist injury?? I have the same problem
hype music playlist please.

Could you show a beta where we "normal" climber can do it without such high strength requirements?
.
You wouldn’t be able to climb these problems without a certain level of climbing related strength (finger, lock-off, core strength etc).
@@tacticalchunder1207 Yes, that's correct, but with good technical skills we could do it also with less strength skills.

what does your stabilization setup look like now?

I dont understand how Nikken is able to wear skin tight jorts. Ugh im chafing just thinking about it
