    Your whisky quest rant reached deep into my soul Geoff, like an aboriginal who had never seen a self portrait photo and was convinced their soul had been stolen.

    From Glenmorangie, the bottle I’m interested in is the replacement for the Nectar D’Or, which will be simply called, “The Nectar” but with a 16 year age statement. I tried the Glenmorangie sample pack awhile back and the Nectar D’Or was my favorite followed fairly closely by the Quinta Ruban.
    But honestly, I’ve pretty much run out of budget for this year and right now, I’m trying NOT to think about what bottle I’d like to try next.

    Add Port Charlotte 18 to your list. Whisky Lock doesn’t like it but it’s a reasonable price in the US for a high ABV 18 year Islay at $190. It’s a banger. Would really like to hear your review of it.

    Bunna 21CS is going to be upward of €500, no?
    I am keen on many things, including
    The Hearach from yr list
    Ardnahoe Inaugural Release
    A vintage Ballantines 17 yr old
    Kilchoman 16 yr old (not gonna happen)
    a bunch of Old Particulars I can't even afford one of
    A SMWS Clynelish that isn't sold out within 10 seconds of release.

    Thank you for making me aware of this 18 year Longmorn CS! I did not know about it. It's also my favorite distillery. While ordering one, I saw that there was a 22 Yo as well. Thus I ordered both in the UK. Can't wait to get my hands on them. Cheers

    • @laurentsteck6086
      @laurentsteck6086 3 месяца назад

      Don't do that! It's one of the most expensive market for buying whisky. It's cheaper to order in the UK and to pay the shipping than to order directly from the Swiss sellers (in average). Although we are lucky we only have 8.1 VAT. Thus we save the 20% of VAT in the UK (and other European country). And the Swiss salary is above average of a lot of countries. And of course I would be more than happy to share some of my whiskies with you if you'd move here ;-) Merci beaucoup! Cheers

      Hah alright. New plan: find a Swiss girl. Marry her. Get the passport. Get hired there in a job that allows remote work. Move back to Taiwan. Boom. Salaire Suisse avec des prix Taiwanais. It's bulletproof. 😉

    There is a Gwhisky that just put out 10 more to try listy, some look tasty others seem price risky. All in all a great list Geoff. Fyi, Wiser's 42 is going for $470 in Ontario.

  • @ironmantran
    @ironmantran 3 месяца назад +3

    Wad up , boss G ! . . . The (Ontario price) 470.00 $CA Wiser-42 yo 52% is quite different from Wiser-35y 50%, much, MUCH more concentrated. Wiser 42 is 1 of TRIO of "Decades" series = this is for 1980s, while the 28yo cask strength (wine finish ?) for 1990s is available in the Fall-october 2024, and for 2025 (next yr) year-2000-millenium a 24yo cask strength (?finish) WISER.

    • @Gwhisky
      @Gwhisky  3 месяца назад +3

      Ah that's great to know. Sounds like a hell of a trio. So far the CS Wiser's releases are some of the finest non-single malt whiskies I've ever had, so I'm really looking forward to at least sampling them, if possible. Cheers! 🥃

    Great list Geoff,
    It's always fun to fantasize and wonder about the bottles we wish to try!
    I am absolutely on board with trying the Bruchlady Sherry finish, The HIERARCH first release and the Ardnamurchan Midget!
    Unfortunately probably most of these out of my reach as well and to whine even more - it s**ks to be an Ardnamurchan fan outside of the UK 😅😂
    Either way, great stuff once again my friend!

    Geoff, I think it is very important that you know that every time you say the channel name in the intro I hear "Jew Whisky". After that, my mind shuts down to you saying your name as I am too busy imagining you wearing a Hat and building a barn (because my brain overlaps jewish and amish hats and thus you already cross-overed to barn-raising).
    Speaking of hats, you should do these reviews wearing a Top hat. It is on the channel logo after all. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!
    Btw, If a viewer wants to mail you a whisky for a review, do you have a publicly available PO box/address? I did not find anything in the channel description.

    ...nice list😊. The Glenmorangie Signet, I can't get my head or tastebuds around it, frankly it dissapointed me. Paid 153£ and therefore expected a lot, also due to the hype it got. So an expectedly even more expensive "Reserve" edition will be a pass for me. I do otherwise tend to agree with many of your reviews and recommendations😊

    What I want to get this year is at least ONE 18 year or older single malt. They are getting so pricey and even hard to locate in my area. If I do well financially this year, it will be my reward. Also what is “batch strength” as opposed to cask strength? 6:30

  • @whiskyonthewestcoast

    Geoff, loved the list. Speaking of the Wisers 42, I tried it pre-release in January at tasting led by Dr. Don Livermore. While it is good it wasn't the best whisky I had in the tasting. That honour goes to an amazing Wisers Carpathian Oak that may get released in the future. All this to say I won't be spending the $450+ for the Wisers 42 year. You might love it though, not here to dissuade you, just to share my experience with it. Cheers buddy 🥃

    Being that I'm broke and can't pay my student loans I'm definitely buying that Cairdeas the moment I see it and I think that Longmorn is the perfect way to sample the distillery character for the first time . The Kilchoman will certainly be within the budget... actually Kilchoman prices are crazy so we'll see. I never miss a GlenScotia release.
    So yeah... Broke and I have enough whisky for the next four livers. But y'know, FOMO

    Endless flavor chasing seeking the holy Grail of whisky that doesn't actually exist. So true. I figured this out last year (that there is no holy Grail of whisky and if it exists, it's not worth paying endless amounts of money in search of finding) and now I enjoy my collection of favorites I've discovered over the past 10 years or so and I no longer feel the need to constantly search. It's truly liberating.
