carl's biggest blunder was taking that pawn. Rg2 was the winning move. not that long ago, my opponent tried to trick me into taking his rook, but i maneuvered my king to e4, leaving black with only Re5+ i forced a rook trade by taking with my king, NOT the bishop as the black king is stuck on h8. i had an extra bishop and 4 pawns after the rook trade, prompting my opponent to resign. always be aware of stalemate tricks/traps. carl was greedy in taking that pawn. Rg2 was the winning move.

I’m a little too excited right now to focus and understand the situation that Stingray put together, but at some point I’ll relax again to pause and increase my understanding. From what I could see it was a good game and I did think that Carl had it. Thanks again for this content 😊

Trade that coffee for a pepsi, and where's the salty conversation? Thought I was going to see a stalemate. Awesome game! Awesome players on a gray day. That was def. an incredible oh no moment. Love these cats.

Can’t believe Carlini missed that mate at the end. He had plenty of time.

Yeah, at 8:00 I don’t know what he was thinking with Rf2. Rg1+ was the nail in the coffin.

Carl got greedy with Rxf3 instead of Rg2 with Rg1+ coming. Earlier, sting ray played cxb7 instead of c7, as the rook is denied access to d8.

Stockfish has done this to me when I've tried to see if I could close out a game my opponent resigned.

Me too. I keep grabbing what I figure is a blundered piece before I realize Stockfish's king can't move :)

carl blundered by playing Rxf3 whereas Rg2 was the winning move. always be aware of stalemate traps/tricks. sometimes underpromotion to knight, rook or bishop is necessary to avoid stalemate, royal forks, knight mates, etc. i literally shook my head when he took that pawn, and i was like "stalemate".

Yes, you're right when you are winning, you could neglect the stalemate traps.

Carl's greed backfired. Rg2 was the winning move with Rg1+ coming. Once the dust has settled, black wins with accurate play.
