    Kaspersky is the best, I've had it for 10 years with zero problems. Sadly, Biden banned it, and now I have to look for other craps for protection.

      I've also been using Kaspersky for more than 10 years and never had a single problem, and it's certainly lighter on resources than many of the others. Fortunatley, being in the UK, there is no prohibition on it. Having said that I am really not sure why I should trust a Russian company any less than a US one.

    Kaspersky is still the best. I’ve used it for many years with zero problems. It sucks that I have to switch to an inferior product now because of this stupid ban.

    I like Norton.
    Side Note: My Norton 360 was set to expire March 1, 2024 and the company wanted ~$120 for 1 year/5 user renewal. I brought a new Norton 360 1 year/3 user (I only use 3 licenses) for $19 on Amazon.

    .Don't really know or understand all of the anti-virus terminology.
    1) Could you please explain what is a "kill switch"?
    2) What do you mean when you say Bitdefender has a "200 MB data limit"?
    3) If you install antivirus software with multiple User Profiles (like children's profiles), does that protect all of the User Profiles equally?
    4) Also - Does Bitdefender or other anti-virus software have comprehensive parental controls that are customizable for different User Profiles?
    5) Last but not least, what do you think of or do you know anything about ESET?
    Thanks in advance.

    AV bloat is a major issue... 99% of standard users do not need all those bells and whistles that these companies are charging for. And don't get me started on the Subscription prices...
    That said, since working in Cybersecurity over the last 20 years, I would never recommend Norton/Symantec.. They've had some seriously shady issues in the past.

    • @cybernews
      @cybernews  6 месяцев назад

      Hey! System scan performs a scan of the whole system, including hard drives, therefore most of the antiviruses will be able to do the job, however, I would recommend trying TotalAV or Norton. 🙌

    Okay so I installed total AV. And I immediately do not trust antivirus software when I install it, and it sets home pages for my browsers to a launch page.. where it requests me to buy it. I installed total AV to try it. And while it was very decent. As soon as I opened up any of my browsers it set the homepage to their page to buy it. I don't like that. I will go back to bit defender

    • @celestial2923
      @celestial2923 5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, totalav might not be trustworthy, Malwarebytes blocked it and said it was fraudulent. According to their support page (PUP.Optional.TotalAV being the file name when you install it) "PUP.Optional.TotalAV is a potentially unwanted program marketed as a system optimizer. These so-called “system optimizers” use exaggerated scan results or sometimes even intentional false positives to convince users that their systems have problems. Then they try to sell you their software, claiming it will remove these problems. PUP.Optional.PCProtect is usually installed by users themselves under false pretences and can be downloaded from their website"

      Malwarebytes works pretty well for me personally. If you need an extra layer of protection, Norton works well I think, though expensive asf. I would NOT recommend TotalAV due to it possibly being fraudulent. I'm not saying it is for sure but the way its marketed and how if you try to install it some antivirus's mark it as fraud, this may be a marketing thing where the antivirus marks other Antivirus as virus to stop you from switching but until theres more information i'd strongly advise against it.

There are relatively recent videos here in RUclips of hackers easily evading their EDR Optimum solution without any extensive effort.
