    How has this held up over the years? Have you tried the Salsa expansion or the other map expansions?

    • @JonGetsGames

      I think that it has held up quite well. While it doesn't get played much (almost entirely due to me focusing on new games) I was able to get a play in last weekend with the Salsa expansion for the first time. We didn't play on any new maps, but did use both the Salt and Forum modules. I honestly loved the addition of the Forum and felt "take it or leave it" with regards to the salt. I do think I'm going to keep my eye out for the expansion to add to my game though since I was playing with a friends copy.

    Excellent Jon, I wanted to check if SUSD was FOS (Full of S#*T) as I thought Quinn had shares in the company, but knowing that you will enjoy it in ten years (another 5 to go), that’s wonderful to hear as I trust your word. Thanks mate.

    I just played Dominion for the first time last night and this card mechanic reminds me of that game.

    So Jon, you said you would still own this game in 10 years. 5 years have passed, do you still own it? :)

      Yep! Holy crap I can't believe it's been 5 years since I made this review. I still love the game, even more so with the recent Venus expansion.

    How is the game at various player counts? Good with only 2?

    • @JonGetsGames

      I haven't had the opportunity to play two player yet, though I imagine it wouldn't play anywhere near as well as 4 and 5 player. The three player game I played even felt pretty lose on the board. It's not the end of he world to go off and do your own thing but it will become much more solitaire like. I somehow forgot to mention the interesting mechanic of piggy backing in other peoples cities and regions so that you generate resources when it isn't your turn by having them prefect for themselves. This would also be lacking with only two players.

      +Joel Oakley I mostly play it with 5 and it's great. There's nearly no downtime because you can generally plan your turn in advance despite what other players do. Midway through a 5-player game the board starts getting a bit crowded, and the tension rises a bit. I truly love this game and I'm hoping to get my hands on the "Salsa" expansion soon.

    A negative point I found is the scoring system. First, you have no idea if you are winning or losing until the end. Second, once he game is over, it takes 20 minutes and a lot of math (basic, but a lot) to figure the points. I felt it creates a very anti-climatic ending to the overall gaming experience.

      DTM That's a bit of a stretch. Check the GameNight! video on this game, first time playing the game and still take only 5min to score.

      DTM Absolutely true. I can deal with the math at the end but if you want to figure out where you are during the game you would basically have to run all these calculations constantly while also memorizing the other players' decks to figure out how they stack up.

      I feel it's a good feature actually. In most games you reach the last 20 minutes of play and you can already kind of know who is gonna win and who is gonna lose, and this is a bad thing in my opinion because if you're behind you lose interest in the game since it's obvious you can't win anymore. Concordia makes everyone to be playing seriously untill the end since everybody believes he can win

    Is Concordia daunting for new players?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  8 лет назад +5

      I haven't found this to be the case. The simple turn structure helps this, since all you do is play a single card down. The teach can feel abit long since you have to explain each of the standard cards, but I haven't had issues with it in the past.

      With many games the rules make them complicated. The Concordia rules are quite simple. What makes the game daunting is that the state of the game is very much obscured until the end, and that there are few obviously good/bad moves. So every turn you might have 4 different options and it is not clear whether any one of them is better than any other.

    Is this game good with two player ?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

      I don't think I've ever played it at that count, though I do know that some expansion maps were made to have the 2player experience feel tighter.

      I do! Along with the Venus expansion (I keep them in one box with some other expansion maps as well). I doubt I'll ever get rid of this one.

      @@JonGetsGames Good to hear. I just bought a copy after playing once a few years ago. Played it a bit and enjoy it. My only gripe is that all the points come at the end.

    Sold it. Concordia is great for cons, not for homes.
