i get what you mean about the scrappy tote colours. i like my scrappy projects to look random but still cohesive, which usually means they aren't actually random and often pretty heavily planned. i call it pseudorandom.
You are a joy to watch - I just gotta say. So informative and encouraging in a nicely low-key way. funny and friendly too. I' m just starting to really get into knitting and you make it seem very approachable without the expectation that everything will be a resounding success - don't stop!
Loved hearing you walk through your “designed by me pattern”. Very educational, makes me want to design something. The bag too… thanks for your videos, so candid and actually hilarious.
Norwegian purling was a game changer for me for even getting started in knitting. Arne and Carlos have a good tutorial that made it clock for me. Watch Barbara Knit and Roxanne Richardson have good tutorials too. Makes ribbing a breeze. Good luck!
You’re super cute with your bow and your vest. This vest may not be as you wanted it to be but it looks really nice 👍! Thanks for another lovely podcast, I always enjoy watching them. … A toast and butter pouch!?! that is the weirdest FO ever. You are so entertaining 😂
Around purling, I ended up settling on Norman's technique (Nimble Needles) and using my middle finger. I'm still adapting but it's kinda speedy and less hurtful. I tried Norwegian purling, but my tension never got good, and no matter how fast I went it just looked like a complex ballet dance with needles. That being said, training Norwegian purling helped me with regular continental purling. There's something on the initial right wrist motion that makes catching the yarn a bit easier... I guess by the end of the day we become chimeras of all knitting styles we tried along the way 😂
Your top turned out nice. The bow in your hair is cute. I love your crochet scrap bag and the toast and butter bag is adorable. Perfect for make up or knit/crochet accessories. Thanks for the video. 🧶
the bread and butter looks super cute!! I like how this ep is crochet heavy, because this week I had to scratch this crochet itch of mine. I'm making the yawning yarning cos bucket hat :)
I think your vest turned out great! I am headed to NYC for a few days this week for work, but do have one afternoon to myself where I thought about searching out a yarn store. Chances are I will end up spending the afternoon in MoMA knitting around the art
There’s knitty city in upper west side and some stores near the Met on the east side that should be relatively easy to get to from midtown! MoMA is great though hope you enjoy your trip 🧶
The toast bag is amazing. I saw your instagram post and thought, that looks like bread, why is she making bread?! I need it! So cute! Also, I do Norwegian purling and it takes a bit to get used to but it is really nice once you get some practice in and it is super nice on your hands and wrists.
Love your podcast! It feels like I’m sitting down knitting with a friend. The toast is adorable. Creating something that isn’t “practical “ is what makes making so enjoyable and fun.
maybe u can put knitting supplies in ur bread bag 🤷♀ love ur crochet era journey maybe the next one i do should be black too so u can't see my egregious errors
I am knitting a vest that is fair isle. It has different patterns and chickens!! I am to the point where I need to separate for sleeve holes. I have no pattern, so am at a loss. I don't want to do colour work and purl. Ugh. Will keep pondering my next move. Your vest turned out really nice : ) The piece of toast is adorable and the butter !!
Hi Jenny. What is your philosophy on buying more yarn to finish a project? Does that count as acquiring more yarn? Meaning you are using up stash to knit a sweater but are one ball short. Does buying that ball count as an acquisition, or is it a loophole because you will be able to finish your project?
hmm I think I take it case by case - if I feel like I will not use that yarn for any other project and that I'll like the final result I'll buy more yarn to finish it up. Acquisition is a loose term for me to show off what I got so I usually count it towards that I guess! I'm not really keeping a log of things anywhere else though so it's all kinda unstructured haha
@futurefiber Retro Claude is doing a big stash-down, and she ran out of yarn halfway through a blanket and had to buy more yarn. She was in a conundrum about what to do. It got me thinking about the "rules" of no-buy or working only from stash. I'm working through oooold stash, so I can't necessarily replace yarn to finish a project. I have to pick projects to fit the yarn.
Hi Jenny! I discovered your podcast through your 10 perfect tees episode and have enjoyed watching your episodes since then 😊 You mentioned not wanting to tink back to fix a missed strand. Have you tried laddering down? Roxanne Richardson has some great videos on her channel about laddering down to fix mistakes. It's so helpful, and I've done it many times when I discover a mistake a few rows down. It can save you lots of frustration and tears 😅 Keep up the great work! ruclips.net/video/Kc5kvOOjjtE/видео.html
I really like the idea of the thinner yarn on your vest and then the thicker yarn for the edges🤔😃👏🏼🧶🧶🧶

Jenny always makes me laugh
You can use hair conditioner to soften the itchy wool you are using :)
noting better than jenny's videos by the end of every week
Norwegian purling fixed my tension issues! I still do English style though when I'm doing full rows of purls. Good luck on all your purling
The butter OMG 💖
You are very clever. Toast is adorable. As is your crochet bag. All I’ve seen so far.
[Not that one could ever ask a cat to come and sit anywhere] but now that I know you have a cat, I secretly hope she would make an appearance 😻
:') i wishhh but she kind of hates me so!!
The slipcover is so neatly done and looks very good on you! ❤

That scrappy tote is so darling! I don’t think I have the appropriate yarn but I’m going to get some WIPs going so I can. 😂
Cute! ❤
The toast bag is literally the cutest. My sister would die if I made that for her. thanks for sharing!

@@futurefiber It’s been in the round until now haha
You absolutely crack me up every time 😂♥️ your expressions are seriously top notch
Omg I'm so drawn to pastel pink and pastel rainbow yarn but I NEVER wear clothes like that. Whyyy?
