great video! :) on the decrasing issue: i always decrase on the 8th row (if the pattern says "decrase every 8 rows"), not because I have any knowledge on the matter, but because you end up knitting less stitches overall hehe

Initially I came for the comments but keep coming back for the rambling, lol, very entertaining. If your square top is made of super wash, super wash does grow but once you wash it, it will return to original size. I recently knitted myself some socks and I too messed up the yarn distribution. Plus, because I was too lazy to tink back to redo the cuff, my cuff is not what it should be. I’ve been knitting for a few decades so it goes to show that every body makes mistakes or does goofy things when knitting, no matter how experienced we are. I admire your willingness to explore, take chances, and try anything with your crafts.

I usually take that to mean that I decrease on the 8th row so like knit 7 rows normally and decrease on row 8
I also have the issue of my cat sinking his claws into my knitting and catching the yarn with his claws😂 it’s an adventure for sure

It's fascinating to hear other people talk about their typical gauge/tension for projects! I normally knit socks with my 2.5 or 2.75mm, so when I heard you say "2mm" I was shocked (I made one with 2mm and those socks were so tight), then you said you might have to go down to 1.75, I was even more shocked! Then you said you were a loose knitter and I was like ohhh that makes sense!

Traditionally, western clothing wraps right over left, and menswear wraps left over right (due to the fancy ladies having people who dressed them). But we also see plenty of womenswear now going the same way as menswear due to borrowing styling, like in jeans. My fashion school teacher told us the way to remember is that 'women are always right' 😂😂😂

I also am confused by "decrease every x rows" it makes me feel silly because it seems like such a basic instruction 😂 nice to see your knitting updates, that black square neck top is such a 😙👌 staple for the wardrobe

Another great ep with tons of interesting projects and I think most of us are also here for the rambling 😂. Side note I loved this part, from 26:01 to 26:08 such a mood when playing yarn chicken
Edit: Abt the decrease/increase every x amount of rows, I usually do this: for example 7 normal rows and then in the 8th a decrease/increase, after that the count starts again so the 9th row becomes 1st again. At least that's how I count them otherwise I get confused, hope it help you✨

HI there, just a few things about the yarn you are using. Nylon in yarn (for socks for example) is not for stretch. it's for durability as wool or cotton on their own would wear through quite fast. Wool has the stretch but bounces back after washing, cotton has stretch but doesn't have the property of wool to bounce back hence why many crocheted garments (picture bikinis heheheheheh) stretch out of shape and have to be thrown away.
Another thing I thought I'd mention when you were making your black garment - I didn't hear if it was superwash or not but superwash grows vertically after blocking and you can expect a top to stretch down 2 or 3 inches so just keep that in mind when you knit your sleeves. have a great June. I'm off to finish the rest of the podcast. Lu in Australia

You are funny. I enjoyed the rambling. Regarding socks that fit well, I have similar shape of foot as you do and I find that Andrea Mowry's Everyday Sock Pattern to fit perfectly. It is the only sock pattern I'll ever knit because it just fits so well. It is all ribbed.

I have the same problem of the looser gauge when knitting socks, especially when using circular knotting needles. I overcome this problem when I used double sided needles.

Decrease every 8 rows means decreasing on the 8th row I think. Lovely podcast, again! I am almost at the end and haven’t heard you talk about the cute polo shirt you are wearing (maybe you talked about it in a previous episode?) it is NICE ❤

I love doing two-at-at-time toe-up socks and you might too! I pull from the inside and outside of a yarn cake and it lets me use up pretty much every last bit of yarn! Plus the socks will be the same length (you also don't need to count rows to make sure your second sock will have the same amount of rows) and it bypasses running into second-sock syndrome

Ugh I bought some chiaogoo size 6 circulars and immediately lost them in my house. They are still in the packaging and everything. So frustrating. I want to tell you to look harder but I definitely bought a different pair of 6s..... they are square needles which I really wanted to try so that was my reason 😅

I'm at least a solid 30% here for the rambles and the rest for the knitting.
Also for every 8 rows I decrease on the 8th row :3
For T ideas the color tip tee just dropped that looks fun! Incidentally that uses a 3.25mm :3 I say give a good effort in searching for your missing needles but totally worth buying replacements.

  • @kathrynbythelake9638
    @kathrynbythelake9638 Год назад

I would buy a replacement for the missing needles, especially if it is a size you often use. You could always sell the duplicate if you find the originals if it bothers you too much. I really like all your FOs and the wrap top is looking great too! It looked so bulky when you showed it before, but now that you tried it on, it looks to be a great weight. Is Colourmart yarn decent in the hand? I haven't tried them before.

You did a great job with that skirt, but I really think dress codes like that, which are so specific it can mean attendees may have to go out and buy something in order to match the code, are REALLY THOUGHTLESS!
I don't really like any dress codes, though the vague ones like 'smart casual' or 'evening dress' aren't too bad. If I was being *forced* to wear a skirt or high heels, I would probably immediately refuse to attend and being so specific with the colour is in the same category for me. If I'm going to have to shop, or as you did, make something, there's a better than even chance I'm not going.
