    👍 About VideoShowMeHow
    -----------------------------------------------
    ⏩ Where did this start?
    I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
    ⏩ What will you find here?
    The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)
    ⏩ What's with the gloves?
    Not after any RUclips fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing. Plus adds a little more personality I guess :)
    New videos are being uploaded regularly so if there's something you'd like to see, have Questions and/or Comments drop me a line.
    Cheers guys.

    Does not look like a good seal, how have you found it for water ingress and dust ? Otherwise looks like a great piece of kit, great vid !

      Doesn't seal per say this one, but the shell comes down to the base to keep water and muck out. I just make sure the side windows etc are zipped up for transport and haven't had an issue since I've had it

    Great video and review... I am considering this tent. Why did you go from a low set up to using a tub rack and having a higher setup ?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  Год назад +1

      Cheers. Change in setup but also found that with the low racks was tricky getting to anything underneath towards the back, and to half crawl in there. Have gone to a canopy now and tested a different style that's Slimer, not necessarily better but different. If you check out the cape trip vehicle overview you'll see what I mean. The Saber-X has a full review coming soon to the channel as well

      thank you ... any reason you decided to switch from the Yowie to a more slim line tent ? I currently a low setup and am thinking of investing in a Yowie..

    Great channel with a lot of great ideas. Just confused about the weight capability. Your HSP bar install says the bars have a load bearing of 80kg. The rooftop tent is about 80kg itself. How are the bars supposed to support the tent and two people? I've clearly missed something obvious.

    • @VideoShowMeHow

      Dynamic vs static rating. Static (eg when stationary) is higher

    This is great. I have a Hilux and a fibre glass top on the tub, but would prefer the tent like this over the tub. So all the equipment/luggage has to be in weather proof containers in the tub. Does the car handle better with the weight at the back?

    Hey Adam
    Love your work, you've helped me alot along the way
    Couple questions are you going to touch on your awning in the next video and how you can (or can't use them) with the RTT? I really like the RTT but want to utilise a 270° awning but pretty sure wouldn't be able too while the tent is open....
    Noticed in the the Dmax overview video you had two awnings on the roof rack and was just interested in your set-up with them
    Keep up the good work legend

      Also off topic, what made you go the pedalbox over ultimate 9 evcx or idrive?
      About to order now

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  Год назад

      Basically for what I explained in the vid, I ran an i drive for years in the jeep build, work fine, but the pedal box is just a bit more premium, can hide the whole unit under dash and just run via the app, and it tunes to your pedal throw instead of just standard signal amplification like idrive/evc/etc etc (they're all the same just different brands slapped on top)

    What made you go with the Yowie over the Panther?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  2 года назад +1

      Mainly because of shape and the fact that front awning doesn't need the metal stays, it's all one unit making setup ridiculous fast and easy. Sheds water reeeally well. Also the headliner is a one piece automotive style unit which adds some sound dampening (actually reasonably quiet in the rain)

    Hi mate. Was wondering if you could tell us the minimum width between holes on the steel brackets shown in min 7:22. And the length of the bolts going in them. Looking to do some mods to a tub rack.

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  Год назад

      100mm bracket, holes max 80mm, bolts 100mm. You can get generic brackets and bolts as most roof top tents are the same mounting system as this 👍

  • @trainstrains1
    @trainstrains1 2 года назад +1

    Something to note for those wanting to mount their tents on the roof is that there is a difference between static load rating, road load rating and off-road load rating. The roof may very well be able to have 100 kilos loaded onto it but when the vehicle starts to move that load rating drops severely to the point where it's lucky to hold itself and a couple of roof bars. Rhino rack is a prime example of not really showing these ratings unless you really dig for them.
    Ronnie Dahl did the same thing on his channel and received an urgent warning from a third channel that had just had their tent fall off and badly damaged the roof of the vehicle ruclips.net/video/r32xd9z4SZ4/видео.html. Mounting it on the tub is a much safer option and lowers the centre of gravity for the vehicle so you're less likely to roll it while doing sharp turns.
    I do enjoy following the build though so keep 'em coming!

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  2 года назад +1

      Yep exactly, dynamic load (eg when off-road etc) is the figure you want to base off, not static load (while load is stationary, usually much higher)

      @xBURNSY270x Год назад

      @VideoShowMeHow on the rhino page it says 21 but what makes no sense to me is you max out the weight on the roof how do u sleep in it then wouldnt it be too heavy with people in the tent

    • @VideoShowMeHow

    The weight of the Yowie plus fittings is listed at 80.5kg and the HSP Load Rack is rated to carry 80kg combined. Is that 80kg per bar or 80kg across both bars?
    Are you exceeding the recommended weight when you sleep in it?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  2 года назад +2

      Each bar and that's dynamic so no probs, static is much higher 👍 Going to try something slightly different so watch this space ;)

    • @Seshonium
      @Seshonium 2 года назад

      My understanding is that's the static load limit, not stationary. It's mostly to account for the maximum allowable weight you should have on it under the worst possible driving conditions where it may potentially start to fail.
