Another pro tip: MAKE SURE YOU WASH OUT ALL THE CONDITIONER FROM THE SHOWER! Any residue product from shower will make the silk press greasy, weighed down, or stiff! You almost want your hair to squeaky clean stepping out the shower. You got this xoxo ❤
Please do not get a keratin treatment. You have beautiful hair that people are literally paying thousands of dollars for. I've seen so many people get a keratin treatment in their hair and then later all their hair falls out. Absolutely do not recommend as someone who has 4c hair and has gotten perms before in the past. No more. No perms, no color no keratin for me. Just staying natural to keep my crown healthy and then cutting my split ends.

Your hair is beautiful and I slightly envy that your silk press process can be done in an hr (at home at that!!). In the new year I’ve decided to join the straight natural girlies and will leave the styling/maintenance to my vetted team of professionals. Knotless braids in spring/summer, sew-ins for fall/winter, and silk press + trims in between. Inches here we come!!!

Thank you for how thorough you were here. I spent this year trying to embrace my natural texture but never enjoyed it past day 1. When I used to heat style my hair it kept for the whole week and I loved it so you’ve inspired me to get back to that. I tried Color Wow in the past and didn’t care for it but I’ll have to give it another go. I have a lot of hair and lazy with the blow drying 😅 so I’m glad you emphasized the importance of being thorough there. My hair definitely frizzes and waves if I rush through it.
See, this is very helpful for me because I wear my hair primarily curly although I used to straighten it all the time and have had heat damage over the years. I found that leaving Curly has helped it to grow and maintain its health, but there have been occasions where I want it to be straight. What I do is I let it air dry so that I’m putting less heat and then I straighten it but a great point that you made is not putting too much product in ahead of time. I have a habit of doing so prior to applying any heat. I think trying this method would really help me get the look that I am achieving. Thanks as always!

My goal is to find a way to style my hair that makes my hair the best it can look but still keep it really long in length. I have wavy hair, like 2b but its low porosity, frizzy, dry and its hard to tame the waves because of bleach damage. Your hair looks so lovely natural as well as styled straight the way you like to do it. The product recommendations are sooo useful i will try them thank you. Damn, I love the idea of blow drying before flat ironing my hair. I used to go straight to the flat ironing and my hair always used to curl up after a few hours. Your beauty videos are equally as valuable to me as your girl talks fr🥰 Love this topic in particular especially because it's been a rough journey with my own hair. I used to be obsessed with straightening my curly hair in middle school but I clearly didn't know what I was doing lol! I had split ends for days and the shape never really looked right and it became too stressful for me to keep doing it so I gave up on silk presses and it's literally been years to this day. But girl you've inspired me to give it a try again. You've helped me realize that my technique was incorrect and showed me the correct way, and I had too much product left in my hair before doing it and I have to admit that I used to just do it even if my hair was still a bit wet🤦🏽♀ and it made a loud tssssssss noise when I run it through. Thank you Hailey, now I know how to achieve the perfect silk press like yours!🤍
