    First off, my hat's off to you sir. Thanks for making a video and just talking about this lens. The fact that you did so with charisma (and not in a mechanical or snobby way like most of the other ones I've seen) is the cherry on top. Just a guy with his gear, in a field, making art.
    Cheers!

    Whew, I'd be nervous to walk away from that big lens sitting on a tripod with those little legs way down low and the super long/tall center column. I'd be thinking one gust of wind and down it goes or even if I just accidentally bumped into it while paying attention to the 80D narrating the video. But, otherwise, nice to see some information being shared on this older lens.

    Great video buddy, one thing for sure that Learn from you today was flipping the camera by unscrewing the ring on. the lens. I have the 70-200 / 600mm and never thought about that! lol Thank bro.

    I am curious what you think has more bokeh? This lens or the 85mm f1.2? Thanks

      Interesting question. I have thought about aperture vs compression when It comes to the amount of background blur. The 300 will focus faster than the old 1.2 Ls but you will get Tunnel Vision allot faster. Maybe I should update this video

    Thanks for this. I normally shoot the 135L2 at conventions but sometimes it would be handy to totally blow out the background. As I also have a 300 2.8 that might come in handy, as long as there is enough room. And if you wanted a tad more detail on the background you can just stop down the lens. When I'm really far away my model has her phone on speakerphone so I can talk to them. I tend to shoot from a lower level than you did, so the horizon doesn't end up behind the head of the model.

      The 90mm Macro is very cheap in comparison to the 300mm 2.8.

    How do you compare this lens to the Canon EF200mm f2.0, let me know

    • @lander77477
      @lander77477 3 месяца назад

      I can't compare from personal experience, but my best guess is that the background blur is most likely very similar, and the only real difference would be the loss of a stop of light, and being slightly zoomed out

    300 is perfect for portrait on full frame ,on apsc 135 or 200mm .
    i bought one very ugly 1200 for birds with the x2.0 ,not sharp until f13/14 ,the 300 f4L IS or non IS are superior even wide open ,at least until f 14 weight 1.2kg and cost a quarter , maybe i have a bad one ???

    With the Tamron, where was your focus point? On the 300mm, it appears you did not aim for the eye.

    • @DevynFromCFXTV
      @DevynFromCFXTV  3 года назад

      I aimed them the exact same way. Center auto focus point on the 5D Mark II. The Tamron is lighter and sharper than the 300. Even on the Tripod at 1/400, lots of things can contribute to the lack of focus compared to a way lighter lens. Also understand that the 5D Mark II only has like 11 af points, once you out it on a tripod its very hard to nail it regardless. But at the end of the day the set up is extremely impractical.

    If it has 16 sides how is it an octobox?

    • @DevynFromCFXTV
      @DevynFromCFXTV  3 года назад +1

      I corrected this in a future video, thanks. The correct term is Hexadecogon ....The catchlights are closer to a circle than the octabox, that's pretty much it.

    Just look at the focus scale on the lens, that will tell you the distance. But if you need the exercise, I guess you can walk the distance to get an estimate. ;-)
