When I saw them live, Addie jumped off stage just before the end of Birthday Song and embraced her girlfriend. She sang the final line in her arms, in the middle of the crowd, with no mic. It was one of the sweetest things I'd ever seen in my life and one of the best concert moments I've ever experienced. I hope they're doing ok and this song isn't based on her leaving. And if it is, I hope Addie's doing alright. Incredible song by an incredible band regardless.

This song is one of those "play it every now and then songs" for me, and has been since it dropped, and I always remember and re-read your comment, and just play out the scenery of that story in my head, and it feels wholesome every time. Your story lives inside my head dude.

This feels like a fairly big shift in their sound to me. Addie’s signature voice is less forward and obviously more effected in this song than most of their previous work. It gives me Maggie Rogers vibes. TGC have talked about how their work is very influenced by The Strokes and it’s definitely noticeable, not only in their earliest stuff but even in their last full project “I’m Afraid I’m Not Angry.” TGC played with (and I believe toured with) Hippocampus a bit ago and I think they’re still friendly with each other. If this is a preview of an upcoming album, I wonder if TGC is going to have a similar transformation as Hippocampus did where they went from a more energetic rock vibe to a more ethereal sound. This song does give me the same vibes as Hippocampus’s “Bambi” which was their first album where they fully moved away from a rock/pop sound and into a more ethereal sound where basically everyone song on that album has significant effects on the vocals and just generally more keyboard and ambient noise.This is one of the only TGC songs I can think of with significant effects on Addie’s vocals. Really excited to see what comes next! Not sure if this is a preview for an upcoming album or what, but excited nonetheless!
